The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2022(v17.0.0.96). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.

If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application and click on the context menu on the top right and click on Check for App Updates.

Appears to be related to the Control Bar (Ctrl-Alt-6) having the Character / Character Fonts selected in the Customize Control Panel option set (which is on be default, of course). If you deselect that then using the (T) keyboard shortcut doesn't switch back to the Selection Tool (V) when you click with it - it operates as you'd expect.

Interestingly the same field being operable in the Properties panel doesn't produce the same problem, just on the traditional Control panel.

    Type Tool still deselects itself

As per - https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/35753107-type-tool-deselects-itself - which is incorrectly marked as "Fixed".

Bas - what's your internet connection like? I haven't tried the new build out at home yet - just at work where we've got this fat pipe. I'm wondering - given that it seems to be to do with loading the fonts.adobe.com fonts (or authenticating before loading them maybe - I can't imagine they're actually pulling down the font files every time InDesign loads) - whether it's bandwidth determined...

14.0.1.209 looks like it fixes the bug for me (Windows 10 x64 1803, i7-6700 32GB RAM GTX 1060, 250mbit/s dedicated line).

Typing's not super responsive/smooth (way worse than this web input field, for instance) - as there's a bit lag there which will make it less than a delight for the editorial staff to write straight into InDesign, but it's manageable.

Same issue - seems to be affected by the speed of your internet connection. At home, it's pushing a minute on a 80mb/s down/20mb/s up; at work it's more like 20s on a 250mb/s dedicated line. Tested on 20 different machines, mostly on Mojave or Windows 10.

I've been getting the same thing with panel menus... Align, Paragraph, Paragraph Styles have all fallen prey to it recently. Clicking through the sizing arrows eventually refreshes it but nothing else (eg. resetting the workspace) works.

GPU Acceleration on Windows is available with the latest InDesign 2025(v20.4.0.052). Please update to the latest InDesign via the CCD app to get this feature.

The minimum system requirements for using GPU Acceleration on

    1. Windows are: Monitor with a display resolution greater than 2K
    2. GPU card with at least 1GB vRAM.

Note on GPU Acceleration: High-resolution monitors are becoming the standard. With the high monitor resolutions, it is getting difficult for the CPU to handle the rendering. This is where the GPU comes into play. Rendering on high-density displays is best handled by the GPU. GPU acceleration makes the rendering of the documents faster while zooming, scrolling, and panning. The enhanced performance from using the GPU in InDesign powers features like Animated Zoom, which make zoom actions smooth and animated.

Based on our internal tests, we found that GPU acceleration provides better performance when the monitor's display resolution is…

Need More Info  ·  amaarora responded

    Hi,
Can you please mail me a sample document to reproduce the issue? I am unable to reproduce the bug.
Is the issue only specific to 13.0? What is the reference point for the autosize?
