    jidori feature improvement request

The "Jidori" function unique to the Japanese version can only be set to "character count," which is inconvenient in many situations.
Settings other than the number of characters depend on the frame grid settings regardless of the text frame/frame grid. Many users are unaware of this and are not able to use the "Jidori" function well.

  2. Gutter control on spreads for facing-pages layout that require bleed on the inside edges

There are several requests for this that don't use correct terminology, so I'm going to add this one to hopefully consolidate votes on this long overdue feature. When working on facing-page projects that are not bound with glue, it is imperative that graphics and color that goes to the inside edge have bleed into the gutter. There is no gutter bleed support for parent pages in InDesign, requiring us to create two spreads with bleed across the gutter from either side to support pages that need that gutter bleed on export. Then we have to separate the pages in the…

  3. Disable Blue Bar pop-ups

The constant interruption of blue bar "helpful" suggestions, while using InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, is infuriatingly disruptive to the working professional. The fact that I'm here trying to solve an unnecessary issue during my self-employed working hours pretty much sums up the problem - I cannot bill for this time. Please allow us the ability to get rid of the constant advertising and let us get on with the software we once loved - we've got work to do.

  4. epub permissions

When a team member moves on, and their Adobe account cancelled, all live ePubs published under that account are lost, and the links currently out in the world are broken. I would like to see an additional option in the Publish Online Dashboard that allows users to add/transfer permissions to another user or the master account.

  5. Update text box design so that the middle bottom anchor point isn't almost always hidden by "Explore more text options" / "O" icon

The text box needs an update. I can almost never adjust the size of my text boxes from the middle bottom anchorpoint, butcause the "O" icon for "Explore More Text Options" is on top of it or near enough to it that I can't select the anchorpoint. I need to be able to resize text boxes from the bottom middle anchorpoint. Adjusting the size with the bottom right anchorpoint isn't a usually a good option because the width will change slightly.

Fix this issue by moving the O icon away from any anchorpoints outside of the box somewhere.

  6. Stop requiring a resave of documents in new InDesign versions

I would love it if the Adobe team would figure out a way to have new versions of InDeisgn not require a resave of previously created documents. This is probably THE most annoying feature of using this software. It is not user friendly when you have developed a working method on updating documents month to month, only to be prompted to save the file before any other processes can be performed. I can't tell you how many documents I have "Saved" to my desktop when I thought I was exporting them to PDF. Please fix. Annoying!!

  7. Kindly get back the old feature on constraining the proportions for width and height.

Kindly bring back the old feature for constraining the proportions of width and height. It should remain constrained unless I change it. I prefer it that way. BTW, I've been using InDesign since its very first version. Thanks :D

  8. I still want to ask why cell styles for tables, can't include row height settings?

It would lead to disastrous results?

I don't see that it would.
Instead I think that would save a lot of work.

  9. Direct Editing of Photoshop Layers in InDesign

    Description:
Currently, users must switch back to Photoshop to edit layer details, masks, or effects before re-importing images into InDesign. This process can be time-consuming and interrupts the creative flow. It would be highly efficient to enable direct editing of Photoshop layers—such as brush adjustments, opacity, blend modes, and layer masks—within InDesign itself, without needing to reopen Photoshop.

    Benefits for Users:

Streamlines the workflow by reducing the need to switch between Photoshop and InDesign
Speeds up the design process, as minor adjustments could be made directly in InDesign
Allows more flexibility in applying last-minute edits and achieving the desired look…

  10. Place Images Behind Text Without Outlines

    Description:
In Adobe InDesign, there is currently no option to place images behind text without converting the text to outlines or paths. In Photoshop, this is easily achieved using layer masks and clipping masks. It would be highly beneficial to have a similar feature in InDesign, allowing users to place images directly behind text that can still be edited (font, size, and content) without converting it to outlines.

    Benefits for Users:

Increased flexibility and efficiency when working with text and images
Ability to maintain the editability of the text (users can continue to adjust font, size, and wording)
    More intuitive…

  11. Insert Kashida option in Character Style

In Indesing UI there is an option to Insert Kashida width options: "None", "Short", "Medium", "Long" and "Stylistic" but these options are not there in Character style creation window.

Please include this option in Character Style creation window so that it can be easier to apply type of kashida as required by the user.

  12. Useful feature request: Edit with... Photoshop/Illustrator with an Indesign Spread/Page overlay

I would like to see an option to Edit with Photoshop or Illustrator with an Overlay, optionally at an opacity, of rest of the Indesign page/spread elements. This would aid in area retouching/color adjustments where you need to know exactly where the items are on the page in relation to the image/vector.

Often I have to darken areas in an image behind type in Indesign and using a brush is often guess work. I have tried drop shadows and glows in the past with mixed results but usually to get specific letters to show over an image I have to…

  13. Option to Set Default Save Location for AI-Generated Content to Project Folder in InDesign

Thank you for introducing the new AI-powered image generation feature in InDesign.
I would like to suggest an improvement to the way AI-generated content is stored. Currently, these assets are saved by default to the local user folder, which can become problematic when multiple team members need to collaborate on a project. Since the assets are not stored within the shared project folder, this can lead to missing files or confusion when the document is opened by someone else.

It would be highly beneficial to have an option that allows users to set the default save location for AI-generated content…

  16. Default Sync of All Settings Across CC Applications

Could you please enable the option to save all presets, windows, keyboard shortcuts, and all personalized settings, including Photoshop actions, brushes, and similar configurations, under the CC account? Ideally, this should be the default setting, so that after every installation, all settings for all applications, including color profiles and similar configurations, are fully copied. It's unbelievable that this hasn’t been working this way for a long time.

It would also be great if there was an option to export settings or share them across different accounts.

  17. Change Asset Characteristics (Color, Style, Color Space) in Adobe Libraries

    The Problem:
When building out an icon system in Adobe Libraries, you need to save a separate icon for each color variation, style variation (we have a filled style, line style, and multi-color style), and color space (digital vs. print). For our organization, there are 3 styles, 3 color variations for each, and 2 color spaces, meaning you need 18 different versions of a single icon. For large icon libraries, this results in a massive library and poor performance (icons with too many assets start to slow down and cause crashes).

    My Idea for a Solution:
    Allow users to create…

  18. Stop turning all your products into Canva

The pop ups and changes to the UI are unnecessary and disruptive to decades of established workflow. Stop treating your established customer base like they're idiots and not design professionals. If wanted to use Canva I would.

  19. Footnote references in header rows of tables should not be repeated

It is desirable that text in table headers is repeated in the second and subsequent text frames.
But it is not good that footnote references are also repeated in headers. This is because the footnote for the corresponding references is to be found on the page where the reference is first mentioned, but not on the following pages of the table, which breaks across pages.

  20. measure and determine the height of a letter in millimeters or centimeters

Add a feature to InDesign that will allow you to measure and determine the height of a letter in millimeters or centimeters. I work in a studio that deals with environmental design and signage, and we constantly need to know the height of the characters in millimeters during work.
Today, the solution to the problem is to create a rectangle the same size as the size of the characters and see the size of the rectangle in millimeters, then adjust the size of the characters according to the rectangle, until it roughly fits. This is a really big problem and…
