Selecting 'No language' from styles advanced options really exports the tag to EN in PDF
When you have a document with multiple languages and the main language isn't available in InDesign's presets, ie the document is mainly in Kirundi or Samoan and there are some English phrases, a user should be able to select 'No language' from the style's advanced options. Instead, 'No language' will export as EN and the tag in the PDF will have EN listed as the language in the tag's properties. This is problematic because the tag's language will override the document's language properties. This is a clear failure of WCAG SC 3.1.2 (language of parts).

No visable PDF comments in PDF Comments Window
ID 15.1.1, Win10
31.8.2020 The problem exist also in New-File Window: only the black window, one can see in the attachment
After importing the comments from a PDF file there is nothing in the PDF Comments Window. Although the comments are visable in main text, I cannot accept them in PDF comments windows, because I don't see them there.
I have the same problem with the main InDesign window: when no file is opened, I see only black flat, no icons of previously opened files, as it was in previous versions...

ICML export doesn't include <HyperlinkPageDestination> elements
(Affects all versions of InDesign that support ICML export)
Export the story in the attached document to ICML. Delete the story in InDesign and then re-import the ICML. The Hyperlinks panel shows "The referenced paragraph or text anchor is missing".
This is only a problem for the ICML export of internal links. Hyperlinks to pages in external documents are exported correctly. The information is also correctly stored when saved to IDML.

button value
Broken in 18.3 and 19.5: Non-ASCII text in the "Button Value" field in the "Buttons and Forms" panel fails to export to interactive PDF.
To reproduce this issue:
1) Create a radio button
2) Add non-ASCII text to the "Button Value" field
3) Export to Interactive PDF
4) Look at the mouseover tooltip and see that the Button Value has lost any glyphs beyond U+00FF.I've attached a PDF file demonstrating the issue.

23.0.3 Adobe PDF Preset / Transparency Flattener Preset "Convert Text To Outlines" Not Working
In all previous versions of Illustrator and InDesign, when saving a PDF, I have been able to set my PDF settings to convert all text to outlines by checking "Convert All Text To Outlines" in my Adobe PDF preset. Since my recent update to 23.0.3, this feature is no longer working properly. The setting is still an option, however, upon save/export of the PDF, text is not converted to outlines as it previously was.
I have reached out to customer support for this issue and have been informed that this issue is "expected behavior of the software".

2023 | Indesign 14.00 (2019) was the last known version to successfully export interactive elements to PDF
A bug with Traditon! Happy Birthday you are four years old.
That since the end of 2019, interactive animated element can no longer output, I had unfortunately recently forgotten (Earlier I had done that more often)! So: Once again I have invested time, things pretty animated, only to realize that the bug still exists!
Say: All these pretty functions are pointless and useless.
They are purely for the optics still there, chic to look at .... but unfortunately not intended for use (something I know with Adobe Illustrator for a long time). The solution Support suggested at the time was…

inDesign Form Fields are Hidden in Acrobat after Export
I created two form fields in inDesign using the Buttons and Forms panel. When I export my pdf (interactive), I cannot see the form fields. Interestingly enough, when I click "Prepare Form" in Acrobat, the form fields appear, and without doing anything, I can save the pdf and the form fields will continue to work as expected. Obviously this is much more time-consuming than if the fields were just visible by default.
My document is very simple: 1 page, a couple lines, minimal text, some hyperlinks (which all function correctly), and the two form fields.
I believe it has something…
1 voteThe way you have described the issue you are facing is pretty simple and straight-forward. You don’t need to toggle any specific setting to specify Form Fields in InDesign or view them in Acrobat. The Form Fields are visible with a light-bluish background in Acrobat. Wonder what could be causing the issue to happen for you.
Even though there doesn’t appear to be anything special in the document you are creating, could you share the same so that it can be looked at for troubleshooting?Adobe InDesign team

Idml save as/pdf export location should be relative to the location the file was opened from.
The bugs are recurring after every other update. It's really aggravating since the updates you bring to the build hardly feel like they add useful tools or new functionality. However, the bugs keep returning randomly on different updates. Your standard recurring update bugs are taking a toll on my work quality and speed because they are slowing me down. this is not justifying the monthly fee I am paying. At this point i'd be willing to pay you the monthly subscription to go home and leave the program alone.
Make a checklist of the bugs that keep coming back and…1 vote -

On Export - "Save As" name field not consistently highlighted by default
- 15.1.3 version
- Open InDesign, open file, click on a page, CMD E to export.
- Expect "SAVE AS" field highlighted to be able to change export name, as with previous versions.
- Sometimes nothing appears to be highlighted, taking hitting TAB several times to get to the "SAVE AS" field. However, sometimes it is highlighted - so this is not a consistant problem - as sometimes it does come up highlighted. It does seem that when I first open a file / export - that it is not highlighted, but after that, it does come up correctly highlighted.
This is not…

InDesign exports out incorrect pdf document when another InDesign file is open and detached from main panel
This is a weird bug that I just found. I'm using a Mac and have 3 monitors. The OS and all Adobe products are up to date. I am not using InDesign Beta. I have two separate InDesign files open and the second one is detached from the primary InDesign panel and on the other monitor. I have the primary document selected and go to File > Adobe PDF Presets > Press Quality and somehow InDesign will export out the other document that is not selected and on the other screen. I have recreated this twice with the same result.…

Adobe 2020 build 15.0.2 - loses installed fonts
When working with InDesign 2020, fonts that are installed on the system, go missing especially if I either export some pages as a PDF, or package the file. If I quit InDesign and restart, InDesign finds the fonts and I can work with the document until I do another PDF export or package the file.
I never had this problem with InDesign 2019 and earlier. It just started with InDesign 2020 and build 15.0.2.3 votes -
RGB Gray are not exported in PDF with the same values.
InDesign Version: 18.2.1 x64
When setting a gray scale in InDesign with different patches of equal R=G=B and inspecting the resulting PDF the % values are correct but when inspecting the color values in Acrobat Pro Object Inspector there are some slight differences in the R G and B components.
When doing the same in Illustrator with the same profiles and exporting settings the components are equals.1 vote -
Missing images on exporting to PDF a document with images in the header cell
Indesign 16.1
InDesign shows the document correctly. The images in the header are there (in the first and subsequent pages)
But the exported PDF lacks the images in the repeated header (see sample file)1 vote -
IDML: missing Font Style property in Character Style after export
Version: InDesign CC 2020 15.0.1
How to reproduce the bug:
1. Create a Character Style with "Bold" Font Style and apply it to a word/character range
2. Save in INDD file format
3. Export the IDML
4. Open the IDML and you will notice that the bold property for the Character Style was lostExpected result: the Character Style should be the same as in the original INDD file
Actual result: the "bold" property was lost during the export process. The INDD file is fine.
I verified that InDesign CC 2019 14.0.3 is not affected by this bug.
16 votesThe fix for this issue is now available in the latest update of InDesign – that is, InDesign 15.0.2.
Please update your InDesign application to get this fix.

PDF comments UI bug
In the panel for "pdf comments" you can set a filter to show only some types of comments. If you open this panel, all "comment type fields" are unselected – although they can all be seen in the document (screenshot 1). This is a mistake. All the fields should be selected at this point.
If you click on one or more types, only these types will be displayed in the InDesign document. Correct behavior now. (Screenshot 2)
Tested with InDesign 2026 21.1 and 2026 Prerelease 21.2

Share for Review
Share for Review and PDF export have been consistently not working. Below is a screen share of my attempting to export a PDF and share for review. I recently got a new computer. I don't know if it's an issue with syncing but it's happening with every document I open. I get notifications from time to time saying PDF won't export because of a PNG file that is misplaced but it doesn't mention what file. Imagine trying to locate the needle in a haystack.
I've closed the files, restarted inDesign, verified that it was up to date, scoured the forums,…

PDF comment zoom changes
Steps to reproduce: .When clicking through the list of PDF comments and a new entry is called there is a chance that the zoom level of the Indesign view is being changed from its original setting. Expected result: the zoom level should be kept in line with the users setting. The focus should jump to the position even when a marked area might not be visible in full in that zoom level. Actual result: Zoom level changes, sometimes even when only a full stop has been marked in the PDF comment to e.g. full page view zoom which is time…
