Create merged pdf from layers of one file
Have a file with multiple languages with each language on a separate layer that must be combined into one pdf file. Would like to be able to export once and have all pdfs completed from InDesign.
One document contains 26 different languages that must be exported.

Windows within Pages Panel
When working on a long document, you may need to refer back to an earlier page for information or formatting consistency. An easy way to do this would be to allow for the Pages Panel to be subdivided into windows or views of the overall docuement. That way when you are at page 120 and need to look at 80, you could simply get 80 in one window and 120 and its adjacent pages in the other. You would then be able to toggle back and forth without having to scroll all the way up and down through the whole…

Notes in Pages Panel
When working on a large document like a book (particularly if you are designing the book while you are producing it), you are constantly revising parts of the page, then going back to refine it as the design evolves. It would be great if you could mark up the Pages Panel with notes (like PDF markups) in the pasteboard like space around the spread icons. This would allow you to leave yourself or others on a team critical information about what is a placeholder and what should be reconsidered.

Improve compatibility with input methods that use Apple's standard approach (InputMethodKit)
There are four problems we have identified in InDesign that negatively affect its compatibility with input methods that follow Apple's standard approach using InputMethodKit. These compatibility problems are described in detail here: https://github.com/keymanapp/keyman/issues/782.
This is of particular concern to SIL because we have developed [Keyman](keyman.com), a very popular and widely used input method that supports custom keyboards in hundreds of languages, including many major languages whose complex scripts are best served by the powerful options in Keyman as well as minority languages whose only viable option for text input might be Keyman.
We have prepared a small sample app…

Make Add to CC Library a preference that must be selected
I don't want to use CC Libraries. That's my preference. I understand it could be helpful to some people, but right now I don't want to use this. Yet I keep having to open three different windows to deselect it and every time Indesign crashes (several times a week lately) I have to go through the task again.
Why can't we make it a global preference? Click you save to CC Libraries, unclick to not save.

Multi-relinking with one click
In large projects like catalogues in different languages on own layers, I often have to relink a lot of identical signets (eps) with the appropriate ones in another language on another layer. Sadly it seems to be impossible to do that with one single click. I have to relink every single file separately. The command "Relink all instances …" only works at link folders but not on a group of selected links filtered with the layers in the links panel column. It would be great to relink only a selection of links of the same image with only one click.

Stop resetting the Apps after every update
Every time you update InDesign the Workspace is reset. This is exhausting! I understanding you want to parade any new features, but why does this update have to make me start again with the UI? It's infuriating and only done as a piece of Marketing for Adobe.
Look we love you all OK? You don't need to keep flirting with us, just leave my settings the way they were – you know you can.

Convert hidden hyperlink destinations to endnotes?
I want to create, from an InDesign file, a list of the hyperlink destinations, and at the same time create footnote callouts in the text after each word that is formatted as a hyperlink. I want to format the normally invisible hyperlink destinations as endnotes. Possible?

4K screens
Stop redimensioning the user interface, please. I've got a 15,6" 3840x2160 screen, everything is so little. Last update proportions were good.

Need a Tab with GREP/Style Change setting instead of just decimal
SHORT DESCRIPTION: A new type of tab which will accept multiple align characters in a GREP-like statement and/or align on a style change.
The video provides a longer description. In tables involving figures and footnotes, a decimal tab is often not enough. What if the footnote is a number, or the footnote is surrounded by parenthesis? These are things which our clients specify for tables in the financial reporting industry, but apply to other industries as well.
If we could specify multiple characters to align upon, in a GREP-like "or" statement, that would help. Or the ability to align on…

InDesign Books Improvements
The Book Panel is still bare bones.
I want all the fly-out menu options for a book to be available with a secondary click/contextual menu.
I want label colors in the Book panel to mark the status of various documents/chapters.

Option to open or otherwise import/place Microsoft Publisher files directly.
As a commercial printer, we often receive customer created work in Publisher files. Working with these documents in InDesign would be a huge timesaver.

Add an import options dialogue for importing InCopy documents into InDesign
Just like when importing Word documents, you can select what stylesheets and attributes to bring into the InDesign or InCopy document, add the same options dialogue window when importing InCopy documents into InDesign. Oftentimes the writer of the InCopy story doesn't use the same stylesheets as the InDesign document. In my case, I build newspapers and we are constantly improving the design and simplifying the naming process for stylesheets. The reporters forget to use the template and therefore old styles or misnamed styles get brought into the document. There are ways around this of course, but when I need to…

Workspace – Why can't Workspace preferences be applied to all devices?
I currently use three (sometimes 4) Apple Macs in various locations around the country as I move from office to office. I understand the constraints re logging computers in and out of my account (no problem there), but why can't my Workspace preferences be shared amongst the computers? After all Adobe know who I am, they know what computer I'm using, they've loaded my CC libraries, surely applying my Workspace preferences to all of my devices by default, can't be that difficult?

Workspace – I have to re-create my workspace every time IND updates. Why?
Why can't IND remember the Workspace settings? Why do I have to go into preferences and move the windows around to the way they were before the update. This must be fairly straight-forward to implement, surely.

select similar
It would be helpful to have a select similar feature for lines and other drawn objects like in illustrator because sometimes I need to change a bunch of things to a different line weight and currently must manually find and change them. I always miss it when I'm working in Indesign instead of Illustrator.

A Home Page for Publish Online Documents
Allow us to assign uploaded documents to a home page that would display several at once. And allow us to give it a human-readable address. That'd make linking to these documents easier.

Document Open Window/pane.
Document Open pane. The break up of recent, earlier and older documents is confusing. I'd prefer it to alphabetical order.

Lock text passages e.g. legal texts
We have a lot of texts for legal reasons in our sales brochure. Like somewhere in between. Now we have a workaround to put these texts at the end of a page at the same spot in every brochure but while editing it often happens that e.g. by accident parts of the texts get erased.
It would be so helpful to lock important parts of the text but keep them in the whole text "fluently" at the same time. It doesnt matter where the text is but it has to be there.
I hope I described my request clearly enough...…4 votes -
Fix dictionary translating from US to UK (and vice versa) in macOS High Sierra
Dictionary not working correctly after upgrading to macOS High Sierra. I translate many documents from US to UK spelling (and the reverse). The dictionary used to work perfectly, but since moving to High Sierra neither dictionary recognises incorrect spellings from the wrong continent. It thinks all the spellings are correct. I've checked all paragraph styles, basic paragraph styles and preferences to no avail, so deleted my preferences but this feature no longer works.
