1. links that open in different tabs from pdf

   I want to export a e-book in pdf to be read in a comum browser. So, a link that open in other browser (not in the same browser that ebook is open). Please, I need so much to do this on Indesign, it is my dream!

2. Exporting ePub options - more needed and open direct to selected readers...

   When exporting an ePUB, give the option to export as "iBooks friendly" or "ADE friendly" or "Google Play friendly" and automatically preview the epub in the chosen app. The reason this is needed is because, currently the enhanced epubs that you can export from InDesign work through iBooks but literally NOWHERE else. Google Play throws back errors that don't make sense and do not support some of the features that InDesign exports, such as javascript. And ADE does not have consistency across the android version and the Windows version and is riddled with bugs. The windows version doesn't read fonts, the android version doesn't read some of the images or corrupts some of them.

   There should also be an option in the publish online feature to password protect or limit the use of your file, so that I can privately share a file via this feature and limit the amount of times it is downloaded by the other party and protect the file from being distributed by that party without my permission.

3. Add image name under "Place" Image thumbnail

   When working with numerous photos that are often very similar can we add a few more characters to identify the photo? This would be the first few characters of the actual image being placed. I know it states the number of the photos to insert but is there a way to capture those first few characters? This would be useful when selecting numerous photos that have specific image boxes that they need to go into.

4. Visual change history in layout mode

   I'm surprised why this has not been already implemented, but surely changes by multiple users (contributors) should be visible in Layout mode too. Also, a cross-checking feature between project versions should be considered. I am aware there are a number of plug-ins available, however they are not robust and surely such a low-level feature should be implemented into the main software. Most third-party office software have such features as standard.

5. [ID-4209545]macOS Dark Mode is not supported in InDesign

   Load/Save dialogues and title bar don't honour 'dark mode' in the latest Mac OS

7. export location

   Please please include a tick box in the preferences that allows exporting to the same location as the indesign file you're exporting. I work in a busy studio and I'm constantly having to re-route where I'm exporting my files it's SO frustrating!

8. Give icons in the Corner Options dialogue their proper orientation

   Instead of using the same orientation for each corner option icon in the Corner Options dialogue, give each corner an icon with the proper orientation. See After.png.

9. Relative Link Paths for InDesign

   At this company we work in teams on many project simultaneously along with a massive server of shared assets. Talking to my colleagues in other companies this is quite a common thing these days. We mostly work off of InDesign for the majority of our projects. As InDesign uses linked files for composition/layout, we keep our server organized. All IDD files are worked from directly off of our server, no files are stored on any person's computer locally.

   We don't need to package everything (only rarely, for sharing to external entities) because all of the content already exists on the server.

   The problem we're seeing continually is this: the absolute file path on the server starts off with a person's login to the server, then the file path itself. When someone else opens up the same InDesign file, links are broken because their login to the server is different from the other persons, yet the files have not moved at all.

   Relative file paths would solve this since our file organization does not change.

   Since this type of work environment is happening across major companies that use your app, we believe this isn't an isolated request. It needs to happen ASAP.

   It can be as simple as a setting under general preferences so a person can choose to set up a file with relative or absolute link paths.

10. Script to help extract Black and white masks from color separation to photoshop smart objects for 3d

    to make 3d from my indesign product packaging i use blender or c4d
    and use the script "layer to smart objects" and it's very great script but, when you have complexe printing process applied to the product, it will help to make Black and white masks from colors (cmyk and pantones) separation to help isolate the differents effects in your 3d app

11. Update the QR Code dialog box

    The current QR Code dialog box has options for very basic QR codes, but does not take into account recent improvements and developments for the QR Code syntax. It would be great if the dialog could also include options for calendar events, map coordinates, etc (syntax can be found at https://github.com/zxing/zxing/wiki/Barcode-Contents)

14. Uncheck Shared Hyperlink Destination by default

    In the panel 'New Hyperlink' the box 'Shared Hyperlink Destination' is by default checked. I always (must) uncheck it. Two questions: can I reset these default-settings somewhere. (I think not - but I'll like to do that). There is no possibility to put this check on/off under a shortcut. That should be nice for automation-purpose.

    The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2026(v21.0.0.192). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.

    If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application, click on the context menu on the top right, and click on Check for App Updates.

15. Copy dependent files to Links on save

    Can we please have a checkbox in the Save dialog that enables us to automatically collect all dependent files to the Links folder when saving the file?

    I know there is an option to copy links to a folder but this is a manual process. I think the option I’ve described above will alleviate many issues with people unknowingly leaving links in their Downloads folder etc.

    Comment - Adobe should come out with InDesign Lite - sell it like Photoshop Elements - NOT A SUBSCRIPTION. I don't need or want all the bells and whistles of Indesign - give me Lite! Becoming an issue because of the new Mac update to Catalina won't support earlier Indesign. Moving to open source alternatives.

17. Add a "Pin to Recent" setting for InDesign documents

    I have files that I occasionally use that I'd love to access without drilling down on a remote server to find them every time. Being able to pin (or unpin) a document file to the Open Recent list would be a great convenience. This would prevent it from being pushed off the end of the list.

18. Indesign should Natively already have the capability 2 expensive 3rd party plugins add. EasyCatalog and in5 should not be needed at all.

    EasyCatalog plugin by 65bit vastly improves Indeisgn's terrrible and dated Data automation and catalogue ability. It is expensive and adds features indesign should do much better by now. Same is true for in5 a plug in to add html 5 export ability and makes up for the total abandonment of the DPS options. Lucidpress offers better digital magaizne options and spreadsheet linking at the moment.
