Request for Native HEX Color Support in Adobe InDesign for Modern Digital Workflows
I would really like the ability to use HEX color values directly in InDesign. I understand that InDesign is primarily designed with print workflows in mind, where CMYK and spot colors are the standard, but more and more of us are working in hybrid or fully digital environments.
As teams continue to move their entire design workflows into Adobe Creative Cloud, having better support for digital-first color systems would make a big difference. Being able to input HEX codes natively would help bridge the gap between design tools and web or UI workflows, where HEX is the standard.
It would…

Make it possible to add ad Swatch from within the Style editing panels
When editing a style and realising that a certain Swatch is not made yet, is a bit frustrating, since Swatches can not be added on the fly.
Why not make it possbile to edit a color and add a Swatch in the style editing panel? Or let have styles their own colors without the need of a Swatch.1 vote -
Directly create transparency on letters/words in a text frame
Currently it is not possible to define a letter or words within a text frame with a certain percentage of transparency. It is only possible to adjust the Tint. In the Effects Panel, the Transparency options are greyed out (not accessible).
Sometimes in a design you want to create such text effects, which at the moment can only be achieved with a workaround: an anchored text frame which poses several challenges if the transparent text runs over several lines.
Affinity Publisher offers this right out of the box in the current version (2.3.1). Quark Xpress can do this as…

file version-control
At the moment I control versions of a project with different files:
project-xy-01.indd
project-xy-02.indd
project-xy-03.indd
project-xy-04.indd
....It would be helpful for my narrow disk-space to have the versions in one file! If I need to go back to a former version of the project it would be nice to have a panel where I have a visual overview of the former versions (I generated) which I can label and select.

Create a tool called Work Checker.
I propose that the developers create a tool called "Work Checker." This tool would feature a screen where any design with multiple pages could be presented like a video. The "Player" should offer adjustable speeds to navigate through the pages. What would the benefit be?
This tool would allow us to compare our layouts in a "spatial" way, making it easier to ensure that the elements on each page maintain aesthetic coherence throughout the entire piece. It would also help identify any "jumps" in elements that disrupt the overall design aesthetic.

Eliminate Basic Paragraph style
Please eliminate the Basic Paragraph Style. Don’t just allow users to delete it (but if nothing else, at least do that). Remove the style from new documents and don’t have it in the panel by default.
The style is a trap. Users who edit the style or use the style and base other styles on Basic Paragraph usually fall into a trap when copying and pasting text between documents that have different definitions of the style. The text will paste in with different formatting that in the source document. When this happens there are usually one of two reactions: “How…

Add Ligature Manager Palette
In order to enable the user of ID to enable or disable one or more discretionary or standard ligature(s) in a document, because unicode and opentype technologies provided font designers with the excellent tools to make very complex fonts. Also in Character palette, the ligatures enabling or disabling has no shorcut command, (I still use CS3), so would you add customization palette to all Adobe Products?

Support ID Books!
As a freelancer corralling multiple ID files, many which share Styles, Parent Pages and other elements, or need to output in a certain order as a combined PDF, I have long used the Book function in ID and MANY OF MY CLIENTS DO AS WELL. This feature of InDesign is still bare bones, undeveloped and buggy. It needs attention from developers! Here are my wishes for Adobe InDesign Books:
1) The Book Panel is still bare bones. Simply give it your attention.
2) I want all the fly-out menu options for a book to be available with a secondary click/contextual…

Miro/Keynote-style simplified pen tool and magnetising arrows for diagrams.
Often I have to make flow charts and diagrams for our projects, and the power of the hyper-manual pen tool and frames tends to show down the design process when compared to similar processes in Miro or Keynote. If there was a way to make a simple curved line and magnetise it to a text box that would make pushing around content 1000% faster.

ChatGPT Integration in InDesign for Text Editing and Proofreading
Please add an option in InDesign to integrate text review using ChatGPT. Ideally, this would function as a standalone panel, where we could log in with our own ChatGPT account. Through this panel, we would be able to have the text checked either as a proofreader or as an editor in a special mode—for instance, if the text overflows, it could be shortened to fit the box or page. Similarly, it could generate titles based on the text.

Better Relinking to CC Libraries
I'd love to see some much needed quality of life/functionality improvements to CC Libraries in InDesign when relinking:
Ability to Search when relinking
Ability to see/sort by groups when relinking
Ability to change view (thumbnail/list) when relinking to CC Libraries
Infact, anything more than the current 'Relink to CC Librarires' functionality, which is literally just a list of every single asset in that library sorted by name
We have thousands of assets in some of our libraries, which are all nicely sorted by group. But this is useless when this is completely ignored by the CC Libraries panel.

"Search tool " as we have in ArcGIS software...
Looking for some specific tool is daunting especially for newbie....So if you could add "search tool" somewhere it would be easy for look up for specific tool and see the difference.
I have used in ArcGIS software the same feature.
Thank you very much.1 vote -
Make it possible to adjust page count in the adjust layout dialog
When using the adjust layout feature to change the size of your document and content you cannot change the page count. You have to take the extra step to go back to the Document Setup to change the page count. Really, both of the tools should just be merged together and a check box is all that is needed to turn on and off the adjust layout option.

Drag text to library and create a link
When I drag
ndrop a text to the library-panel there is is NO link betrween the textframe and the library-item.
I have to delet the textframe and drag´n´dop it back to the document to create a link.Is that smart?
I wish I could drag a text to the library and create a link in one step.

Style counters
I would find very helpful to have a counter near any style (in particular for tables, but can work with other styles too) that enlights the number of items to whom is assigned the style and add a function, similar to the error panel, in which one can scroll to the elements, double clicking, and be brought to the item itself.

Add a new menu item to the menu bar: Indexes
Ideally, indexing should have a menu all its own. The fact that it's only got a panel that opens from the Windows menu suggests it's an afterthought, and it's very limiting, because it means I can't create my own keyboard shortcuts for indexing functions.

Height & width in object styles needs more options
I did try out the new H&W feature in CC2018 using it on a image frame with a picture inside it. I anchored it to the heading of each chapter and wanted to see if I could resize the image from the object style panel. This did not work the way I was hoping for; There is no way to lock the H&W proportions so that the frame fits the image dimensions. I could not determine a reference point from where the frame is growing. A great upgrade to the feature would be: Lock proportions, scale content with the…

Trademark, registered trademark, n-dash, and m-dash shortcuts
Bring back the keyboard shortcuts for trademark, registered trademark, copyright, n-dash, and m-dash. They are so buried now. We used these hourly. I know you can find them in the glyphs panel. But it worked fine before. I could just keep typing without opening a new panel.

Give a Direction: Forward/Backward option in the Find/Change panel for Color
The Text option for Find/Change has the option to cycle through the results in the opposite direction. This would be VERY helpful to have on the colour option as well, I have no idea why it would be available for text but not colour, it's the same function?

Ability to create a semicircle shape quickly and easily
One feature I would really like to see added to InDesign is the ability to create a semicircle shape quickly and easily. At the moment, I haven't been able to find a straightforward way to make a perfect semicircle without relying on workarounds, manual adjustments, or creating the shape in another application first.
Having a dedicated semicircle tool or shape option would make the design process much more efficient, especially for layouts, infographics, diagrams, logos, and other projects that frequently require partial circular shapes. While InDesign offers a variety of shape tools and path-editing features, creating a precise semicircle can…
