1. When Application Frame is Turned Off, News Windows Size Behind GUI/Tools

   I'm one of the many users that doesn't like the Application Frame in either Illustrator or InDesign because I usually like to drag&drop things or switch between applications on my Mac as I work creatively.

   I hate that when a new window is generated (opening a file or creating a new one) it is sized beyond the size of my laptop screen and always BEHIND my docked tools in both Illustrator and InDesign software. Photoshop has the sense not to do this so whats going on with these other tools???

   I have to drag the new window over just to get to a corner and scale it back down to match my work environment every single time. Really frustrating and it seems like such an easy fix. Please, please let's do a little QA for UX and UI on these 2 important tools. I would truly appreciate that and so would a large number of your other user-base, I'm sure.

   1. ID, Version 20.4.1.
   2. Steps: Layout ID document with images. Add Alt Text to images under IPTC Core/Alt Text (Accessibility) in Bridge. Place images in ID. Check for Alt Text under Object/Object Export Options/Alt Text. Alt Text is there under From XCP: Alt Text (Accessibility). Export document to reflowable ePub.
   3. Expected result: Check html. Alt Text appears in the alt tags (alt="").
   4. Actual result: alt tags are empty.

7. InDesign 20.4 Windows 11 Bug. UXP Plugin Panel and Dialog have incorrect behavior of html SELECT tag

   InDesign 20.4 Windows 11: After updating from version 20.3.1 to 20.4 UXP, the plugin, which worked fine in the previous version, now has problems with displaying dialogs and panels, namely:
   all SELECT tags on a panel are stopped responding to modification.
   Version 20.3.1 does not exhibit these problems; dialogs and panels display SELECT tags correctly and respond to user modifications.
   In version 20.4, SELECT tags respond only by changing the border color to blue; the list is not displayed at all. It is impossible to change the selected list item. In the dialog, this behavior is observed in all elements.
   Reinstalling version 20.4 did not solve the problem. The incorrect behavior of the application persists.
   Beta and release version 20.3.1: The plugin behaves normally.

8. Separations Preview is not displaying any values

   EDIT:
   I appear to have resolved the issue by uninstalling some Dell software that was pre-installed on my workstation. Why or how that would interfere with InDesign I have no idea but colour this resolved.

   I'm having an issue with the Separations Preview panel not showing any percentage values, it's just blank. I think it started after updating from 20.3 to 20.3.1; but I installed versions back to 19.0 to test and it strangely seems to be effecting those versions too.

   Widows 11, all updates current.

   A web search showed this issue has popped up in that past and I follow the advice given (deleting caches fixed it for one).
   I've deleted caches
   Reset preferences
   Uninstalled/reinstalled
   etc.

   Nothing so far has fixed the issue.

9. "Open Recent" broken in 20.4

   EDIT 2:

   I updated this post to say it was resolved after I removed some dell software which also fixed an issue I had with the Separations Preview panel. However, I forgot that I had reverted to 20.3 - after updating again to 20.4 this is still an issue.

10. paragraph style override with archivo font

    I have setup a set of paragraph styles with different usage, but all of them can't be applied to my document. It keeps on giving me archivo black which is not the setting. During setup, all of them works well, but once applied to new textbox, regardless of what font that i chose, it will only give me archivo black font

    Thank you for reporting the issue. InDesign currently has a limitation of showing only 1 GPU card in the InDesign Preferences. Internally we pick the necessary Graphic card for rendering. It is currently under investigation.

13. leave User Workspaces ALONE

    Leave User Workspaces ALONE!! Updates should automatically grab the current workspaces and copy them in, STOP trying to shove three versions of "essentials" down our throats. Not all of us have admin access, so deleting after every update isnt an option. It also stops non-admin users from migrating manually. To say this is frustrating would be an understatement.

    "Essentials" is TRASH, but every **** update removes any custom ones I have (YES even if I choose migrate, it doesnt do anything so I stopped bothering) and force it into "Essentials". Just STOP. You DO NOT know our workspaces better than us. This shouldnt be difficult, but Adobe has been doing this for years, and now InDesign 2025 has THREE different Essentials? Thats missing the point entirely and then congratulating yourself for it.

    Cambio di formato.
    Se si scrive del testo in un nuovo documento in automatico scrive con colore registro e non solo nero

15. [ID-4265137] Can't override the keyboard shortcut (shift-e) for GPU preview

    Go to Keyboard Shortcuts, to View > GPU Preview toggle and delete the Default context shift-e shortcut (as it's already used in my set for Reveal in Bridge). Save, works fine for that session, forgets next restart.

18. InDesign 2025 (v20.3.1) freezes when interacting with modal dialog panels on macOS 15.5 (Sequoia)

    Hi Adobe team,

    I’m experiencing repeated, non-reproducible hangs in InDesign 2025 (v20.3.1) when interacting with certain modal dialog panels — such as Panel Options, Color Panel settings, and similar. This occurs on macOS 15.5 (Sequoia). After clicking inside one of these dialogs, InDesign sporadically becomes unresponsive (beachball), requiring a force quit via “Force Quit Applications.”

    The issue existed before a complete clean install of macOS and continues to occur even after the fresh system setup with no migration or prior settings carried over.

    Here are the key system details:
    • macOS version: 15.5 (24F74) – Developer Beta (Sequoia)
    • Mac model: MacBook Pro 16” M1 Max, 64 GB RAM
    • Displays: Dual Apple Studio Displays
    • InDesign version: 20.3.1 (latest Creative Cloud release as of June 2025)
    • No plugins installed
    • Font manager: RightFont (fonts synced via Dropbox folder, no Adobe plugin)
    • User environment: Freshly created custom workspaces
    • Documents: Problem occurs even with new, blank files
    • macOS was clean-installed from scratch before testing

    The hangs are unpredictable and extremely disruptive — multiple times a day — making productive work almost impossible. It’s incredibly frustrating to deal with such instability in basic UI operations like opening panel dialogs.

    Attached is a .hang report from macOS, which shows the InDesign main thread stalling in:
    UI::ModalDialogManager::RunModalLoop()
    BscModalDialog::DoModal()
    ControlPanel::ShowOptionsDialog()

    Other threads remain idle, indicating a UI-level deadlock — likely caused by a modal dialog waiting on OS-level window interaction that never completes.

    This seems related to changes in macOS 15’s window or dialog behavior, potentially affecting how InDesign renders or processes modal components.

    I understand Sequoia is still in beta, but since the issue exists in InDesign’s current public release (20.3.1) and is severe enough to disrupt daily work, I wanted to report it early.

19. vertical alignment within a text box is ignoring the space taken up by a wrap object

    I'm on Adobe InDesign 20.3.1 on an M1 Max MacBook Pro currently running Sequoia 15.5, but I always keep my system and apps up to date within a day or two of an update being released.

    The text wrap isn't affecting the vertical centering of text box content in the way it should. The vertical alignment within the text box seems to be ignoring the space taken up by the wrapped object, leading to the content being centered within the entire text box rather than just the available space above the wrapped object.
    In the screenshot, you can see that the text box that overlaps with the wrapping object is centering to the entirety of the text box. A 2nd text box on the left is shortened to show where it SHOULD be aligning to. The warping object is on top of the text box, and the text box does not have "Ignore Text Wrap" checked. Any ideas on a fix?

20. Converting pdf to an indesign doc removes all the hyphens

    Imported a PDF as an InDesign doc and it has removed all the hyphens. for example the word 'multi-disciplinary', has become 'multidisciplinary' - I'm having to do a find on the PDF doc and manually add them back in but wanted to let you @Adobe
