  1. Text Frame Auto-Size in story mode (linked frames)

    Dear Indesign Development Team,

    Please fix the Auto-Size Text Frame feature in InDesign. When running a story through multiple text frames the Auto-Size feature does not work. The feature should recognize the Frame Break or Column Break symbol as the end of the text in a frame and Auto-Size the frame accordingly. Please! I am tired of hacking my way through features to get the result I want while I feel it should be real simple.

  2. If short form for the unit Points is "pkt" in could "pt" be accepted as alias instead of giving error message?

    In Swedish version of InDesign (and other Adobe Apps) to enter a unit in points we must type "pkt" where I believe most languages accept "pt". It would be a better experience for the user if the software would accept either "pt" or "pkt", especially if teaching a class where there are users with different language versions following the same instructions. There is no point in receiving an error that an invalid unit has been entered if the intent is clear, and unambiguous.

  3. Allow each section or master page spread to have a custom baseline grid

    I work on many books that have different sections, with different content. While I try to make sure everything fits and follows the same baseline grid, often that's just not the best solution. I end up using custom baseline grid options on text frames, but that also doesn't solve everything.
    It would be very useful to set a baseline grid that applies to a specific master page, or to a whole section.

  4. Please make it possible that whenever you create a QR code it automatically makes it into a hyperlink as well.

    This could be done by maybe ticking off a box when creating a QR code to optionally create a hyperlink. I know QR codes are prodominently made to scan with a phone but if you wish to publish the same publication online it would be nice if you could also click on the qr code, making it easier for the reader. It would make it easier because now I have to make a QR code while also applying the same hyperlink on it thus taking me more time and increasing the possibility of an error.

  5. Include InCopy editorial notes in grouped/anchored objects in PDF comments

    Currently if you add a note to an anchored or grouped object these do not appear as comments in exported PDFs from InCopy. This leads to artworkers possibly missing important change requests from InCopy users. I'm not sure if this is a bug or a technical limitation but it is not stated anywhere in the documentation for InCopy. User expectation is that all notes will be included as comments in exported PDFs.

  8. Calculated cells

    It would be interesting to make it possibile to calculate some values inserted into a table, like Excel does.
    We can't create calculate fields in existing tables with data inserted into.
    This would be very useful when we have some price list in a cloumn, the user puts a quantyty order in a row and then to have the final price (multiplication) in another row.

  9. Add an "Align to Bleed" in the Align panel/options or Snap to Bleed in View.

    The align pallet is invaluable to me as I design catalogs with lots of pages with bleed that switch from left to right regularly during the process, with different backgrounds too. However, when aligning to bleed, I have to manually line up the backgrounds with the bleed line, and its a minor inconvenience not to mention leaves room for human error. Would love to be able to quickly align my backgrounds to right or left outside bleeds, and also snap my backgrounds to the bleed line to make sure it is 100 percent lined up.   10. Proper Full Screen Support for MacOS

    It really would be helpful if the Adobe CC apps (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop et al) all did as Acrobat Pro DC does and properly implemented the MacOS full screen/split screen option.

    This would allow people who use multiple and large monitors to properly designate workspace and split screens between two apps without toolbars/panels getting hidden by other apps.

  11. You really, really need to have indexing across documents/chapters in books!!!!

    a necessity, not an idea. To quote another user:
    Wow, Book Function has no index? Are you serious? Every serious non-fiction book must have a full index at the end. Why even use the Book Function, if the index doesn’t appear at the end of the whole book?

  12. Data merge and type formatiing

    We data merge price tickets for retail from excel into InDesign. It would save so much formatting time if you could change the data merge fields 'case'.
    For example: could I change a data merge field to Sentence case, or Title Case etc? I know the feature ALL CAPS works but that's it?

  13. SELECT + RELINK of Single Image File in MULTIPLE INSTANCES based on a DEFINED SELECTION of Multiple Links in LINK PANEL!

    You can Relink an Image File in the LINKS PANEL in

    (A) ALL INSTANCES
    (B) 1 (ONE) INSTANCE

    But not MULTIPLE INSTANCES based on a DEFINED SELECTION of Multiple Links. To do so presently requires the NEEDLESS REPETITION of Re-Linking for each instance at great time and expense!

    I am sure this is an IMPORTANT NEED for many users workflows.

    Please add this feature ASAP!!! Urgent need for us and I am quite sure many many others!

  14. Show cross-reference destination document in the cross-ref panel

    I work with a lot of guides and need to use a lot of cross-references in my files. When these files later get used as a base for new files and saved under different names, or content is copy-pasted from one file to another, the cross-references point to the old (wrong) destination. I know you can select a cross-ref and change its destination document from the palette menu, but first you need to know that there is such wrong reference, but it is difficult when the cross-reference colour indicator is green and you think everything is fine.   15. Complete integration of InDesign Form and Acrobat Form

    Scenario: The client needs content changes after approving design/form process -- that means I scrap all of my acrobat calculations in the form fields to make the changes in InDesign.

    It would be great(!) if InDesign supported either a "round-trip" editing process or has all of the features of Acrobat forms. I really don't care to edit in Acrobat, because InDesign is far superior for layout of complicated forms, with more editing tools, master pages, layers, etc.

  16. I need a way to relink images across all open documents.

    When I go to relink an image that is now in a different folder, and that image is inside of 7 different files, I'd like to be able to tell one file where the image is, and the other ones can also use that same image, with some kind of toggle to disable that if for some reason I didn't want all the images to use it.

  17. Print/Export booklet to directly PDF on MAC

    I'd like save my document as a PDF booklet on my Mac. I've gone to file > print booklet and I only have to ability to print it as a postscript fiel or directly to my physical printer. I'd like to be able to print/export a booklet directly to PDF.

  18. Add support for language based typographic rules

    Each language has its own set of traditional rules related to hyphens, dashes, quotation marks, punctuation, hyphenation, spaces etc. Most of the rules are pretty simple and it is very easy to apply them using a list of search-replace sequences.

    To significantly improve the quality of typesetting, Adobe should provide users a tool to clean up texts (remove additional spaces for instance) and create output matching the style guides and orthographic rules.

    The rules should be defined for each language and/or region. There are different quotation marks in German used in Germany or in Switzerland; in French used in France…

  19. View multiple CC Libraries at the same time in InDesign

    It would be very helpful to be able to view more than 1 CC Library panel at a time within the InDesign workspace. For instance, my company has a library for our brand elements (colors, fonts, logos, etc) and then multiple other libraries for various uses. I'd like to be able to have at least 2 open simultaneously rather than switching back and forth.

  20. Change Form Fields Default Font

    The ability to choose the default font for form fields would be extremely useful. Currently, we have to modify each form field to replace the default 'Minion Pro'. This is exceedingly repetitive and time consuming.
