Embed InDesign's Acrobat export settings in pdfs so they can be retrieved by other users.
PDFs are often delivered in artwork packages with no indication of what settings were used to make them.
Files are then updated, localised, re-worked by other users (I specialise in localisation DTP) and then PDFs are required with the same settings.
If these aren't saved in the InDesign file then it would be great to be able to "import" the settings from a PDF that has been made with this feature enabled. It would save having to revert to clients who themselves may not know the settings used by the original designers / printers.

Character Limits, Comb Line Form Fields and Font Alignment for Form Fields
Hello,
I would like to suggest that character limits can be set for comb line form fields. Also I would like there to be a possibility of creating comb line form fields (without creating tables). In addition, there should be alignment of the text as an option in the form field (whether left, center or right). This would save so much time and effort so that once the document is exported as a tagged PDF, those features mentioned would also be set. Finally, there should be a way to tag layout tables so that it does not register as…

Hyperlink to open a file in server doesn't work
Hi
Here's my problem.
I try to make a pdf with hyperlinks that lead to some files. (Jpg,doc,xlsx...)
Those files are on a server shared by all my colleagues.
But the link never work in the pdf.
Acrobat or other pdf reader try to connect to internet instead of opening the files. whatever the option i choose in the hyperlink pannel, i see that indesign add url=http before my link.
Anyone know how we could fix that bug ???2 votes -
It is recommended that “GREP”, “Shortcuts”, “PDF preset templates” in the directory can be quoted in the directory shortcuts.
Just as I can copy the shortcut to my script directory (D:\myscript) to the InDesign script directory (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign 2024\Scripts\Scripts Panel\Samples), I can use my existing scripts without having to copy them to this location. I can use the existing scripts without copying them to this location.
Just copy “myscipt.lnk” to Samples. For example, these locations, of course it would be nice to add these to the preferences to be able to import and export, that would be more convenient.
The benefit of course, is that you don't have to worry about losing these files, because it's just shortcuts…1 vote -

Better offline interactive products.
More and more product needs to be interactive.
Indesign allows us to make beautiful interactive pdf's. But there's a problem, the i-pdf doesn't work on all pdf-viewers and pre-viewers. Only adobe-reader or opening in the browser, but not directly from for example Gmail. Also some functions in indesign could work much better, for example the button; it work perfectly as an roll-over, but not as a click-go-to-pageX. Those functions should be usable together.
Can we make an i-pdf feel like/work as an offline website? And i would love to see more features/functions!

Slug capabilities
When we set up a new indesign document for an ad or for a brochure, we incorporate slugs at the top and the bottom for tracking specs, revisions, and proofing. Our bottom slug has an internal proofing checklist that we don't like the client to see when we output for print or PDF. Before we can output we have to go into the document set up box and remove the slug at the bottom. Then we have to turn it back on when we get a revision. It would be extremely helpful if you could add slugs to the …

fix options for interactive forms (text fields) - default text, font, size, color, alignment, etc. - none currently work CC 21
when making interactive PDF, the Text field doesn't hold the default text, or the font, size and doesn't hold the color.... The text field should hold all the text & attributes that are set in indesign, but even the options for the text field doesn't hold the font or size.

Export In Size
Hello.
It would be nice when we export in PDF or JPG to specify a size in MO to limit the size. And the compression automatically adjust to respect the size we've entered.
It would avoid us to go on websites like IlovePDF to compress files.
Thanks.

Export alternate layouts with layout name
It's been mentioned before, but seriously, it would save a lot of time, especially when exporting assets for social media that use the same size all the time. And that the export layout name is used in all exports nor only pdf.
Illustrator is able to do this =)

Incorporate the feature for hyperlinks and buttons to open the clicked url in a new browser window.
Please can you incorporate the feature for hyperlinks and buttons to have the option to open the clicked url in a new browser window. I feel this is something that would be farely easy for a developer to introduce as a feature, that would greatly benefit alot of Designers that use Adobe InDesign to publish interactive pdfs online.

The ability to unlink footnote/endnotes from references, thus turning the footnote/endnotes into static notes.
As a designer who typesets thousands of pages of academic research annually, the ability to convert footnotes to endnotes and vice versa is a helpful addition (thanks InDesign team), but more features are needed:
The ability to unlink footnote/endnotes from references, thus turning the footnote/endnotes into static notes.
Currently this process is accomplished only via the benevolence and magic of Peter Kahrel's script, available here: http://www.kahrel.plus.com/indesign/end_to_static_CC2018.jsx
The reason being, I can no longer use the InDesign XML tagging feature while the footnote/endnotes remain linked—for some reason, XML tagging of footnote/endnote text is not supported!
If you'll indulge me, here's a…

Plate selection for composite export or print to PDFs
Creating a single composite PDF by choosing the desired plates. This would help greatly in my current workflow where I create impositions with dielines and need to have a print file and cut file separately. The dieline works as a seperated plate. But we cannot create a composite without the spot.

Data Merge for spreads
it should be possible to export Data Merge directly to PDF as spread. So you don't have to create an InDesign-File first or edit your InDesign-File to generate an single page file.

Share for Review - Option for reviewers to toggle single page and spread view.
It would be great if the review online interface had the option to view the project as spreads or as single pages.
My coworkers who review prefer to make notes/revisions as single pages, but the publications I create are designed as spreads. It's a pain to go through and share as single pages and then move them back to spreads as I work. It would save me from exporting extra PDF samples to show full layouts when there is so much back and forth.

Expand exporting options to include splitting an ID file
I would like to be able to export multiple-page InDesign files as single-page pdfs and use the section markers as the pdf file names.

Support for .oam files in interactive pdf‘s
Wouldn’t it be great if you could publish an interactive Pdf and have the ability to see some basic animation to help tell your desired story? I’m not talking about an ePub here, or an outdated flash file. I’m suggesting that a widely accepted format across multiple platforms, the Pdf, should have the capability to play an lightweight animation / .oam / .gif rather than only be able to have a huge .mp4, with massive compression!
Surely by now we could have some nice .svg animation. Is html5 able to be implemented into in design? There must be a…
