Having the same issue. Trying to upload my book to iBook store and it's refusing my book because of these large PNG files. I do need a cover but apple specifies:
"The following images are larger than 4,000,000 pixels and must be resized: Full EPUB. To calculate the image pixels, multiply the image height by its width. For more information on image specifications, see the FAQ module on iTunes Connect."
Cover Setting "Choose Image" not Rasterize
What should I do?? -

Hi Nick,
It seems, you are selecting 'Rasterize' option under 'Cover' drop down in 'Export Options' dialog of EPUB.
InDesign exports a PNG for cover of EPUB. If you do not want a cover in your EPUB, you may select 'None' option under 'Cover' in 'Export Options' dialog of EPUB.
Please let me know if it solves the issue. Thanks
