ePub synthetic spread export not including xml / html language tags
Version 21.0
When exporting a Fixed Layout EPUB with the <Enable Synthetic Spreads> option, the language tags are not exporting in the HTML, which is an issue for accessibility. The language tags ARE exported properly when the <Convert Spread to Landscape Page> option is chosen, so this clearly seems to be a glitch with this particular export option.
I would expect the following code to be at the top of each of the HTML files <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en" xml:lang="en" xmlns:epub="http://www.idpf.org/2007/ops">, and this at the top of the OPF file: <package xmlns="http://www.idpf.org/2007/opf" version="3.0" unique-identifier="bookid" prefix="ibooks: http://vocabulary.itunes.apple.com/rdf/ibooks/vocabulary-extensions-1.0/" xml:lang="en">
However, the exported files have the following code, which misses the xml language tags:
HTML: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:epub="http://www.idpf.org/2007/ops">
OPF: <package xmlns="http://www.idpf.org/2007/opf" version="3.0" unique-identifier="bookid" prefix="ibooks: http://vocabulary.itunes.apple.com/rdf/ibooks/vocabulary-extensions-1.0/">
This is causing a LOT of manual work for my team and turning into a big time suck. It seems like something that could be a relatively easy fix on the development side... so we'd REALLY appreciate you prioritizing it! Especially with the recent EAA guidelines for ePub accessibility, this is a critical aspect of the ePub export.

Linked images are not loading after Mac OS upgrade to Tahoe 26.2
Linked images are coming up distorted/warped after upgrading my Mac's OS to Tahoe 26.2. Can be corrected by manually relinking all the images, but what a pain. Screenshot example included.

incorrect shadow from a group of objects
If you add a shadow to a group consisting of several graphic objects and at least one text object, the shadow behaves unpredictably when you move the group. Despite the values set in the corresponding settings window, it may change direction, density, blur distance, etc.

Adobe InDesign 20.5 - InDesignEPS Import: UnmatchedMark error.
Has anyone found a fix for this error "EPS Import: UnmatchedMark error" when placing a vector into InDesign? This has been a feature between programs for as long as I can remember and it is really frustrating that so many comments tell you "not" to do this as it is bad practice. It is definitely part of my workflow and helps create smaller, cleaner files, and streamlined, accurate colour palettes.

ID2026 Export Issues
Exporting PDFs and IDML files in ID2026 is taking far longer than it does to do the same export in 2025, and I'm losing almost all of the hyperlinks on parent pages when exporting to IDML.

InDesign 2026 doesn’t remember “Show Import Options” checkbox (Mac)
In the new InDesign 2026, this issue still persists — it’s been present at least since version 2025.
When importing graphics, the Finder window opens, but InDesign no longer remembers the “Show Import Options” checkbox state. In previous versions, this preference stayed active even after restarting the application.
Now I have to check it again every time I open InDesign.

[ID-4270655] Align to Bleed issue
The Align to Bleed function works incorrectly for certain bleed situations.
If a facing-page document has an Inside bleed smaller than the other sides, (e.g Top: 1p6, Bottom: 1p6, Inside 0p, Outside 1p6) the Align to Bleed will left-align objects to this smaller bleed instead of the correct outer dimension. This does not seem to affect right-aligning.3 votesThis issue is fixed in the latest InDesign Release 21.1
Please update your version of InDesign (via the CCD app) to this latest release whenever it becomes available in your locale.

InDesign window doesn't automatically scale when switching between laptop and an external monitor, and application screen goes blank
This issue has been posted before, with no solution. Ever since one of the more recent updates to InDesign, the application window no longer automatically scales to fit the screen when connected to an external monitor and, when it's connected, the application window is blank—showing only the pasteboard color across the whole application window.
So you have to hit the "+" to expand the app window to the full screen area, close the file window, and reopen the file in order to work again.
Similarly, if you hit "Shift + W" to view Presentation Mode, the application window always re-acquires the window size from the laptop. So you have to hit "+" to expand it every time.
These are bugs that never used to be a problem ... and they take tons of micro-minutes away from my standard workflow.

[ID-4275271] Find/Replace Dialog box functionality was changed in 20.3 tabbing from Find now goes to the Special Character button
in InDesign 20.3 there was a change to the find/replace dialog box. When I tab out of the "Find what:" field it goes into "Specials characters for search" button instead of the way it used to work where it would tab into "Change to:" field.
I work on large books with data that I cannot control how it comes in and it is not connected. These books have three versions so there are three layers to work on. I need to make the same changes to all three layers. I have a rhythm, and I tend to work fast. At this point it is pure muscle memory (18 years of doing it this way) when using find and replace. Trying to remember to add an extra tab is constantly slowing me down and really frustrating me.
If you cannot change it back, PLEASE give me the option to disable it or turn the special character button off so it will bypass it. And work the way it used to. I do not use it, have never in 18 years used it and won't use it.
I was able to turn off everyone single choice in that button and even with nothing to select it still has the option to open an empty drop-down menu.
I looked at many different forums. Went through numerous settings, If I missed a way to do this I apologize and would love to know where to look.
Help me Obi-wan, you’re my only hope.
Thank you

Variable Fonts in inDesign show different hinting results when compared to other environments
InDesign v20.3.1 x64, Windows 11
It appears that inDesign is maybe not able to correctly variate CVT values, causing unexpected hinting results. It seems as though CVT values that are used depend on the variable font’s default style/source. A possible way to recreate the issue: Compare the same variable font built in the same way but with a different default source set for each. If Hair (weight: 100) is set as the default, then it will appear in inDesign as if the Regular (weight: 400) is maybe using the CVT values of the Hair. This is shown in the first screenshot. It is not possible to recreate this issue in another environment such as Chrome. You would expect the choice of default style to not have any effect on the hinting result.
Also attached is a screenshot that looks at the difference between a static and variable version of a Windows font: Segoe UI. Although this example is less valuable as it does not show as stark of a visual difference as the first screenshot and the static and variable versions are not exact matches, it stands to show a difference in variable font hinting that I found difficult to recreate in other environments outside of inDesign, possibly alluding to inDesign doing something unique with how it handles hinting in variable fonts.
The screenshot examples use 18pt size text.

leave User Workspaces ALONE
Leave User Workspaces ALONE!! Updates should automatically grab the current workspaces and copy them in, STOP trying to shove three versions of "essentials" down our throats. Not all of us have admin access, so deleting after every update isnt an option. It also stops non-admin users from migrating manually. To say this is frustrating would be an understatement.
"Essentials" is TRASH, but every **** update removes any custom ones I have (YES even if I choose migrate, it doesnt do anything so I stopped bothering) and force it into "Essentials". Just STOP. You DO NOT know our workspaces better than us. This shouldnt be difficult, but Adobe has been doing this for years, and now InDesign 2025 has THREE different Essentials? Thats missing the point entirely and then congratulating yourself for it.

Bizarre issue: footnote appearing in middle of text frame
Never seen this one before! Changing some text to a style that uses split columns caused one of the footnotes in the text frame to jump to ABOVE the styled text. I can't even understand how this is possible given the logic of the software. See screenshot. I would like my footnotes to stay at the foot of the frame, please.

Subject: Why Did You Break the Zoom Tool in InDesign?
Subject: Why Did You Break the Zoom Tool in InDesign?
Dear Adobe Team,
Can someone please explain why the Command + Space + drag-to-zoom behavior in InDesign was altered? This used to be a seamless, intuitive part of the workflow — one of those tiny things that made a big difference for power users.
Now, depending on the version or OS, it either doesn’t work, lags, or flat-out refuses to cooperate unless I perform keyboard yoga. This is not an improvement. This is disruption disguised as innovation.
I’m not asking for a new feature. I’m asking you to restore a basic function that worked perfectly well for decades. Was there truly a wave of users begging you to complicate the zoom tool?
Please bring back the classic Command + Space + drag zoom behavior. Some of us have muscle memory older than your interns.
Sincerely,
Kim Fowler

Title Case Is Not Actually Title Case
I'm editing book with over 1,000 pages. I am selecting copy, changing case to Title Case, but it just capitalizes first letter in all words. There needs to be another case option. Title case needs to be setup so it makes a "title" of a book so words like "of" are not capitalized. New option can be called First Letter Caps, and Title case can be fixed to address words that should not be capitalized in a title of a book or headline.
The Old Man and the Sea (Actual Title Case) The Old Man And The Sea(Not Title Case)
I have been going to a website to copy and paste content so it will generate correct Title Case results. Total waste of time. Please fix this!

PDF Export Page Range Defaults to Previous Settings
Adobe InDesign – PDF Export Page Range Defaults to Previous Settings
When exporting a document to PDF in Adobe InDesign, the software retains the page range from the previous export session and uses it as the default setting for the next export. This behavior can lead to unintentional partial exports if the user forgets to manually reset the page range to "All" before exporting a new document or version.
This issue disrupts workflow and increases the risk of delivering incomplete documents, particularly in environments with high output volume or multiple concurrent projects. It would be more efficient and user-friendly if InDesign automatically defaulted the page range to "All" for each new export operation, or at least provided an option in preferences to reset the range between exports.
We request Adobe to consider implementing this feature in a future update to improve usability and prevent accidental export errors.
