  2. Editable hyperlinks in imported .icml files

Please let us edit hyperlinks in an imported .icml. We can edit paragraph/character styles as we wish since they are not counted as content. But the same applies for hyperlinks, or at least anchor text/pages hyperlinks.

As of now whenever you import an .icml with an anchor text hyperlink the destination disappears.
Incopy is useful also for people that update multiple documents where only small parts of text differ while the rest is the same, but must be update anyway so you end up only editing one of the very long files instead of 15 and you're sure that you…

  3. Remove unnecessary banner in CC Libraries panel

Every time, after any new start of InDesign (14.0.3 and in previous versions too, on mac), an useless info banner is showing when opening CC Libraries panel. Only once at session, but every day again and again. Please, REMOVE THIS...

  4. Locate where a specific colour is used in your document

It would be really useful to be able to find exactly where a colour is used in a document. When you get a document from a third party and there are extra colours in it that you are trying to eliminate it is sometimes very difficult to track them down.

You can convert the colour to a spot colour then turn on separations and do a visual check but, apart from being time consuming and relying on it being large enough to be easily spotted, it won't help if the colour has been defined as part of a style.

The ability to find colors in documents in now available in InDesign’s latest release 16.0.

It can be found in a new tab of Find/Change dialog – Color.
Please let us know your feedback in comments.

  6. "Edit all export tags" panel: Checkbox to exclude classes in html

When editing an individual paragraph, character or object style, there is a very useful option to turn off the "include classes".

However, in the "Edit all export tags" panel, the option to turn off the "include classes" is absent. The "Edit all export tags" panel is already quite nice, this would be a very useful addition and save time otherwise spent opening and editing styles individually.

I am trying to move away from sending our journal articles to a vendor for conversion and towards exporting html directly from our journal articles with minimal cleanup. This would help me generate cleaner…

  7. Find and Replace by pagenumber/sequence

I'd like to see a Find and Replace by pagenumber/sequence, so you can choose on which pages you can find/replace. Just like exporting pages to pdf.

  8. Find/Change Panel -> Dockable ?

I'm struggling with screen estate here (laptop, no other screen) and was wondering about the Find/Change window.

It's floating on top of everything, like a modal window, but you still can interact with everything underneath.

So it is basically acting like a panel.

What I am missing here is an icon + the option to dock it and hide and show when needed.

It is quite a large panel so it very often hides things (results, context) under it.

    What about 3 things :
    1. "make it a (real) panel", don't change design quick and dirty, but already solves the…

  9. The ability to unlink footnote/endnotes from references, thus turning the footnote/endnotes into static notes.

As a designer who typesets thousands of pages of academic research annually, the ability to convert footnotes to endnotes and vice versa is a helpful addition (thanks InDesign team), but more features are needed:

The ability to unlink footnote/endnotes from references, thus turning the footnote/endnotes into static notes.

Currently this process is accomplished only via the benevolence and magic of Peter Kahrel's script, available here: http://www.kahrel.plus.com/indesign/end_to_static_CC2018.jsx

The reason being, I can no longer use the InDesign XML tagging feature while the footnote/endnotes remain linked—for some reason, XML tagging of footnote/endnote text is not supported!

    If you'll indulge me, here's a…

  10. Libraries - I should be able to rearrange swatches

I just got off a long chat with support only to learn that there is no way to rearrange the swatches in my library. The tech support professional told me I can use/select the colors in my document then rearrange them in the swatches panel. This is worthless. I have a long document with about 50 colors which are arbitrarily arranged in the library panel. If I cannot quickly access them alphabetically, then I am wasting a lot of time. PLEASE make it possible to arrange them in the library.

  11. Easily Swap Color Themes

I often utilize the same template layouts across multiple brands and it would be a huge time-saver to be able to assign swatches from a color theme to the various objects, and have all the respective objects update when a new color theme is selected. So if I have Color 1, Color 2, Color 3, and then select a new color theme, the design could be updated as Color 1 -> Color 4, Color 2 -> Color 5, and so on.

  12. Pressure Sensitive Brush Pen (Vector brush to use with pressure sensitive pens)

Many professional artists use some sort of pressure sensitive pen like Wacom (Cintiq) or the much cheaper and equally good HUION tablets).

InDesign has a vector pen tool, with which professionals can write, scribble, design and create personalised unique graphic images, with a freedom that no other text/font ever can proviude. But this vector pen tool does NOT support pressure sensitivity.

Enabling pressure sensitivity (think of it as a simplified Brush Pen tool of illustrator) will allos professionals to directly in our most beloved favorite design program!

  13. Import PDF comments via INDB File

It looks like Import PDF comments only works for individual document files. We use compiled book files for our authors at AuthorSupport.com. Will this be a feature that eventual can be imported via the book panel and applied to the compiled documents?

  15. Make No Break Text visible

It would be quite useful if No Break text was visible; for example, as a shaded background – see my mockup image.

Currently, No Break is visible only as a text override (and then it gets lumped in with all other overrides, so you still have to click each override to see where it got applied).

  16. Still need MORE design options Forms via InDesign

This is still a current problem, it has been posted before but CLEARLY many people still have this frustrating problem that InDesign cannot preform the ENTIRE task of design and execution of an interactive form without the use of Acrobat. Specifically text colour and alignment/positioning in field.

  18. I want to let viewers scroll through an Indesign multipage file on my Pf site, using the "Publish Online" feature in InDesign

I want to let viewers scroll through an Indesign multipage file as one item in my portfolio grid in my Pf site. Perhaps InDesign and Portfolio can integrate a new feature using the "Publish Online" feature in InDesign to accomplish this in Pf!

  19. Background Tasks button for progress bar while saving

To duplicate. Export large document to Print PDF, attempt to save while exporting, but background task prevents saving, ok, but only available option is cancel.
Change would be to add another button to the dialog box to bring up the Background Task progress bar.
Or an OK button to just return to unsaved document, but panel could then be opened to follow progress.
Or leave dialog open and allow access to the small animated progress indicator in the top bar to open full background task panel.
Or allow access to the panel/tab from the sidebar.

    thank you

  20. It would be very helpful if, when re-linking missing links, the WHOLE of the filepath appeared along the top of the window.

It would be very helpful if, when re-linking missing links, the WHOLE of the filepath appeared along the top of the window. At present I only see the start and end of the path, which often isn't enough to identify it.
