There is an extreme lag when using the Import PDF Comments feature. Sometimes I have to select "Accept" multiple times to activate the comment. And the file is very slow, it can take 20 or 30 seconds for the comment to be applied which is unbearable when working on a large 300+ page book with hundreds of comments. This used to work seamlessly but with the 2024 upgrade it is a total nightmare. I searched the forums and it seems like this has been a problem for some time and has not been fixed—this should be resolved considering this is the primary use of InDesign—layout!

Dynamic hyperlinks in endnotes exported to an interactive pdf don't work
Endnotes within InDesign are dymanic, i.e. you can move between endnote number in body copy to the endnote reference by clicking the number.
If you export a document with endnotes to a Print pdf these dynamic links are retained, so you can click on a number to go to a reference and vice-versa. This is useful when you have a document of hundreds of pages.
However, if you export to an Interactive pdf the dynamic links no longer work, which is bizarre, as this is where you need them, not in a print pdf.
I have a document containing hundreds of endnotes and interactive buttons (to move to the next or previous page). Currently interactive buttons don't work in pdfs exported to print, but endnotes don't work in interactive pdfs, so seemingly you can only have one or the other!
Version of Adobe InDesign: 2024 19.0
Steps to reproduce the issues:
1. Create a document with endnotes
2. Export to Interactive PDFExpected result:
Endnotes numbers in body text if clicked link directly to the endnote reference at the end of the document, and vice-versa.Actual result:

Share for Review has ISSUES
I have been using the Share for Review feature for almost two years now for my employer to review documents that I am creating for them. I use it almost daily and never had any issues until the updates that came a month or two ago.
Since the Share for Review feature was updated I can...
No longer copy text from the comments that are made to paste into my document. This is troublesome because I am generally laying out curriculum that has been written and there is constant text edits being made during our review process, so I was copying 75% of my comments and can no longer do that. Me having to type out their changes generally results in further problems and changes that need to be made.
The comments they are making if they are highlighting specific words to remove/edit are not displaying correctly INSIDE InDesign. If I view the comments through the web, they will display correctly.
I.E. I was just editing a paragraph where they were adding paragraph breaks. In InDesign, it highlighted half of a word in the middle of a sentence and the comment said "add paragraph break here". I knew that couldn't be right, so I viewed it on the web and the real comment was on a completely different sentence. When comments are not highlighting the right words or displaying correctly in InDesign, everyone is getting confused and it is further complicating our review and editing process. When I go to update my link after making requested edits on my file, it takes FOREVER. It used to update in seconds, and now I will get a spinning wheel for 10+ minutes. This is super annoying and delays all of my process for absolutely no reason.
PLEASE FIX THESE ISSUES. It's so frustrating when it's something I use every day and it used to work completely fine until it was "updated".

The magnification option is gone from the menu bar in InCopy 2024
I'm not sure if this was a strange UI decision, a preference I can't find or a bug. It seems that the magnification dropdown in InCopy 2024 that was beside the "Help" button is gone.

Version 19.0 does not remember the document path for Save or Exporting to PDF
Since upgrading to v19, it does not default to the path of the original opened document when saving, and Export to a PDF file does not default to the directory of the InDesign document.
The default is you Documents folder.
This is not the first time an upgrade has caused this behavior.
PLEASE fix this !2 votesWhen we update from InDesign 18.5 to InDesign 19.0, the conversion of documents happen. The document is opened and the user needs to save it. We have to save the document and the same folder from where 18.5 document is opened will be seen. For export workflow without saving the document, export will point to Documents folder.

Logical bug: font weight change to bold and back
System: ID version 17.4.2 on Windows 10.
Problem: some fonts have weights like "Light", next to Regular and Bold. If a text is set to weight Light and you change to Bold by Ctrl+Shift+B, the text becomes bold. When changing it back, it doesn't become Light, but Regular. The logic would be to check if there is a paragraph style applied and what's its default weight and use this when "unbolding".2 votes -
Imported PDF comments listed in the wrong order
- InDesign 19.0
- Mark up an InDesign-exported PDF using Acrobat. The page should be text-heavy and have multiple, tedious changes indicated. Import the marked-up PDF into the source InDesign document's layout. Display the PDF and InDesign layout side-by-side on your screen.
- The comments should be listed in the same order in Acrobat and InDesign.
- The comments are listed in the correct order in Acrobat, but are in a completely random order in InDesign.
- See attached screen shot.
PDF comments invariably appear in the wrong order in the list compared to their counterparts in Acrobat. The Acrobat list makes sense as comments are listed from the top to the bottom of each page. But in InDesign they are listed in a completely random order.
Because not all comments get imported correctly, and do not retain formatting from Acrobat (which is another problem that needs to be addressed), I must put the PDF and the InDesign file on my screen side-by-side so I can check the source PDF as I work my way through a long document. I need to go down the list in order.
It's incredibly frustrating and time consuming to not be able to follow along between the two Adobe programs in the same order. You're forced to either jump randomly all over the page in InDesign, or follow Acrobat's more sensible order but then hunt in InDesign's list for the corresponding comment.
Please fix this, it's been broken since PDF Comments was first introduced!

Fonts only showing in drop down, cannot type them directly in
InDesign 18.5
Issue:
Highlight text
Click on the font Window (mine is displayed on right)
begin to type in installed or adobe font, font does not populateWhen I type in a font, I expect to be able to populate it
Wen I try to finish typing the font in the searchbar, it doesn't let me type in the next letter and just gives me a different font. Some fonts don't show up or do once and never again, yet are in font dropdown. This includes both installed OTC and installed Adobe fonts.

Browsing, Searching, and Activating fonts
For the last long while I've been having trouble with fonts in indesign and I've heard that others have the same issues.
Only the first time I open the fonts list after restarting indesign, can I scroll through it with my arrow keys. After that, it doesn't work and therefore, it's very difficult to go through my fonts.
Additionally, when I try typing in to the fonts bar to search for a font, it often doesn't pull up the font, as though it's not installed, when I find it if I scroll through the list.
Also, if I try to activate a font through indesign, it endlessly tries, but doesn't actually activate.

After IDS install or update calls to preflight() don't work unless you manually edit ExportPreflightReport.jsx
Whenever we install or update InDesign Server we can't call preflight() unless we manually edit the ExportPreflightReport.jsx file found here:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign Server 2023\Scripts\PreflightWe've had to do this for every version of IDS we've installed or updated (v15, v18.2.1 and 18.5). We're using Windows Server 2022 in Azure (Win64).
I can't attach jsx or zip files but edits required are described at the bottom of this post: https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/problem-with-save-preflight-report-using-javascript-in-macintosh/td-p/5831477
If we don't make these changes, calls to preflight on IDS don't produce a report. The script (ExportPreflightReport.jsx) works on InDesign Desktop.
It would be great if IDS shipped with this ExportPreflightReport.jsx ready to go.
Thanks.

Indesign FREEZES or GETS STUCK when convertign another "version" file
My Indesign version is CC 2019. 14.0.2 64 bits
I try to convert from version 18.2 and I logged in, as the advertisement said. But when I click "convert" the button turns from blue to grey and unselectable. And the advertisement freezes there. I have to put cancel and the program lets me cancel and the bar above is again functional. But nothing else. The program still doesnt let me convert the file.2 votes -
Drag copying to move the duplicate object no longer shows the original during the move.
Bug, or simply changed way to do this with modifier keys? I've noticed that lately when I drag copy an object to its new position, the original vanishes during the drag. Often I need to drag it and still see the original while dragging for an exact placement in relationship to the original being copied. Has that vanished from InDesign? If not, I've not been able to find a list of modifier keys for drag copying variations.

portrait mode - Whether at 125% or 100% the Indesign Interface scaling option under Preferences does not work.
BUG DETAILS- On a Monitor that is setup in a Portrait configuration, whether at 125% or 100% display scale in Windows Settings, the Indesign Interface scaling option under Preferences does not work.
Adobe is a publishing software, especially InDesign. Book Publishers and their graphic design team need to have the option of working in a monitor setup in a Portrait configuration for the purpose of full vertical page (height) dimensions. I cannot get Indesign to Scale the Interface at all under Preferences when monitors are set in Portrait configuration. This is a bug because the InDesign interface does scale (as intended, under Preferences) when monitors are in landscape configuration.
The result is that the menu items and tool icons are so small they are virtually unreadable.
Walked through this with a tech on Adobe phone Support to confirm all this - that portrait Interface scaling is not possible on my end or the tech's end. We walked through all the troubleshooting steps, including setting the Windows Display Scale settings to 100% and trying to adjust Display Resolution.
It remains unresolved. Those of us with glasses and eye strain, thank you in advance
