InDesign 16.0 saves Converted files in last used folder, not containing folder
On Catalina OSX (10.15.7), InDesign 2021 (16.0) saves a Converted file to the last used Finder folder, rather than the folder the document is contained in.
Happens with 'Save As...', as well as saving InCopy assignments.

The fix for this issue is now available in the latest update of InDesign – version 16.0.1.
Please update to this version to get the fix.

This is still a problem for me. New MacBook Pro with the MI-chip. InDesign 2021 (16.0.2) saves an Exported file to the last used folder, rather than the folder the document is contained in. This is incredibly frustrating for my work process, and crazy that this wasn't caught in QA testing. I just spend 1+hour in the adobe live chat with no solution other than to post a new comment on this uservoice page.

If you click on the tree little dots in Creative cloud, you can update to 16.0.1

16.0.1 is still not showing up in my Updates on CC. I'm on Mojave 10.14.6. Do I have to enable auto update to make this happen or what?

Is it really fixed this time?
Anyone try it yet?
I had to go back to a previous version last time it was determined that it was fixed. I don't want to have to do that again... -

Since Adobe seems to be dragging their feet on this one, here's a SUPER HELPFUL script to use in the meantime. You can also assign this script to a shortcut if you choose.

Please make this simple, logical fix for such a recurring time-consuming problem. 'Save As > Original folder' as the default setting. Like we can for re-linking under Edit > Preferences > File Handling > Links > Default Relink Folder .

Another 14 days are gone and NO Update is available. I don't know why Adobe is not able to provide a hotfix as so many other companies do so in comparable situations. Why is Adobe collecting many bugs instead of providing a hotfix to fix this awful behavior? We are programming Apps and for sure only a few codelines would be necessary to fix it. So why do we have to wait for weeks? So PLEASE fix it NOW!

Form me very shortly is a few days, this post from Ravi Kiran ist now about 9 days old …
I have over 150 customers and probably more than a million folder s and files. Would be helpfull if this bug is fixed «very shortly» and we do not have to wait for a christmas present.Guido Köhler from Switzerland

I'm having this same issue on Mojave 10.14.6
I drove myself crazy and spent 30 mins trying to find a file that was saved in the wrong spot.
How do I get the beta build fix?
