InDesign interface has issues after exiting touch mode
To replicate the bug, have at least two documents open.
After using touch mode and then switching to normal (essentials), the status bar at the end of the current document (contains pages, etc.) will look a little rough. In the document that was not focused, the entire status bar background is missing. In addition, on that document the scrollbars disappear and flash while you scroll, which is a little disturbing for your eyes.4 votes -
Hyperlinks to text anchors deleted when exporting to PDF and using Adobe World-Ready composers
The Adobe World-Ready composers break hyperlinks to internal text anchors when the document is exported to PDF.
Internal document links are composed of a source and a destination. The hyperlinks seem to get dropped when the destination is in a paragraph that uses one of the World-Ready composers.
The hyperlinks appear to work correctly in the hyperlinks panel within InDesign. It's only once the file is exported to a PDF and opened in a program like Acrobat that this issue becomes apparent. When reviewing the output in Acrobat, the destination no longer appears to be present in the document at all.
This does not seem to be a problem when Adobe Single-line Composer or Adobe Paragraph Composer are used, but this is not always a realistic solution.
This is an issue in at least the last 2 major versions of InDesign (19.X and 20.X).

variable fonts
In a TrueType based variable font, if some nodes have implied deltas at the edge of outline, that edge can jump around as seen in the attached video. The right stem of the "n" should stay on the baseline. And it does in all other environment that I tested (Illustrator, Photoshop, Chrome, Safari …).
I tried to attach the font but get an error that .ttf and .zip files are not allowed. Here is a link to the file in dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/69ynar0ds0k44fhsuge2j/ImpliedDeltasVF.ttf?rlkey=zccl17cd67ru4oat5qlt2eb99&st=c469cifb&dl=0

selecting text boxes
InDesign 20.2 Mac M1 Sequoia 15.4.1. When I click a text box to select it, nothing happens until I jiggle the mouse. When this happens the corner boxes appear. However, many times when I click, nothing appears selected. This bug is unsettling. This is why I prefer to use InDesign 19 for important jobs. The text block in the attached screen shot has been single clicked.

Character style applied to Table of Contents header
When creating a book's table of contents (TOC), if you apply a character style to the first chapter, that style is applied to the TOC entry but it's also wrongly applied to the TOC header as well. It seems to be taking whatever character style that's applied to the first letter in the first chapter.
I have a sample file I can send.
Tested in InDesign 2024 and 2022 for Mac.
Discussed here:

Error message is seen while opening InDesign after Photoshop 26.5 update
Problem Description
After the PhotoShop 26.5 update this morning, when opening InDesign, I got an error popup regarding a missing startup script in PhotoShop. The same thing does not happen in other CC apps.
Workaround 1:
- Uninstall Photoshop 26.5 (make sure to remove preferences).
- Reinstall Photoshop 26.5. This will install the correct “photoshop_v2025.jsx”.
Workaround 2:
- Open jsx, which is available at "/Library/application support/Adobe/Startup Scripts CC/Adobe Photoshop/" mentioned in the alert in the Text Editor
- Add } in the last line

Accessible PDF exports paragraph lines in individual content containers
Steps:
1. Create a simple InDesign file, and type in a paragraph on several lines, apply any paragraph style
2. Export to a tagged PDF and examine the <P> tag in the Tags paneExpected result: The entire paragraph is in one content container
Actual result: Each line of text is in its own content container. The paragraph is really hard to read in the PDF when pressing Down Arrow with NVDA or JAWS. This causes each line to be read separately, e.g. with NVDA the default is to have "Use screen layout" as Off.
In InDesign lines can be quite short because of the layout, making this a significant usability concern, because users can't read the text as expected with settings that work well in other PDFs or the web. They are forced to figure out alternate settings/navigation options just to read a paragraph.
When I export a paragraph on multiple lines from Microsoft Word it is placed in a single content container in the <P> tag in PDF.
I am using InDesign 20.2.

InDesign Version: 20.1

Chip: Apple M1 MAXI regularly update a large file. Any time I try to update the Share for Review link, InDesign crashes. In smaller files, I receive an error message saying, "There was an error updating the artifact." The link will successfully update, but not without crashing or errors.

Unable to Move Objects
After selecting and trying to move any object or text frame, the selected object will jump to the left and down from the cursor; making the usage of InDesign extremely difficult.

Indesign 2025 slowness
This InDesign 2025 version is ridiculously slow. Change of Type tool to Selection tools it is taking 5 seconds or any other tool. Any single letter for correction 5 seconds. Selection of any item, 5 seconds. Anything one does is not less than 5-7 seconds in all. This is nonsense problems. The cursor should move FREELY and instantly.

Some glyphs in ai files appear as other glyphs in PDFs (created from InDesign)
DE: Einige Glyphen in ai-Dateien kommen in (aus InDesign erzeugten) PDFs als andere Glyphen an.
InDesign 19.5.1.114 | Windows 11
The ohm sign Ω - U+02126 is placed several times in an InDesign document:
2x in an Illustrator graphic
1x in another Illustrator graphic created additionally for test purposes
1x placed directly in InDesignIf a PDF is created from the InDesign document, only the Ohm characters present in both Illustrator graphics are written to the PDF as different Unicode characters - and also as different other Unicode characters: U+0001F and U+00016.
(See AI-Glyph-Test.pdf)The problem was noticed by checking the PDF with 'PDF Accessibility Checker' from axes4: The error ‘Text object with characters without Unicode mapping’ is reported for the Ohm characters in the Illustrator graphics.
(See PAC-Report_AI-Glyph-Test.png)The PAC error is not reported for the Ohm character set directly in the InDesign document. But: the glyph Ω - U+02126 set in the InDesign document was replaced by the glyph Ω - U+003A9 during PDF export.

Index type range bugs
I specifically have my problems with "To Next Use Of Style" and "For Next # Of Paragraphs"
To Next Use Of Style
The adobe guide specifically says that the range is until the NEXT use of the specific para style but if the paragraph that contains the index marker is the same as the intended end of range, it only recognizes the first page. It counts the current para style aswell.
So if I want to i.e. make an index marker on a bridgehead with a range until the next bridgehead, I have to put the marker to the beginning of the following paragraph instead of on the bridgehead as the author intended. For Next # Of Paragraphs
Here the range is always only to the beginning of the paragraphs, not till the end. So if I have an index marker on a paragraph and the range should end at the end of the first paragraph which exceeds to the following page, I have to type "2" instead of "1" since the latter only counts the beginning of the paragraph (or in this case the point of the index marker) and thus only the first page is shown in the index output.
But Using the n+1 method is buggy if there are later corrections and the sentence flow shifts in a way that this paragraph that was previously splitted to two pages now is placed on one and ends on the bottom of the page, whereas the next paragraph begins on the following page. In this case the previously page rage will still be set until the beginning of the second paragraph and thus include the second page wrongfully.
TL;DR
Please make the page-range type function "For Next # Of Paragraphs" disregard the style of the paragraph with the index maker.
Please edit the function of "For Next # Of Paragraphs" in a way that the range ends at the end of the paragraph, not the beginning.I specifically have my problems with "To Next Use Of Style" and "For Next # Of Paragraphs"

Latency issue on Mac since version 20.0.1
Every action, every time I switch back to InDesign after using another application, every event is preceded by a 1-2 second delay. When spending the whole day working on InDesign, this becomes unbearable. This is the first time I've experienced this, and it has been happening since the new version 20.
See video. The Mac "spinning wheel" appears multiple times in one minute. Imagine this over several hours or days.
Adobe, cold you please fix it asap?

Alert is shown on opening documents in InDesign(v20.0.1) - "This file is already open by another user or another application."
Yesterday I edited a file in Indesign V19.5.1. Now I can no longer open this and many of my previous design files. I get the error message: ‘This file is already open by another user or application. This file may be stored on a network server and cannot be opened until the other user closes it.
I have updated to V20.0.1 and reinstalled V19.0. Both did not help. This bug has been around for a long time in different versions and it occurs regularly.

Persistent Cursor and Functionality Issues in Adobe InDesign After macOS Sequoia 15.1.1 Update
Description of the Issue:
I’m experiencing multiple issues with Adobe InDesign across different versions (including the latest and earlier releases) after updating to macOS Sequoia 15.1.1. These problems occur consistently across various files and significantly disrupt workflow.
Issues encountered:
Unable to apply colors from the swatch palette – clicking on a swatch does not work for either text or objects.
Styles (both text and object) cannot be applied by clicking; I must use right-click and "Apply Style" instead.
Frames on the page shift a few millimeters upon clicking, seemingly on their own.
Stroke color for objects cannot be selected or modified.
The selection tool lags and causes objects to move slightly to the left when selected.
Fonts cannot be changed from the toolbar – clicking the dropdown does nothing.
These issues are highly disruptive and make it impossible to work efficiently. No other changes have been made to my system aside from the macOS update, so I suspect it is the root cause of the problems.I would appreciate guidance on resolving these issues as soon as possible.

[ID-4255870] Document Fonts available even if not active
Working on an indesign document that has its own “Document Fonts” folder that contains fonts specific to that document (not activated anywhere else), then switching to a new document that does not have any “Document Fonts” folder, the fonts of the previous document are still available, but if I close indesign completely and then reopen the new document the fonts are no longer available.
This is not correct, fonts that are not activated or not present in the “Document Fonts” folder specific to that document, should not be available for other documents that do not reside in the same folder.
The old version of indesign (19.5) didn't do this.
Furthermore, if you export a PDF of a document that contains a non-activated font, but which is displayed correctly due to the above, in the generated PDF the font will be replaced by a system font (Minion Pro, Times, etc.)

Command-S shortcut activates DON'T SAVE
Command-S shortcut activates DON'T SAVE
InDesign 20.0
MacOS 15.1
Swedish languageI noticed that Command-S activates the Don't Save button in the dialog shown in the image.
- Command-W to close the document
- The dialog shows Cancel, Don't Save and Save
- Command-S will activate the Don't Save button!
I tried it on two Macs with the same setup.
This is a serious bug and it's much worse than a crash.
After a crash the changes will be kept by the crash restore feature. If someone use the Command-S shortcut in the scenario described here they will erase all changes with no way to get them back.
Command-S will do a Save in the same dialog in Apples apps.
Other users said this bug is not showing up with English language.
