Hello All,
Thank you for reporting the issue and allowing us some time to complete our investigation into the issue.
As the part of our investigation, we had reached out to many of you personally over email and we could come up with the below mentioned findings.1. For many of the users the issue got fixed after updating InDesign to a newer version.

3. We also found few cases where the performance issue was identified to be related to span columns, cross-references, third party plugin etc. Please note that we have created separate threads for these issues and we are now working towards resolving them.
However, over the time this thread has become too generic to serve its purpose effectively. As per your feedback and the outcome of our investigation we have created…

Seems to be fixed. Not only for CC 2018 but also 2017 and even CS 6 :-) So I suppose it's a fix in Adobe Creative Cloud App. But I'm happy

Why no bug review from Adobe staff as of yet?

When having Indesign active, go to "File" > "Open". Then, type in the search field (right - top) (a part of) the name of the Indesign file you're sure it exists on your mac. Result: nothing found.
Then, go again to "File" > "Open", then FIRST choose "All documents" below the results window. Then, type in the search field (right - top) (a part of) the name of the Indesign file you're sure it exists on your mac. Result: All the files with the search word (in my case "vier") appear.

Opening Indesign: beachball and a 2-minute wait, 'preparing panels...' . Double clicking a text frame to select text: takes two seconds to activate the text tool Then, when text is selected, select another word: beachball. Switching from another app to Indesign: takes a couple seconds or more: beachball. Beachballs beachballs and stalls ... are you preparing to ditch Indesign also???
I'm on a Mac with latest version of everything and a 2015 iMac i7 with plenty of RAM and only a few inactive apps running. Deleted all Indesign stuff including preference folders and -files in libraries. Then completely reinstalled Indesin 2018. No plugins installed. All to no avail.
And what about commenting on these concerns by adobe staff? Where are you guys??
