Color Picker causes InDesign to Crash
Every time I try to use the eyedrop Color Picker tool in InDesign it causes InDesign to crash and close. It will not allow me to drag the eyedropper to pick up a color, and if I try to drag the eyedropper it makes the color box freeze to where I cannot click "Ok" or "Cancel" and I need to press the "Esc" button on my keyboard to get out of the color box. Shortly after closing the color box, InDesign will crash and close. I have tried updating InDesign to the newest version, turning on/off my computer multiple times, sending crash reports every time the issue happens, creating a new file in InDesign, closing all other applications. When I look at the activity monitor on my Mac, it says InDesign is using 99%-101% CPU. I have a new (purchased 09/2022) MacBook M1 Pro with 16GB of memory, 500GB Flash Storage (494 GB available) Version 12.6 Monterey.
Adobe InDesign 2023 Version 18.1
Steps to Reproduce this issue: Every time I try to click the eyedropper tool to change the color of either text, a line, or a background box it will cause InDesign to crash. I created a new InDesign file to see if the issue will persist in a separate file and it crashed in the new file as well.
Expected Result: I expect to click and drag the eyedropper tool to a part of a photo that has been placed in InDesign to capture the color to use for either text, a line, or a box.
Actual Results: The color box freezes to where I cannot click "Ok" or "Cancel", then InDesign will crash and close on its own and ask if I want to send a crash report. I always say yes to sending a crash report.

Word Import | BUG | Diacritic characters change language and formatting
Hi together,
if a Word docx or doc document contains text in italics that are not formatted using a character style diacritic characters will import to InDesign with:[1] Wrong language property. Instead of e.g. English (US) it will be Arabic
[2] Formatting is in "Regular" and not in "Italic"For more details see this thread at the Adobe InDesign Forum:
italics dropped for diacritic characters when importing Word docs

https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/italics-dropped-for-diacritic-characters-when-importing-word-docs/td-p/13531639Also see my reply in the same thread for some sample screenshots and attached documents:
Also note that the Word Import allows the creation of several character styles with no names and no properties in the recieving document! At best this is a disturbing thing…
A workaround for that specific case was to copy/paste formatted from Word to InDesign.

Uwe Laubender

JPG exports render horizontal "rips" in the image
Exporting an image as a jpg is bugged and renders horizontal rips in the image. Easily seen in this photo of power lines. Compare with a png-export which looks fine.

I was wondering if booklet files will be cloud accessible/save-able in the future?
Will booklet files (.indb) be able to be cloud based in the future?

Persistent place in Creative Cloud folders
I would love it if my location within a cloud folder was persistent. In other words, if I wasn't always put back to the root directory of my Creative Cloud files. As it is, I have to navigate back into my folders each time I want to save or place or do almost anything. This wastes a lot of time.

InDesign CC2023 forces paragraph in overset
Since the update to InDesign v18.0 (CC2023) the first line of a Paragraph with custom Bullet (Numbering) text, gets forced in overset when the first word is longer than 8-9 characters. They don't flow to the next paragraph and there is still enough space to keep the word in the Text Frame.
In the example you'll see two Text Frames with one with the word "Duurzaamheid" cut in two and the second in overset with no space between "Duur" and "zaamheid" wich forces everything in overset. In InDesign 17.4 everything works as desired. Uploading an InDesign-file was not possible so you can download the file here: https://shared-assets.adobe.com/link/0a625433-b9e6-45ae-7b5d-c80e212e3560Since the update to InDesign v18.0 (CC2023) the first line of a Paragraph with custom Bullet (Numbering) text, gets forced in overset when the first word is longer than 8-9 characters. Critical Bug with Font embedding on PDF Export - InDesign 17.2 and up
OS: Windows 10
Version: InDesign 17.2 and 17.2.1After the update to 17.2 and 17.2.1 the font embedding is not working properly anymore on PDF Export. It does not matter if we export to PDF/X-3 or smallest file size.
The font in question here is Roboto Slab.
After a downgrade to 17.1 everything worked properly. An upgrade to 17.2.1 again produced the same error.Expected result: propper font integration
Actual result: Missing embedded font, text is torn apart, missing charactersPlease see attached images for export result and error message

high CPU usage version 17.2
as referred in these posts there is a performance problem with indesign that coming from version 17.0 and still exist(version 17.2):
No answer from Adobe , No fix , nothing unfortunately. It uses about 20 % of CPU when you open Indesign , it does not matter there is a document that is opened or not , it uses 20% of CPU all the time. non of other Adobe's 2022 apps have this weird problem.

Buttons/interactivity not working
Buttons and interactivity not working. I'm working on a MAC, latest MacOS, latest versions of all things Adobe. On export of my document to PDF, hover states no longer show for buttons, there's a huge lag on the response from buttons, and I'm also having a bizarre issue with clicks of buttons creating a box the shape of the button that is a preview of the page its supposed to jump to. All of this worked fine for me until a few weeks ago and all of a sudden, it no longer functions. Can anybody suggest ways to troubleshoot and find a fix?

Scrolling loop
I have a scrolling bug in the share for review feature. Even in a small file of 10 pages, when scrolling too quickly up or down. The scroll gets stuck in some kind of loop, only reloading the page seems to solve the problem. Tried on 2 different macbook pro's and an Imac running Big Sur and High Sierra.
In the attached video, you first see me scrolling 'gently' which doesn't cause any problems, but after 'flicking' the mouse pad / magic mouse a few times it gets stuck in this loop.

AppleScript Finder communication
InDesign version 16.3.2 with OSX 10.14.6 or later
Indesign script‘s with calls to the Finder or other Apple apps work running from Apple’s Script Editor, but break when running from InDesign’s Scripts panel. Get an Not Authorized to Send Apple Events to Finder error.
This breaks when running from the Scripts panel, but worked with InDesign 2020:
tell application id "com.adobe.InDesign"
tell application "Finder"
activate
display dialog "Hello"
end tell
end tellCalls to other Adobe apps are ok, so this still works from the panel:
tell application id "com.adobe.InDesign"
tell application id "com.adobe.Photoshop"
activate
display dialog "Hello"
end tell

Black horizontal lines appear on screen when scrolling
When I expand the Indesign window to fill 90% of my 27" screen, I get numerous black horizontal lines appearing when scrolling. Other editing functions typical when handling type on a layout also produce random broken lines. If I click a page forward or back arrow, the lines disappear. I was first using v16.2 and just upgraded to 16.3.2 today with same results. Just discovered I have to reduce the widow size to about 75% of my screen size for the lines to not appear at all. Never had this happen on previous versions and need almost full screen width to handle complicated layouts. IOS Big Sur 11.4 on 27" iMac.

Random blocks of color, screen skipping
InDesign v16.2.1 - Started getting large blocks of color in my InDesign docs - never in the same file, appears randomly but always when scrolling. And this morning, a weird "skipping" thing happened - see attached. I've updated my iOS, un- and reinstalled InDesign to no avail.

Artefact issues with Accessible PDFs.
Elements on the master page are not tagged as artifacts, according to PAC 3.
Not even with a corresponding style that has this property.
PAC 3: https://www.access-for-all.ch/en/pdf-accessibility-checker.htmlThis behavior also applies to these elements on a normal page:
- Table borders
- Paragraph border
- Column rules
...This is a big problem because these elements have to be defined manually as artifacts. This can quickly be hundreds of elements.

Adjust layout without resizing anchored objects
With the Adjust Layout feature activated, if I resize the margins of a page or apply a master page with different margins, anchored objects on the page end up getting resized. I have even had some anchored objects disappear completely (although the anchors are still there). I want to be able to adjust the main text frame on a page to the new margins WITHOUT changing the anchored objects, which are part of the text flow and should not be changed.
For example, in designing a book, I want to apply a certain master page to pages with chapter headings. But if there is an image or graphic anchored in the text below the chapter title, that will also get resized when the master page is applied. This is not what I want, and it creates a lot more work rather than making things easier. Could there be an option to leave anchored objects alone when adjusting the layout? Thank you.

PDF comments importation Issue (wrong position)
- Indesign 16.1 Windows 10
- Create a text with no stroke, duplicate it and add a stroke. Export a pdf, insert comments in adobe acrobat, the import the pdf comments in Indesign.
- The PDF comments should be imported a their position.
- The PDF comments are not imported on their position on the text with a stroke.
I have an issue when I import PDF comments :
The issue is that comments are displaced and not aligned at their correct location in the Indd project doc that make the PDF.I spent some times on this, and found the reason :
If your text has a stroke, then the comments wil be displaced.
If your text has no stroke, no issue. On the pic attached, you can see on the left, the inserted comment on the PDF, and on the right, The imported comments on Indesign.
Thank you

Can't Rename Objects in Layers Panel on MacOS Big Sur
Adobe Indesign 16.1, macOS Big Sur 11.2.3
I cannot rename objects or layers in the layers panel. I've attached a video of the typical triple-click method and all you see is a quick flash of the editing mode but it is never actually able to be edited.
6 votesHello there,
The way to rename in the Layers panel is to click once to highlight, then click again to rename.
Please see the attachment on how it is to be done.
