Indesign: Add Previous and Next Buttons in Text Variables input screen
Right now you have to open, save and close each text variable. Please add Previous and Next Buttons in the text variable input screen so you don't have to open and closes each time to edit/add.

Add an option to hide Text via caracter format setting
Add a checkbox to the character format settings that allows users to hide text. In some situations it is very useful to use grep rules to hide certain text elements. Until now, the color of the font had to be removed and had to set the size to 0.1.

More options for importing text styles
Please add extra options (in the screenshot), the two I would mostly love is only keep bold and italic styles.
Have a lot of text every day to import from word, with lots of bold and italic noted words.
I think a lot of people would love this feature!

Copy CMYK, RGB values in Color Picker as text
I would like to be able to copy RGB or CMYK values as text so I can paste them elsewhere. This would be helpful in my daily work where I make color palettes and then describe them with text in a brand guide. See the attached screenshot where I am currently updating CMYK and RGB values by hand from the color picker.

Please make the text size in panels bigger.
It is hard to read the headings and the small instructions in the panels. It would be great if you as a user could adjust the size. not only the size of panels (when you drag to make it bigger) but also of the tect inside of the panels.
If this alternative already excist please give me a hint.

Create paragraph style from manual formatting and apply to all text with the same formatting
A common task is converting manual text formatting to a paragraph style. It would be great if there were a way to do this automatically.
For example, suppose I was given a LONG document in which Helvetica 12pt text is the body style, but no actual paragraph style exists for this—all the formatting is manual.
The current best way to solve this problem is to perform a Find/Change operation for all text formatted as Helvetica 12pt and replace it with my paragraph style for "body text." This works but is tedious, especially when there are many styles in the…

Would like to add a separate gradient applied just to text, not related to textframe, just to the word (or any textcharacter)
I would like to apply a gradient to characters and words only, not related to the textframe in which they are printed.
If I have one or a few words in a gradient designed, and due to a textedit the word flows to the other (or a previous) line, the gradient appears different than how I designed it.
At this time it is either only related to the textframe, or I'd have to convert the text to outlines.
Or, as a workaround I can take the word out, place it in a separate textframe,…

Set the baseline of the first line of an object to the actual height of the first line of text
There is no standard in fonts what to use for the value of ascend. Some use the height of, say, the 'k' character. Others enter the highest glyph (including those with diacritics). Basically, that means that using ascend for the first baseline is unreliable if fonts change. The best solution would be to calculate the actual 'max glyph height' of what is actually on the first line so that the text fits exactly to the top of the frame. Using 'cap height' is not a prefect solution too as some fonts have a cap height that is smaller than…

Grep style formatting for variables
Active linked variables and Grep styles do not work together.
When you use variables and paragraph formats with Grep styles, you have to set the variable back to text and lose the link, to enable formatting with the Grep style.
Variables should be handled by InDesign like normal text, with all features of formatting etc.

Put Distribute Spacing icons in the Control Bar
I use these controls along with the align controls every day. There's no reason they can't be grouped together with the align controls in the control bar.
I keep all my tool palettes on a second monitor, so the Align buttons in the control bar are 30" away from the Distribute Spacing icons in the Properties panel of the second monitor.

Changing the Language of Placeholder Text
If you want to change the 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐞𝐱𝐭 to a different language, you need to:
1. Click 𝐓𝐲𝐩𝐞
2. Hold down the 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝 (Mac) or 𝐂𝐓𝐑𝐋 (PC) key
3. Then click 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐞𝐱𝐭
4. 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐎𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 appearsThat's four steps.
A simpler way would be to add under 𝐓𝐲𝐩𝐞 before 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐞𝐱𝐭:
𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐎𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 >
Cyrillic
Roman
Greek
Hebrew
Arabic
Japanese
Korean
Simplified Chinese

Make text wrap around Drop Cap
Please make the text wrap around the Drop Cap as it does when you make the Drop Cap into an object. See examples. This would save about 10 minutes of faffing around for every Drop Cap. Doesn't seem like much but it's a pain when you're working on a book with many chapters.

Export JPEGs with Text/Art optimized export settings
I consistently use InDesign to develop static mobile and web banner and export them as JPEG or PNG. Currently I feel that the quality of the export is not as good as an export from Photoshop or Illustrator - there is no ability to prioritize the text or artwork like the two software can. Could this be added in InDesign please, maybe even mimic the save-for-web functionality from Photoshop/Illustrator.

Split Story
When working on long documents, it's often unwieldy working with a single long text block, and splitting stories involves cutting and pasting, which takes time and creates possibilities for error. Instead, we should be able to split a text thread with a single click and KEEP the text where it was (instead of having the text as excess in the first text block, with blank text boxes thereafter). A StorySplitter script was created that does this, but I can't seem to get it to work.
Such a basic feature should be included in InDesign.

Please fix text boxes after accepting a PDF comment
When importing PDF comments and accepting the markup/comment, the text box becomes unresponsive until you click off and back on multiple times. This has been an unaddressed bug for years. I am working on a catalogue with over 1,000 comments, this is going to double the time it takes to work on each page. Please fix this bug

Vertical tabs (for better vertical justification in/between para spacing)
There are already similar requests for a fix for the Vertical Justification problem & I'm dealing with this at the moment: several paragraphs & needing the bottom-most para (a 2-line inline table) to appear on the bottom line of the text frame. I have spent so many hours & tried setting it in a table (amongst other things) but, really, it makes more work & I need a Paragraph Border at the sides as a column rule - which was great in a table but which doesn't seem to work on the bottom table paragraph. I'd prefer it as…

Allow negative indentation!
Please allow negative indentation!
That would make all kinds of hanging bullets, chapter numbers and outdentations easy without any workaround (like "indent everything but the headlines and lists" ...). It would make text layout faster, purer and cleaner, as the type area could be correctly defined just for the copy text.
I think this simple change should be easy to implement and bring enormous relief for our craft.
