1. InDesign overset text copies entire document

   InDesign is creating a problem wherein I finish an entire document and it still says there is overset text. When I create a new frame to put it into to see what it is, I find that InDesign has duplicated the text of the entire document. When I try to delete the extra, it just copies the text over and over and puts it right back, including if I try to delete the frame that the extra text is inside of. How do I make this stop?

2. Share for Review- White/Black screen only

   When I try to Share for Review, I only see this. I have updated my software to the most recent release. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

3. Placed PDFs and Images Not Rendering

   I'm on InDesign 2022 (17.2) and have started recently having issues with placed images and PDFs after an update. I have a 2021 silicon Mac Mini for Travel and an Intel 2019 iMac for home use. Both on Monterey 12.3.1

   The rendering issue began after certain documents originally worked on in the silicon version had issues when opening in the Intel version.

   This happened with both images (TIFs, JPGs) and PDF files. After placing the files in InDesign (in the mac mini) they rendered fine. Upon opening the files though in InDesign on my iMac. The renderings did not appear. Deleting the image box and re-importing did not help. Trashing the ID preferences did temporarily help though.

   Unfortunately, upon opening another file this morning the same issue occurred.

4. InDesign does not appear in Windows Task Manager when restarted after a crash

   When InDesign freezes or crashes (which happens pretty frequently), I go to Windows Task Manager and end the task. When I reopen InDesign, InDesign does open and has the autosaves of all my ID documents open, but InDesign does not appear in Windows Task Manager at all.

   This is a problem because usually whatever caused InDesign to freeze/hang the first time will occur again very quickly, but this time I can't end the task. Nor can I end the task if anything else goes wrong. The only way to fix this is to restart the computer to force all applications to shut, which is a huge time waster if I am working and have multiple things open.

5. Ctrl-0 then paste no longer quite centres

   It appears the latest version doesn't quite centre when doing the normal 'cut object > ctrl/cmd-0 to centre and fill the page on the viewport > paste'. On a 210mm x 280mm layout it's giving a centre co-ordinate of 105.112mm x 140.112mm rather than 105mm x 140mm.

6. Bug: Indesign randomly doesn't save

   System: Windows 19, Indesign 17.1
   Steps to reproduce (though the trigger of this problem isn't known):
   1. Open a file, change something. The asterisk next to the file name marks there are unsaved changes.
   2. Hit Ctrl+s, then Ctrl+w to close. It will ask you to save again.
   3. Cancel that requester and hit Ctrl+s again, plus Ctrl+w. The same.
   4. Cancel again, then use the menu entry "Save", then hit Ctrl+w. Same story.

   The asterisk remains and ID also doesn't lock as it usually does when saving (I'm not network, saving files take a few seconds). In this situation it would only save the file when you click Yes in the "Save the file?" requester after Ctrl+w.

   System: Windows 19, Indesign 17.1

7. CC library issues - errors importing and no browser sync

   I am using Adobe Cloud v17.3 and have 2 related issues:

   1. When I try to import a CC library, it doesn't fully import. Only a few items appear.
      This library has been successfully imported on other occasions, so I am confused.

   2. I have built another CC library within my InDesign environment. When I try to view it online, it says that I don't have any libraries?!

8. Strange blanks – personalization

   I have a table that I use for data merge. There are empty cells in it: an academic title that not everyone has

   Example

   Salutation: Dear
   Academic title: Dr.
   Last name: Miller

   I I only have one text field, which makes things difficult for personalization for people who don't have an academic title:

   " <<Salutation>> <<Academic Title>> <<Surname>> " --> " Dear Dr. Miller"

   In the place where the academic title should be, these blanks appear, which can only be removed manually. With a list of 1,000 invitations, this is an enormous amount of time.

   Via Search/Replace I cannot find the characters ... Support has not been able to help me either. Is there possibly an elegant solution for this problem? Now I have to split the tables in 2 for people with academic title & without, so the blanks are normal.

   Version: InDesign 2022

9. Mark positioning (GPOS) went wrong for text on path

   Khmer rendering has been working well on most of the Adobe products. InDesign is one of them, especially after the fix: https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/36534535-khmer-script-justification-is-broken.

   However, I've just noticed that there is another bug with GPOS for Khmer (or maybe other scripts), when the text is on a path.

10. There does not seem to be a way to activate the Japanese Paragraph composer in the English version of InDesign

    I am an native English speaker and use InDesign primarily in English. I sometimes have projects in other languages; i actually read a fair bit of Japanese and noticed that the lines were breaking even wtih World-ready paragraph composer turned on. I then learned that InDesign has both Japanese paragraph and single-line composers, whhich appear to be accessible in PREFERENCES under Advanced Type, but this does not seem to do anything I need done with the text.

    i was told I must install the Japanese language version of InDesign to apply this feature. It would be wonderful if that would work in the one version.

    At least I can read enough Japanese to use the J-language edition, but I work in other languages i cannot read; if other languages have this issue, I hope there will be some good solutions for them, too!

11. InDesign display shift problems

    1. Version: InD 17.3 x64, in Windows 10 Enterprise, Intel(R) Xeon(R) W-10885M CPU @ 2.40GHz 2.40 GHz, 128GB RAM. I'm halfway wondering if having the system's display scaling set to 125% is disagreeing with the InD app....
    2. Steps causing issue: Make edits on a page with text frames and placed graphics.
    3. Expectation: Layout items render normally.
    4. Result: Sections of layout display shift by several pixels, creating broken display of layout. Uploading mild examples (part of top edge of graphic has shifted; section of edges of frames has shifted). Often lines of text are half cut off by the effect. Can happen when doing something as simple as clicking into a text frame.

12. Bug: Arrange mode "4-up vertical" scales one document differently

    System: Windows 10, Indesign 17.1
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Open 4 identical documents in A4 size, preferably single spreads
    2. From the menu select to arrange them as "4-up vertical"
    3. Press Ctrl-0 on all to fit the documents into the window
    4. Compare the zoom value

    In my case, on a full HD monitor, one document ended up having a zoom of 51.75% while the other three had 51%.

13. PDF Preview Issue/Transparent Objects Missing

    PDFs set up for print are missing transparent objects in the image preview. Opened file looks normal and prints fine. It just throws my client off in a big way and that's NOT fine.

14. Multiple line hyperlinks tab out of order when exported to PDF.

    Hi there. For whatever reason, when I have hyperlinks that wrap to a new line in InDesign, Acrobat tabs through them in the reverse order when exported as a PDF. Here is an example:

    [Let's say this sentence is a hyperlink that
    has wrapped to a new line.]

    When exported to a PDF, the tab order starts at [has wrapped to a new line.] then tabs to [Let's say this sentence is a hyperlink that]. And it continues that method throughout the piece. This is with tabbing set to document structure. If I set the tabbing method to "row", it tabs correctly, but that's not ideal in mutli-column layouts. The copy containing the hyperlinks are in single containers.

    I can fix it by diving into the tags in Acrobat and adjusting the order, but that isn't ideal as my InDesign docs usually have numerous hyperlinks, go through multiple proofs, and sometimes have multiple designers touching the piece. Is there a way to correct this in InDesign?

15. Column Rules will NOT overprint when option [x] Overprint is checked and color is NOT [Black]

    Use a swatch like CMYK 0,0,0,100 or CMYK 0,0,0,90 or CMYK 100,0,0,0 for a column rule and turn on overprint.

    Overprint attribute will not applied to the column rules.

    Tested with InDesign 17.1.0.50 on Windows 10.

    NOTE: It seems that ONLY [Black] will overprint.
    Or all tints of [Black] as long as the tints are applied to the column rule in the text frame options dialog for column rules.

    Also tested color "Cyan" by scripting. But also this color will not overprint.

16. Adobe InDesign opening files as read-only

    I am using InDesign v 16.2.1 on a MacBook Pro (Intel) running Big Sur (11.3.1) and connected to a file server on the network via the SMB protocol. Also I have Sophos Endpoint Protection installed. When attempting to open a file on the file server, InDesign opens it in read-only mode. If I attempt to do the same with Sophos turned off, the file opens read-write. It appears that other InDesign/Sophos/Mac customers have experienced the same issue:

17. switching between open files

    Version 17.1
    Every time I have two ID files open (or more than one file), switching between them takes approximately 30 seconds. This has been happening on and off for a few months, but now happens every time I have more than one file open.

18. Font disappears when size of text is changed

    When working in a text box and changing the size of the font, the text disappears altogether. If I change the font to a different one, the text reappears, then change font back to the one I used originally and text disappears again. (For example: changed font from default myriad pro to Ultra--text still showing; changed font size--text disappears; change font to Roboto (or anything else)--text reappears.)
    No matter position of text box, size of box, size of font, changing to overprint view, nothing makes the text reappear except changing the font to something else. Font/text is also missing when the file is exported in any format (jpeg, pdf, etc.)
    Has happened multiple times with different fonts (so far Montserrat and Ultra are the most consistent with this issue) over the last few years (read: many versions of indesign and this is still an issue).
    Currently using the most updated version of indesign (17.2.1).

    When working in a text box and changing the size of the font, the text disappears altogether. If I change the font to a different one, the text reappears, then change font back to the one I used originally and text disappears again. (For example: changed font from default myriad pro to Ultra--text still showing; changed font size--text disappears; change font to Roboto (or anything else)--text reappears.)

19. Share for Review strikethrough & highlight from online edits aren't visible in InDesign

    InDesign Vs. 16 Share for Review: if the reviewer uses the strikethrough text or highlight option, I don't see these in my indesign doc. I can see the strikethrough text on the browser version, but the highlight disppears completely. The review comment is in both places, just not what it's referencing.

20. ID 2020 15.1 - All text variables (including page numbers) replaced by "ss" text

    Just updated to ID 2020 15.1 and found a bug which makes the program unusable forcing me to immediately downgrade.
    When I open on of my ID documents created in previous version of ID, all of my defined text variables as well as page numbers are corrupted and replaced by the "ss" text. Changing the style has no effect. I can create page number based on the 'Basic Paragraph' style but when i choose any other previously created style, the number changes to 'ss'.
    Even the variable field preview shows 'ss' text instead of variable name.
    The same document opens in ID 2020 15.0.3 without any problems.
