The lists of entries for a cross reference is not ordered
Some panels with items (e.g. links) can be ordered by clicking the column header. Others cannot. Among these are the lists of references to choose from when inserting a cross-reference. These seem to be totally unordered. As a result, it is a pain to look for the right one (e.g. choose from a few hundred in a large document). I consider this a bug because other panels do have this ordering

Colour picker turns everything to blank with strokes, applies stroke
Colour picker is broken. Everything is checked, but when I use it, it turns the object picked from into blank with black stroke. When applied, it adds a black stroke. This is true of text, objects, and links. Deleting local settings changed nothing.

Profiles equal to the Output-Intend get lost on PDF-Export
When exporting a PDF all profiles equal to the Output-Intend (which in my case is the Document-Colorspace PSO Coated V3) get lost when exporting.
I have created a small test-file with an PSO Coated V3 Image and an ISO Coated V2 Image.
When Exporting as PDF X4 with Output-Intend Set to PSO Coated V3 the Image that IS PSO Coated V3 looses its profile and the same for the ISO Coated V2 when the Output-Intend is set to that.
This is horrible for Colormanagement. I've been in contact with "Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG" and they suggested to report this to Adobe as a bug.
They way it is you can not differenciate between images that don't have a profile and images that already have the correct profile. As a result all images get converted again in prepress - even those that already are in the correct profile.
If you have any further questions feel free to ask and i'll help out as good as i can :)
Thanks!

Missing color in PDF from InDesign
I have an InDesign file with a placed PSD file in it, which contains two spot colors. When I save the file as a PDF out of InDesign, only one of the two spot channels is visible.
I'm running the latest versions of InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat. To reproduce, open the attached InDesign file and save as a PDF. The resulting PDF should show a yellow and blue spot, but only the blue is visible. (The PDF generated during packaging also exhibits the problem.)

段落スタイルと文字スタイル編集でのいつも発生する1分ほどのフリーズ
I'm using [InDesign] 2025 in a Japanese environment. I mainly use it for book [DTP] and [Epub3] export.
I'm experiencing a very frustrating issue.
When editing paragraph styles and character styles, the program freezes for about a minute with each edit. When editing styles, I make changes in several places, which takes several minutes, making it extremely inefficient. In [InDesign] CS6, this process was instantaneous.
Please fix this as soon as possible.
Note that this editing freeze does not seem to be related to the size of the open document. It occurs even with small documents.
Thank you in advance.1 vote -
The first letter typed in is English even when my system is set to Hebrew
I'm using Indesign 20.5 on an Intel Mac Pro running Mac OS Sequoia 15.6.
Here are the steps to reproduce the issue:
1. Insert a new text box and enter some English text.
2. Select the text
3. Change the keyboard input to Hebrew.
4. Start typing in Hebrew. The resulting text will be an English letter (corresponding to the Hebrew letter typed in) followed by the correct Hebrew letters typed.
Two things to note:
1. You must select all the text in the text box for this issue to take place.
2. For some reason Adobe fonts are immune to this issueI'm using Indesign 20.5 on an Intel Mac Pro running Mac OS Sequoia 15.6.

I’ve been hunting for something that really tests reasoning instead of just memory. A mix of puzzles and logic seems like the perfect challenge.

Bullets, Nested Style through End Nested Style Marker Causes Visible Shift
Indesign 2025, Mac OS Ventura 13.7.2
I've created a bullet style with a nested style that applies a character style to the type up through the first ":".
I duplicated that style and changed the nested style setting to apply the same character style up through the first "end nested style marker".
When I set a paragraph to the second style, the type shifts position. No other change was made to the second style other than changing the parameters of the nested style.
I have no idea why this is happening. I cannot find a baseline shift or other setting that would be causing this. The second bullet is in the same text box, is not in a table, and there is no other character style applied to the text or text box that I can see.
Note in the screen shot, the baseline of the second bullet in the right-hand text box is shifted down. It is set to the second style which is an exact duplicate of the first except the marker for the nested style is set to go through "end nested style" rather than a colon.

Feature Requests: Table Cell Intersection Styling and Multi-Page Table Cell Support for Merged Cells
Request 1: Multi-Page Table Cell Support for Merged Cells
Current Problem:
InDesign cannot break merged table cells across pages, creating significant limitations for complex hierarchical tables. When a merged cell spans more rows than can fit on a single page, the entire table becomes unviewable or requires manual workarounds.
Real-World Scenario:
• Level 1: A main category (e.g., "Strategic Goal") spans 30 rows
• Level 2: 30 detailed items, each in individual rows
• Current Issue: The merged cell cannot break across pages, making the table unusable
Proposed Solution:
Implement automatic cell threading for merged cells across page breaks, similar to Microsoft Word's functionality:
• Allow merged cells to split naturally at page boundaries
• Maintain visual continuity with repeated cell content or indicators
• Preserve cell formatting and styles across page breaks
• Optional: Add "Keep with next X rows" setting for better control
Technical Benefits:
• Maintains InDesign's superior table styling capabilities
• Enables complex document structures without design compromises
• Reduces manual workarounds and increases productivity
• Aligns with user expectations from other professional document toolsRequest #2: Table Cell Intersection Styling
Current Limitation:
Table cells cannot have rounded corners or customized intersection points because cells share borders rather than having independent edges.
Conceptual Innovation:
Instead of trying to add "corner radius" to cells (which is geometrically impossible with shared borders), introduce Intersection Point Styling.
Proposed Feature: "Intersection Styles"
Similar to current Line Styles, add styling options for where cell borders meet:
Intersection Style Options:
• Round: Curved intersection points
• Beveled: Angled corner cuts
• Notched: Small decorative cuts
• Custom: User-defined intersection shapes
• Weighted: Different styles based on border thickness
Implementation Details:
Current: Line Style (solid, dashed, dotted, custom)
Proposed: + Intersection Style (round, beveled, notched, custom)
Technical Precedent:
• SVG supports stroke-linejoin properties
• CSS has similar capabilities with border-radius and border-collapse
• Vector graphics software already handles line intersections
Benefits:
• Maintains table structure integrity
• Provides design flexibility without breaking functionality
• More logical than impossible "cell corner radius"
• Expandable system for future intersection decorationsImpact Statement:
These improvements would:
1. Eliminate major workflow barriers for complex document design
2. Distinguish InDesign further from competitors by solving real problems
3. Maintain InDesign's superiority in professional typography and layout
4. Address frequent user requests without compromising existing functionality
Both features leverage InDesign's existing strengths while addressing fundamental limitations that force users toward less capable alternatives for specific use cases.Request 1: Multi-Page Table Cell Support for Merged Cells

When waking from sleep, screen turns black or magenta
InDesign 20.5 (and previous versions). Apple Mac mini M1 2020, 16GB, Sequoia 15.6 (and previous iterations of the OS). Samsung UJ590 UHD Monitor.
Not the first time this has happened but as I’m on the latest version of ID now it’s becoming increasingly frustrating.
When waking from sleep, in GPU Preview, my entire screen is either black or magenta and I cannot see the components of my file. If I turn on Overprint Preview the assets can be seen. If I then switch back to GPU Preview, the screen changes back to black or magenta.
I have to quit and re-open to be able to work again. It seems to me that it's a GPU Preview issue?

When duplicating groups in Cell Styles, new styles are not appended with " copy", two styles with same namae
When duplicating a group of cell styles, the resulting duplicate group's name is appended with " copy" but the style names contained within that group folder are not appended with " copy" and therefore you have duplicate style names in the Cell Styles. Additionally, when duplicating more than one style within a group, sometimes multiple "copy" styles are created, and other times, they are not, rather, the edit style dialog box appears...but on save, no style is saved into the group. Seems a bit kluge.

Change Format selection for "Change Case" disappears after altering Find Format
Indesign 2025
When searching for a style for which I want to perform a change case operation, it works fine. If I then want to change the style that I'm searching for, when I confirm that change and return to the main window of find/replace, the parameters for the "change format" window get wiped out...I believe this only happens with change case. I tested this by changing the case in the Basic formats to "all caps". I found that if I used any other parameter, or any other parameter in conjunction with the new "change case"...the "Change Format" parameters remained...but when only using the change case parameter, "Change Format" gets wiped out if you choose a different style or parameter in "Find Format".In short, the first time works. If you then try to change the Find Format selection, the Change Format selection for "Change Case" gets wiped out.
(video link deleted, sorry)

Alternate Layouts lost, names missing and out of order
I've had a reoccuring issue of InDesign documents with multiple alternate layouts 'losing' their layout names and placements.
I've attached a screenshot of what my alternate layouts should look like, and then again what they now look like.
InDesign no longer sees it as an alternate layout. This seems to happen some time after working in a file, or re-opening a file.
No updates have been made to InDesign between closing and re-opening these files.I'm on MacOS Sequoia 15.6

Game

Outer Edge Bleed Option for Facing Pages
Description:
InDesign currently applies identical bleed settings to all four edges of each page, even in facing-page layouts.
For publications such as magazines, catalogs, and books, the inner (spine) edge bleed between facing pages is unnecessary and can cause issues in visualization, export, and imposition.Feature Request:
Add an option in the Document Setup and Export Settings to enable Outer Edge Bleed mode.In this mode, bleed is applied only to the top, bottom, and outer edges of each spread.
The inner edge between facing pages would have no bleed, resulting in a cleaner, more accurate PDF output that reflects the final printed result.Benefits:
• Reduces unnecessary bleed on inner edges.
• Produces more accurate PDF previews for client review.
• Minimizes manual adjustments in master pages or export settings.Description:

copying and pasting from 2024 to 2025
When copying and pasting from 2024 files into a 2025 file the object come in as an image in one text frame, and 'paste remembers layer' does not work either to solve this problem because it brings them into on un-named layer. 2025 is not recognizing the individual items nor the individual layers they are on in 2024.

Accessible alt text for hyperlinks needs to be supported by scripting
With InDesign scripting, it's possible to search for "searchTerms" from one column of a tab-delimited file, then set corresponding hyperlinks from another column. This means I can set hundreds of hyperlinks in just a few minutes. However, it remains impossible to set the hyperlink's alt text with a script — that function isn't scriptable. So either I ignore this important accessibility requirement (not an option), or I still have to manually edit each hyperlink, one at a time, wasting many hours and introducing the possibility of errors on each one.
For example, a document contains hundreds of product numbers or reference numbers, and each one needs to link to a URL. The numbers themselves aren't sufficient to describe what the links lead to; they need alt text. I have a spreadsheet that lists these numbers, their corresponding URLs and their alt text descriptions. I can set the hyperlinks using a script and the spreadsheet, but I can't set the alt text.

Application Window resizes to bottom half of screen after waking Mac from sleep
Despite this long-standing issue being declared "fixed" in InDesign 2024 19.2, it's still happening. It's also happening with Illustrator and Photoshop.
MacStudio, macOS 15.5, all Adobe apps up to date as of date of posting.
