2. Swatch Grouping

   The Color Group function is really useful, but it only works in the creation phase if you select multiple colours. There's no obvious way to add a colour to a group after it's been created - there's no contextual menu option, there's no palette menu option, and seemingly, you can't drag and drop it into the folder, which is counterintuitive as this is something users do all the time with Layers. Similarly, color groups should function the same way inside the CC Libraries palette. There should be a shortcut to add any selected Swatch or Color Group to the current Library, with a warning if duplicates already exist (based on color value, not name); with option to keep separate swatches or replace with new one.

3. Can we PLEASE have a better way to manage saved search queries?

   I'm a very heavy user of InDesign's ability to save specific search-and-replace queries, especially for GREP. But every single time you folks do a major update to InDesign, my custom saved search-and-replace queries (GREP, Text, Glyph, Object) go away. I've taken to backing up the .xml files with my backup software and manually restoring them after each program update, but something has changed in the last version, and simply restoring them to the applicable folders no longer restores them to the program Find dialog listing. I've got more than thirty mission-critical GREP queries alone. Re-writing them from scratch each major update is NOT acceptable!

   The system for saving and managing custom queries has been broken from the beginning - "Save" names only appear on the listing if they were saved in the current version, so if I want to overwrite an old one, I have to re-type the name EXACTLY. As above, if there's an update, saved queries are NOT among the settings that are carried over to the new version.

6. Support for .oam files in interactive pdf‘s

   Wouldn’t it be great if you could publish an interactive Pdf and have the ability to see some basic animation to help tell your desired story? I’m not talking about an ePub here, or an outdated flash file. I’m suggesting that a widely accepted format across multiple platforms, the Pdf, should have the capability to play an lightweight animation / .oam / .gif rather than only be able to have a huge .mp4, with massive compression!

   Surely by now we could have some nice .svg animation. Is html5 able to be implemented into in design? There must be a relatively easy solution to this.

   Does any one have any ideas how this could work?

   Adobe, what can we do to help you make this a reality?

7. Bookmarking files on home screen

   I'm often working on 10+ projects and probably 20+ files in Indesign at a time. Whenever I restart the computer or switch between projects, it takes time to navigate to the folder where I've saved the project and look at various collateral involved with the project as well as open the Indesign file.
   It would be great to have another section on the home screen under the Recent files to have Bookmark files. The logical place to put the bookmark function would be in the Files menu when you have the file open, but you can also put a shortcut in right clicking the document tab and putting bookmark there or having a little toggle star icon on the document tab itself.
   And it would be amazing if both the home screen bookmark section and home screen recent files section have the option to right click on the thumbnail and open in Explorer or Bridge so I can find my folders quickly without searching for them in Explorer.

8. Add Clarivate Endnote for Indesign - Dynamic - work straight from indesign itself

   No need to tell Adobe that MS Word is NOT the way to layout text and graphics, but academia is stuck using MS Word because Adobe does not have support for Endnote software. Indesign endnote features can't compete with the specific capability of the Endnote software. (Search loads of online resources for your references.
   Access to full text research articles.
   Access your research from the cloud.
   Automatic and bulk reference updating..
   Search, read & review PDFs in your library.)
   PLEASE CONSIDER ADDING. Do not want it for incopy, or to import from Word, but to layout DIRECTLY in Indesign when creating papers/writing grants, theses for graduate students, etc. This is a HUGE need. Please consider.

    InDesign has become a powerful DTP-application but one feature is missing. Please add support for real database publshing (catalogs etc.). This feature would make thrid-party plugins like inCatalog or inData obsolet..

11. Flag Adobe fonts in document as "Mandatory: Use TypeKit"

    We have multiple versions of fonts available in our environment (Type1, TT, and access to TypeKit) so having the ability to indicate specific fonts as "Mandatory use from Adobe Fonts/Typekit" would be helpful. In essence, the user wouldn't have to manually activate/deactivate to achieve the correct combination of fonts.
    For example, the user may have Proxima Nova family Type 1 active, but the document correctly shows the TypeKit fonts as missing. They then activate their TT family, which also fails. They tend to not think of Typekit as it's not searchable in our font management tool.
    Using the Document Fonts folder can help in this arena, but it won't help with AdobeFonts/Typekit fonts, and other issues creep in.
    Font mangers, like Extensis Suitcase and FontAgent, don't seem to consistently recognize the availability of an Adobe Font/TypeKit font.

12. Export Package needed this badly

    When i package my files, i only get to package fonts that were installed in my com however, if i were to use any adobe font, zero trail in package document font folder. This will cost people time telling the printer or marketing side, hey its adobe font that's why its not in the package file. Or worst whoever take over the project on a new com, have to wait till they open up the file, and indesign or illustrator says hey your font missing. Blah blah blah.

    Solution: What if you guys create a file that have adobe font used, and when clicked, it'll link user to the specific adobe font page. The icon though have to look different.

    Conclusion: Save user time and don't need to explain hey we use adobe font. Also its more efficient?

14. Multiple caption metadata items on one line

    At the moment it appears I can create captions with more than one piece of metadata, such as copywright year and artist or Folder 0 and name. But each of these must be on its own line. There is no way to have all the data one one line unless I generate a static caption then use Find/Change.

    We should be able to make captions with multiple metadata tags inline without requiring a linebreak.

15. Dropbox missing links error

    If links are not available (because they are only online in the dropbox), please provide 1 error message. And not a window that must be clicked for each individual image.

    If you have to search older (archive) Indesign files (with hundreds of links), you will be endlessly bombarded with: "Error encountered while reading TIFF image. Image may be damaged or incompatible..."

18. Table numbering for multipage tables

    Need to repeat table numbering on every page of very long tables.

    The publisher requires this type of table layout. The last page of the table should begin with the line "End of Table 1.1", all pages, starting from the second and up to the penultimate page should begin with the line "Continuation of Table 1.1". Now we have to do this by inserting an additional text frame on each page with a long table or an additional master page, but in the case of moving tables, we have to spend a lot of extra time

19. Collaborating on translating

    Hi everyone! First I have to say I love all the new features that are slowly being integrated into InDesign. But in all my honesty I really miss one..

    We now can enjoy Share for review which I really love on getting comments from my clients. But what I would love to have is a online tool where my colleagues can enter translation for the file I worked on. Now I export files to pdf and make them in to a word file but that workflow takes a lot of time.

    I know tools like redokun.com but they are expensive and have limited page restriction for the smaller account.
    So like an online tool like share for review would be great for my colleagues that don't now how to use InDesign...

20. Make it possible to simply drag an image from Apple Photos into InDesign

    Right now there's many steps required to add an image from Apple Photos to InDesign. You have to download all your images to a folder. Then you have to open the file directory from within the app and search for the image. If you're working with hundreds of images this process is very time consuming and is a real bottleneck.

    What if you could just simply drag and drop? Please make this process easier and more intuitive.
