  1. Add space before when first on page

When there is a Title which is set to be first on page, in some cases it is needed to have some space before. For example, chapter title. It is easier to set that through Paragraph Style than to set as a box feature. That feature existed in Xerox Ventura Publisher more than 30 years ago, and exists in Affinity Publisher. It is one smole checkbox in Indent and Spacing, but a big help for us who are in book layout business.

  2. Add ability to define text sections

There could be a panel much like the conditional text panel, which allows you to define and name text ranges/sections, which should be stackable.

Thinking of HTML/XML/EPUB export of content, you are then able to feed the sections into div containers (<div class="sec1"><h1>Blabla</h1><p>blablablablabl</p>...</div>).
Nowadays such containers, which you must have according to the DTD/Schema or Website the content will be published after print publishing, have to be added by hand or with tricky XSLT programming.

  3. Adding interactivity for Windows 10

Interactivity is not yet available for Digital Publishing on Windows 10 OS. Until it does, it would be great if inDesign had a panel where you could write code to create hyperlink and button navigation.

  4. color profile black listing and/or whitelisting in preflight

Not everything that is RGB is bad in today's print publishing. While we certainly don't want to use sRGB images if we can avoid it, there are some good options for color spaces in media-neutral design workflows (e.g. eciRGB, Adobe RGB).
Being warned that certain undesirable color profiles are being used in linked images, and skipping those that are considered okay, should improve any modern desktop publishing workflow.
A "missing/no profile" option should also be included, as these cases completely defeat the purpose of color management workflows.

  5. Comment

It will be good to have InDesign for Web and allow users to comment and collaborate with each other like Figma or Canva. So many back and forth handoffs can be avoided in the publishing world just by enabling these features.

  6. Indesign 2024

    To the developers:

I am in charge of a newspaper in the north of Spain, ALERTA. I am considering whether to switch to the new InDesign 2024 following the information from the presentation meeting your company held. It has taken me time to adapt our catalog to your new policy on Type 1 fonts. Once this issue was resolved, and I was able to look at the new features of the new version, I found that some of the things said in that presentation are either false or not entirely true to reality. That story about the new paragraph styles…

  7. Add Options to remove bleeds and cropmarks while Import PDF comments

Sometimes I get PDF files with corrections to be applied to the next printing addition.
Usually publishers apply such corrections to the production PDF, with format cropmarks .
InDesign can import the PDF without bleeds and crop marks (as you turn on the import options), But.... unfortunately PDF Comments, there is no such option that you can opt out of crop marks and bleeds, etc.

  8. Appearance Panel in Properties window

In the properties window, every-time I open the fill in the appearance panel I have to open any swatch folders, it would be good if it remembered which folders were open so I don't have to open each time. Also, would be handy to have the switch from Text to Frame as icons to the left of that panel, then it's just one selection rather than two.

  9. A locate option when relinking files in InDesign like Adobe Premiere Pro has! This would save so much time finding those lost links.

When re-linking broken links, offer the option to locate the file be clicking a locate button and have it search quickly a folder or specified area on local disk or server share like Premiere Pro does with missing linked assets. This would save countless hours hunting down those lost links that happen to EVERYOne. Please ad this feature for us. Our team has to try to search them down manually as there is no good way to search a server share as Mac OS built in search refuses to search properly most times. Most files don't even show up but…

  10. Overall project file contains different documents

It would be good to have the ability to combine several individual InDesign docs into one project file. So when the project is opened all docs are shown as separate tabs. Quark Express did this with 'Jackets' or something like that. This would tidy up job folders and maybe speed up the 'collect for output' stage if InDesign did them all at once rather than have to do individually with several fonts and images folders

  13. Typesetter Mode: Disable Typing Toggle

I work for a book publisher and typeset hundreds of books a year. It would be nice to have a toggle that would disable the ability to add or remove characters from a text frame. Retain the ability to adjust leading, tracking, and other formatting, but prevent accidentally adding characters to the author's text. I currently map "W" to "esc" using keyboard shortcuts, but it would be a kind of nice feature to have built in.

  14. Add AI-Powered Natural Language Processing (NLP) Engine for InDesign with Full Persian Language Support

InDesign is a powerful tool for multilingual publishing, but it still lacks smart support for right-to-left languages like Persian (Farsi).
We propose integrating an AI-powered Natural Language Processing (NLP) engine—especially with Persian language capabilities—to help automate and enhance the typesetting process.
🔍 Key Features this engine could offer:
Automatic detection and correction of text language (Arabic → Persian).
Intelligent number conversion (Arabic, Persian, or Latin based on text context).
    Auto-insertion of half-spaces (نیم‌فاصله) where appropriate.
Smart paragraph and character styling suggestions based on content type.
    AI-based proofreading and grammar suggestions.
    Content-aware layout and reflow recommendations.
    Summarization and auto-captioning tools.…

  15. Easier way to maneuver through different opened documents

I often work with multiple documents pulled up at once. It is difficult to maneuver through them when they don't all fit on that top banner. I wish I could have certain folders for certain projects.

  16. Workflow issue: Composite fonts increase uncontrollably when switching projects

Category: Text and Type (Composite fonts issue specific to Japanese workflows)

Composite fonts are a feature of the Japanese version of InDesign, widely used in the workflows of Japanese publishers.

Currently, InDesign identifies composite fonts only by their names. When multiple documents containing composite fonts with the same name but different settings are opened at the same time, InDesign forcibly duplicates and renames them (e.g. “FontName 2”, “FontName 3”, …). As a result, the number of composite fonts grows uncontrollably, making font management extremely confusing.

This behavior causes serious workflow problems:

    • It prevents efficient switching between projects.

    • It makes…

  17. CRITICAL: Restore Hebrew Nikud Functionality in InDesign (Latest Versions) Issue:

Issue: The latest Adobe InDesign versions have broken Hebrew nikud (vowel points) rendering, which worked perfectly in older versions. This is preventing designers, publishers, and educators from properly typesetting Hebrew religious texts, children's books, educational materials, and more.

Impact: Thousands of users working with Hebrew content are either:
    Losing productivity and revenue

Request: Please restore full nikud support as it existed in previous versions. This is not a feature request—it's a critical bug fix for a writing system used by millions.

If you work with Hebrew text in InDesign, please vote to prioritize this fix! 🙏

  18. I would like to see a slimmed down version of InDesign much like the photoshop

I would like a slimmed down version of InDesign. I have used the product from pagemaker thru freehand and InDesign CC. But I have a need only once a month. I have had to deal with people using MS publisher and that is the only other layout version by a major Software supplier and it is less than a satisfactory product. I am a computer consultant and seasoned product marketing manager and the need seems to be there. I would be glad to test such a product as I have had many years doing alpha/beta software. Please consider this…

  19. drag and drop .indd file into book panel

Whenever I add the .indd document to the book panel, I need to add each file via finder. At this time, if the target files are located in several different folders, I have to do several iterations. drag and drop features will reduce this repetitive work.

  20. I would love to be able to create several different "share for review" files for one document

I have a file that is being proofread by three different teams; graphics, copy, and general flow. I want to be able to share a review file with each team, but do not want them all to be reviewing the same review file.

I made a work-around by saving 2 copies of the InDesign file and creating a separate review files for them, but then I have to keep the original .indd file open and attend to the edits from the other two review files using the published web review files and then transcribing them to the original .indd…
