conditional GREP formatting
We need to add conditional GREP formatting. For eg. in screen 1 (yellow highlighted text) tagged in xml, and are able capture with GREP styling. But when we put condition, it also captures unwanted text in same GREP style (cyan highlighted), tagged with same xml tag. It would be great as conditional text, i.e.. "IF x=y then DO 'this'" OTHERWISE APPLY 'this style'.
If such option available in indesign, it would be a great help as we are doing frontend xml publishing.

Change page size not only centered, but for example add 2 cm to the right side only
It would be super handy if the size could be changed at any direction as easily as with the anchors in "Canvas size" in Photoshop. I know it is possible with the Page Tool, but I would love for it to be "in the right place", i.e. in the Page setup window.

Share for Review - Image Quality
Bring the optimized quality of Share for Review images up to the level of acceptable web-based image optimization at 100% size.
I understand the need to optimize images for high-performance quick reviews. However, the current setting is far too low. Upgrading the image quality to an acceptable web-image optimization will help reduce feedback loops with concerns from stakeholders over bad image quality.
In my review workflows using Shared for Review, I am now constantly exporting and sending separate PDFs to reviewers to prove image quality based on concerns from the Share for Review representation.
Please know that the Share for…

improve pdf comments!
Firstly, kudos on the improved PDF comments. They are much much faster. No comparison. Thank you. It also seems to be working (although not tested much) much better with mixed English and Hebrew.
However, if you look at the attached screenshot, ❶ the comment icon is small and b/w. It would be extremely helpful if this was large and ❷ just like in DC, the comments box wastes tons of space. It would be nice if the text was much larger. This was executed very nicely in Acrobat XI (ruined in DC which nobody can use now). Could you…

Artifact dot leaders
When dealing with accessibility compliance and Table of Contents, it is best practice to artifact the dot leaders so the user does not have to listen to "dot dot dot" or "35-dot" before each page number. If we could assign a artifact TAG to the leader in the panel when we create the TOC settings that would save HOURS of work on the PDF side having to artifact each one.

Make index 'New Page Reference' box resizable
When creating an index, in order to provide any sort of categorisation, you have to use the 'New Page Reference' box, where you can add multiple categories, See [also], etc.
Currently this box is a fixed size, which makes reusing existing entries (for consistency) very painful, as it involves a lot of scrolling and opening of previous categories (as the categories are collapsed by default every time it's used.
My suggestion would be to make this box both resizable and that it remembers which categories have been expanded previously - for bonus points, it would be great if is remembered…

Managing Multiple Sets of Endnotes In a Document AND allowing Endnotes to refer to a separate INDD Document
Issue #1:
Here's my first dilemma: I am building a book with several hundred pages. This book will be printed (won't be an eBook/iBook). I'm keeping each chapter as its own document that I will then collect together as a larger Book at the end. The last chapter will be just for all the book's endnotes. In previous versions of InDesign, I would import the Word document, delete the endnotes out of the "Chapter x" document, and pop them back into the "Endnotes chapter" without affecting the superscripts referencing the endnotes throughout the text. Easy. Now, in cc 2018…104 votes -
Preserve zoom when selecting a PDF comment
Selecting an imported PDF comment causes the document to zoom to fit, which in cases may result in the font size being hard to read. One can zoom in then, but when clicking on the next comment it will zoom out again. Frustrating and onerous. If the designer could control the zoom and it remained where she left it that would make using this great feature easier.

Navigator panel like in Illustrator
Hi,
don't know if anybody else already mentioned this but indesign could really use a navigator panel like illustrator has one, the zoom in and out buttons are really handy and much quicker to use than Zoom in and zoom out functions under the view menu (I'm not much of a shortcut using guy…) and also dragging the red square to navigate is super handy
Thank you in advance!6 votes -
InDesign 2018 USER INTERFACE STILL TOO SMALL!
Over the years I (and others) have requested that the UI of InDesign be scalable. As designers, our eyes navigate us thru the creative process.
IT IS NOT EASY to readily decipher palettes and menus which sport MICROSCOPIC TYPE on a 28-inch, high-resolution monitor.
It IMPEDES workflow if one is spending extra time trying to find and choose things on the interface.
At least give us a choice! Smaller, Medium, Large, Extra-large.When will Adobe get this??????

Book panel - synchronize only select styles
Currently the book panel has an option to synchronize styles [paragraph and character] to the currently slected default file/chapter. However, it would be really useful to be able to only selectively synchronize specific styles instead of all styles. For instance, in my book with many fiels/chapters I have variations of styles based upon each individual chapter/fiel. However, certain styles such as the running head, the footer, page numbers I would like to be able to ensure that they are all the same without overwriting all the other styles tha t may have changed.

Load Master Pages the same as Paragraph and Character Styles
Load Master Page options should be same as Loading Paragraph/Character Styles, with options to choose which Master you want to load/overwrite. I have documents with multiple Masters, but I may just want to update one of them. In current state, I have to load all Masters from another document, which forces unwanted changes to the other Master Pages that did not require updating.

Creating Imposition of Documents
Creating Imposition of Documents when packaging and exporting to PDF it should ask which type of binding you required (staple pin, hardbound, saddle stich, gum bind etc) , the size of paper, Start of document first page for example in english the first page starts from right and Arabic it is reverse and then creates a pdf with imposition layout to the print format.
I have attached screen shot which is layout of imposition of pdf document.

Side panels should slide down instead of popping out.
I think the side panels like Page, Colour, Links etc should slide down instead of popping out. See attached gif

Page numbering
Provide an easy application of styles to include zero as a second digit. For example, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 etc.

Open a new file and see the full page upon opening
When you open a document, the upper left corner should appear in the upper left corner of the window. Then you won't have to scroll to see the page. Currently it opens on the pasteboard with the upper left corner in the middle of the window so it's mostly hidden.
So annoying. I hope you can fix it.

No repeat option wanted for headers and footers in table options
When you've got headers and footers in tables, there is no way to prevent them from repeating at all.
There are currently three options in InDesign Table Options:
1. Every Text Column
2. Once per Frame
3. Once per PageI'd like to see an option for "NONE" or "NO REPEAT".
I can also think of "Once per Spread" as a valid setting, but NONE is the most important, since the current solution is to convert the headers to body rows, and that destroys the information about the header rows actually being headers.

Variable for dimensions
It would be very useful to have a text variable for dimensions of the page/trimbox/bleedbox or even for objects (along the lines of a caption).

Ability to specify a baseline start in a Paragraph style
Would like to use a Paragraph style to be able to set the first line of a paragraph to a specific baseline. For example, on a page like this the first paragraph also needs to start on the same baseline, but there wouldn’t always be a byline, so I would need to make another, or multiple, Paragraph styles for the main head (“Foreword”) in order to sink the first paragraph to the same baseline.

List out page numbers when deleting pages
When deleting pages, a simple "You are deleting pages #X- #X" confirmation would be great, just to confirm the intended pages are selected for deletion. Currently, it just confirms you want to delete "the selected pages," which is vague.
