Content Placer Tool Thumbnail to Size
Would it be possible to have an option to have the content placer tool thumbnail be proportional to the page it is being placed on? I use this tool to make large multiple image proofs from images placed into a client-supplied file and need to show them at the placed size. When I place them on the page, using the content placer tool, I cannot gauge the size until it is placed. I have to move them around to make them fit after placing a few and so on until all images are placed. Being able to see the…

Command Line
I think this feature would make all Adobe products so much faster, easier to use, and more efficient. Something where you could turn it off and on and type your command, or a custom alias, and immediately activate the tool or menu item you want. It could just be something you toggle in the Window menu and that could appear at the top of the screen under the upper toolbar.

Allow more formatting of running heads
I'm working on a book whose running heads use both bold and roman type. (Chapter 1: Chapter title where "Chapter 1:" is bold and "Chapter TItle" is roman. As far as I know, I can't use variables or automatic section heads to format this way so have resorted to having a separate master page for each chapter.

Automatic page addition or subtraction when links are updated
Dear Team,
My organization uses InDesign to compile our tender documents which vary from about 200 pages to 3000 pages in pdf format. These documents tend to change in terms of the number of pages with each tender. It would save a lot of time if InDesign would check for the new page numbers and add or remove the pages accordingly when updating links. Currently if I update my pdf file to have a few more pages, InDesign does not recognize the extra pages and therefore excludes them all together. I have to manually…

Hide/Filter pages in pages panel AND navigation
I got myself in a workflow where I would have a document having sections organised like that : title page / content page / title page / content page…
I have to go back and forth between the content pages, and sometimes between the title pages.
That helps to compare what has changed and what’s consistent between the pages.
So I try to not distract my eye by either going to the pages panel or by ctrl-page up with the « title pages » interruption (think about the (now long gone) photoshop cmd-Z…4 votesThank you for reporting the issue.

Multiple masters for pages
I design the labels for a company. They have a huge amount of products, and a lot of times the same product has a different label when the weight is different, or when the product is sold to a specific location.
It would be great to have the option to apply multiple masters per page. That way you can separate some repeating graphics that occur in certain situations. I would like to be able to have certain elements of the design be applied in certain labels, and I would like it to be with a master. So a label…

ENHANCED CROSS-REFERENCES - FOOTNOTES
I was working on a document where the client had references in footnotes to other references: e.g. "See footnote 6". It would be great to have that be an auto updating cross-reference. (like paragraph numbers or page numbers work now)
You can already choose the "footnote" paragraph style, but the reference footnote number cannot be included in the script. Please fix that

Find all instances of a Paragraph Style
Find all instances of a Paragraph Style in a document via the Paragraph Styles panel. Like you can see with Links, be able to view the pages that the styles exist on and jump to these pages by clicking on the page number in the panel or be able to navigate through them with up and down arrows

allow me to hide/unhide some tools on main tool panel
some tools (page tool, gap tool, content collector) are rarely used and I'd like to stop accidentally selecting them, I'd like to hide some of them some of the time.

Ideas to improve PublishOnline document navigation
I often get reports back from clients and users that 'there is only one page in that online link you sent'. I figure if I get a report back like this, there must be a fair few more who experience this but don't report back...
Viewing a PDF document online via a UI like this is not a common experience for many user types. To improve their experience I propose:
– An option to always show the page thumbnail selector.
– Larger, more prominent page left and right arrows.
– Option to advance through pages on scroll down (or…15 votes -
Please make the Paragraph Style Options panel resizable
When on a laptop, opening the Paragraph Style Options takes almost the whole size of my laptop screen. There is no way to resize this, and it is almost impossible to view the effect of the changes you are making.

master page & character style search function
Add On for Organized ID Files:
Search function for Master Pages and character/Paragraph... styles. In addition to the suggested folders, a search function would be great.Edit 1.1.2021:
For very large Indesign files and especially for accessibility productions, it would be an immense advantage and make work easier if you could find the sample pages as well as the format templates (paragraphs, characters, tables, etc.) more quickly using the search function.
A folder structure for the sample pages would also be an advantage. For the format templates, the function of After Effects would be…3 votes -
Refine "No Break" by providing suboptions
While hyphenation preferences can be refined at the Paragraph (style) level, Character (style) options only provide a boolean “No Break” attribute which prevents line breaks whatever the location of the text in the layout.
Note, for example, that “Hyphenate Across Column” is available as a paragraph option while the user may actually want to turn on/off column breaks from within a character style. The “No Break” attribute is then too harsh, since it fully disallows line breaking.
Suppose a ITEMS character style is associated to proper names or book titles. We may want to allow regular line breaking for these…

Choose page number when inserting a PDF
When inserting a pdf into a frame box, it would be nice to be able to select which page number you'd like to insert (with a preview). Similar to when you open a PDF in illustrator.

Object style frame fitting: add 'align towards/away from spine'
This feature very useful for paragraph styles, for aligning type on facing pages on a spread. Would be equally useful for objects, so can align images towards/away from spine

Please add the possibility to create the page height below 73px.
Especially for the design of web banners sometimes a smaller page height is important.
Despite frame distances of 0px and web setting an error message appears with a page height of 72px or lower.1 vote -
Add lowercase, Title, and Toggle to Case in style definition options
When defining a style, under Basic Character Formats, it would be very helpful to force lowercase! (And also add Title and Toggle case options so all case possibilities are present)
This is especially needed when replacing acronyms (usually typed in all-caps in manuscripts) with the appropriate small caps. It is very time consuming to manually retype all-caps acronyms in lowercase, then apply small caps character styling to it!
Try doing this for a 300-page book....you'll want to cut your eyes out.

Extract/Save Individual Pages in an Indesign Document as a Separate InDesign File
Please please please consider making a feature where you can extract pages/spreads in an InDesign document as a separate InDesign file. I work in Proposals for a Civil Engineering firm and our proposals are generally 100+ pages with a lot of resumes and project pages. After each proposal is complete we have to go in and save every resume in each person's resume folder and every project page in its respective folder. It takes such a long time to create a new indesign document for each resume and project and copy/paste it over and then save in…
