1. Output settings don't appear to be saved in Adobe PDF presets anymore in Indesign 17.4

   I rely on Adobe PDF Presets in Indesign. In version 17.4, it appears that output settings saved in custom presets are not observed anymore. I had a preset for low res pdfs with colour settings in output set to RGB values for online viewing. Worked great for years. Now I have to go in and turn off "all spots to Process" all the time.

2. I have to double click to access menus, drop down doesn't work on one click

   1 . I updated my Mac to Monterey v12.2 and then Indesign issues began. I can not one click on my navigation, I have to double click to access drop down menu and then the menu stays on the screen does not clear.

   Also I cannot access sub-menus in the drop. ie: FILE > OPEN RECENT

   First off I have to double click to access the FILE drop down menu and then when i scroll down to OPEN RECENT, i cannot access that menu

3. Linked Images Disappearing/ InDesign Files Opening as Read-Only

   Good morning!

   After my computer updated to Monterey 12.3.1, the linked images in InDesign files (indd) turn black or static or with colored stripes like bad reception on an old TV. The link panel did not show a broken link but I had to manually relink all the files. I've tried reinstalling InDesign and going back to an earlier version of InDesign. All to no avail.

   A second problem that occurred is that InDesign files would only open as read only. When I tried to resave it said that someone had them checked out or I didn't have permissions to the file. I am not working off a server, but I am working off an external hard drive. I checked the permissions on the folders and everything is set read/write for me.

   I'm stumped. :) I'm working on M1 iMac, OS 12.3.1 and InDesign 17.2.1

5. Unable to print using Separations with trap Application Built In

   When sending a 2+ color job with trap to RIP via Indesign, I keep getting "Printing Error: The Adobe Print Engine has failed to output your data due to an unknown problem." This seems to be an issue with the last 3 versions, along with the updates. I've uninstalled print drivers and reinstalled. Deleted cache files. For a short time I was able to print using an older version on Id but its no longer and option. My coworker who is on Mac has no problem printing with trap. Not sure what's going on. I contacted Adobe when the problem first arose and went back and forth with them for over a week, tech even remoted in, nothing was fixed. Anyone else?

6. spell check is changing the language to Catalan

   Hi there! I've worked in Indesign for the last 20 years and recently there is a bug in the spell-check feature. Every time I run that feature, it starts out in English and then abruptly changes to Catalan which finds every single word to be wrong. I've changed it in my preferences and even restarted my computer.

7. submitting an idea to the this form gives 404 error

   When submitting a post to this forum instead of a confirmation page you see a page saying "page not found". When I check my activity the submission shows up there.

8. Load DTD throws error in InDesign 2022 (17.0)

   When using the structure menu to load a DTD , the latest version of InDesign sometimes throws an error with a single period as the message. I'm using the same DTD I've used successfully in previous versions of InDesign.

   In the context of this DTD, line 941 column 18 points to the % sign used to refer to an earlier parameter entity. This has never been a problem for InDesign before:

   <!ELEMENT sam (%paragraph_styles; | table | footnote | endnote)+ >

   Even using the same DTD in the same file, this issue doesn't always occur. I am typically able to get around the issue by scrolling around the document or clicking on text boxes, then simply running the tool again. It's unclear what could be causing this different behavior each time the tool is run.

   This also affects document.loadDtd in the scripting object model.

9. Cannot click top MacOS Menu Bar with Indesign running

   With Indesign 17 running, top menu bar on MacOS Monterey is unclickable (Apple menu onwards - e.g. File, Edit etc). Sometimes releasing the mouse makes the dropdown menu appear - but can't click on items - or the menu next to the one wanted appears). Quitting InDesgn restores the top menu to normal functions for other Apps.

10. Can't type letter "n" in text boxes

    For some reason I can't type the letter "n" in text boxes in indesign v 17.3 on Windows 10.

    In some text boxes, typing "n" does not generate the letter. In tables, typing "n" can sometimes change the cell style or paragraph style, and does not generate the letter.

    I don't have caps lock or a stuck control / alt key ... Everything else is working fine.

11. InDesign Window Moves Slightly Offscreen (So I Can't Adjust Window Size) When Plugged Into External QHD Display

    I'm using a 14" M1 Pro Macbook Pro, and when plugging into an external display (QHD), Indesign's top window moves slightly offscreen (see attached picture). Goes away when I unplug the display, but quite annoying to have to remember to resize the window before plugging it into a display since I can't resize the window another way without that top bar accessible.

12. can't resize window on left or right edge

    Can not resize document window from left or right edge when document is maximized. Top, bottom and corner resizing works fine. If I resize from one of those first, all works well and left/right edges can be resized. If I then maximize the window again, left and right edge resize stops working.
    I've had this problem with CC 2021 and 2022.

    The overset text must be added to the next text frame but it is added to new page instead.

14. IDML Saving Stuck at 95% in InDesign 2022 - v 17.0.1x64 - Windows 10 Pro x64

    Idml Export Stuck at 95% for Indesign file (604) pages mostly text , i tried many times and resave the file in different indd file name and location, and still stuck in 95% when saving to IDML, even in exporting to IDML or Packaging the Project, the problem is the same

15. Macbook Pro Notch Cuts Into Fullscreen View

    1. InDesign version 17.0.1 on MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2021)
    2. Previewing a document in Full Screen (Shift + W) and returning to normal view (Shift + W or ESC).
    3. Document should be displayed below the notch, like other full screen applications do. When returning to normal view, the InDesign window should be the same size as before full screen view.
    4. The notch of the new MacBook Pro (2021) cuts into the preview. When returning to non-full screen view, the InDesign window is pushed down / resized so that the status bar is not visible.

16. Application crashes/closes without submitting error log when trying to re-link or replace a file via drag and drop

    I am using the most recent version of indesign (17.4).

    When I try to re link a file (a PSD in this instance) or to use drag and drop to change the file to something else, the application completely shuts.

    It does not produce an error log and I have even tried regedit to get it to gather a crash dump but no joy.

    I have tried to revert to a previous instance of InDesign but this does not fix the issue either.

17. %-Sliders not working properly anymore when palette attached to the right edge

    InDesign 17.2 / 17.4: Ever since these two releases came out, I am not able to use my palettes when they are attached to the right edge of my workspace. Example: I want an item in 76 % magenta. I select the item, click ”effects" (Effekte for me, since my default language is German), then choose magenta. Finally I want to slide the percentage to 76. As soon as I touch the slider, the tool disappears. This happens to sliders as in Colors and Transparency, and only if the tools are arranged in a list view in the sidebar. Setting the percentage manually works fine.

    AND: setting the percentage with the slider works, when I pull the effects tool away from the right edge bar, or when I change the sidebar to the full view instead of the small list view.

    As soon as the palette stands for its own, it works fine. So the problem ONLY accurs when I have it attached in a side bar - which I have to, since I am working with only one monitor. This problem started with 17.2. Today I updated to 17.4 and it's still there.

18. Share for Review - Critical Scrolling Bug with Large Documents

    Indesign Version 17.0

    When scrolling in large documents (200-500 pages) the browser-window of Share for Review the screen hops between 3-5 different screens multiple times a second. This bug makes the feature basically unusable. Sometimes it snaps back (maybe after rendering correctly?), sometimes it just doen't.

    The bigger the document, the faster the error seems to occur. Working on my 200 page-document with my team is essentially impossible right now.

    Our team has this problem on Mac, Windows - and on Safari, Chrome and Firefox (didn't check other browsers yet). We tested this on 7 different devices, all crashed equally.

20. Bug: Find/Change of conditional text partially bad

    Version: Indesign 17.x, Windows 10
    Description: Find/Change dialog cannot find a text that has two or more conditions set when you select one of these to find.
    Step to reproduce:
    1. Write some text and mark a word.
    2. Create two conditions, A and B, and assign them to that word. Exit edit mode.
    3. Open Find/Change and set the filter in "Conditions" to find condition A only.
    Result: Indesign cannot find a match. Logical bug.
