3. InDesign help/welcome screen

   I don't like the fact that the, what looks like a "welcome screen" always pops up after closing InDesign work page. I was told it it's a UI of the application.
   Please find a way for us to turn that off. I find it annoying and not helpful during my work day.

4. IDML export corruption

   This bug produces an IDML file with misplaced or missing elements.

   It stems from having a second master page based on another master page.

   When that second master page (based on another) is applied to a page in document, then saved as an IDML, the resulting IDML file will have misplaced or missing elements on the relative pages.

   TEMPORARY WORK-AROUND:
   While viewing the second master page (based on another), choose Override All Master Page Items from the side Pages menu. OR, simply do not base any master pages on other master pages. The resulting IDML file will look exactly like the original INDD file.

   MacOS Mojave, Version 10.14.6

5. Incopy 2020. Please fix glitch. You have to use scroll bar to click "up" through queue lists - no longer able to click list.

   Incopy 2020. Please sort unclickable queue list on northward direction. Now you have to use scroll bar to access queues "higher" up. Revert to system as in previous version? Use of scroll bar is waste of energy. Thanks

6. Color font printing in muted colors in pdf/print

   There are some issues with the rendering/printing of color-fonts (created with Fontself) in InDesign 2020. This looks like a bug because switching from pdf 1.6 to pdf 1.3 and back to 1.6 in the pdf export dialog-box solves the issue. This isn't an option in our InDesign server setup though. Are there any ideas for a workaround?

8. spelling e.g

   1. InDesign 15.0.1 x64 (for Windows 10)
   2. Check spelling in document. When InDesign comes to the term "e.g." it highlights "e.g" as misspelled. The dictionary includes "e.g." as one of the suggested corrections. If I select that option and use "change," InDesign will correct the term to "e.g.." and then will immediately rehighlight "e.g" as a misspelling.
   3. Since it already includes e.g. as an option within the dictionary, it should not flag that as a misspelling.
   4. InDesign does not include the final period as part of the term, and so it consistently flags that term as misspelled.
   5. I have attached an image.

9. InDesign freezes and then crashes

   Version: InDesign 15.0.1 x64
   Issue(s): 1. One example is that when working in InDesign and go to save a file the application shows that the icon is spinning and never seems to stop spinning. Then an error message pops up on the screen indicating some sort of issue and then the application crashes to the desktop.
   2. When opening up a file that I have been working on it takes a while to open and when it does open it opens a prior file that I was working on.
   Expected Results: 1. When saving a file I am expecting the application to save as normal and to bring me back to the application and not crash.
   2. To open the file that I requested to be opened.
   Actual Result: 1. File does not save as expected, errors out and then the application crashes.
   2. File requested to be opened opens, but opens with another file as well.
   Example: See attached Windows Event log for application crash details for issue #1.

   To identify the cause of this issue, we had started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.

   We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding : Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.

   We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.

    Palettes disappear after shutting and opening new documents

    Every time I open or shut a document, my palettes disappear. Then i have to open and reposition them over and over. This is maddening! I used to work in Adobe CS5 for the longest time and that never gave me an issue. Now that I've updated everything, InDesign is sooo slow, and shuts down all my palettes. I hate this.
    Would like to see an Indesign update that fixes the palette issue and the slowness of InDesign. Also I would like to see a mobile version of Indesign so i can work on the go.

11. Indesign link

    ndesign links all look fine in links folder. None missing. Next day when I open the file I get this message when exporting to PDF. Have to relink when already linked. Or if that doesnt work. Resave photoshop file and then appears perfect in indesign

12. Hot Keying the Text Tool has been broken for 2020 versions

    The hot key for the Text tool is broken. I've tried the steps of resetting preferences the issue still persists - ever since the 2020 updates, hot keying to the text tool is broken. The tool is selected for a mini second before going back to the selection tool or other previous tool - there are plenty of mentions on this site with very little feedback on if the issue is going to be fixed - please give the community an update.

13. Find/change for object changes fill color from what you enter

    You enter a gradient swatch and when you go to click find next, program changes it to a random gradient. Indd ver. 14.0.3. Need to quit and restart program to reset.

14. Cursor should return to starting location after find/change

    1. InDesign 15.0.1 x64 (Windows 10)
    2. I have a document with about 20 pages full of text. As I am reading through the text, I notice an error that I need to fix (such as a misspelled name, for example). I activate the the find/change dialog box and run a search and replace to change all of the misspelled names to the correct spelling. When I am finished, I click done in the Find/Change window.
    3. I may be misremembering, but it seems to me that in past versions of InDesign, when I clicked "Done" my cursor would jump back to the location where it had been when I started the find/change search.
    4. Now, when I choose the "Done" button, the cursor remains at the location of my last correction.

    As I said, I believe that the cursor returning to the original location used to be the default InDesign functionality. However, I might be misremembering. If I am, then please consider this a feedback request, not a bug.

15. Data Merge not populating correctly when placeholder curse overflow

    When using Data-Merge with an .txt/.csv and using export as pdf, indesign (still) merge the fields wrong (only use the first data-entry), if the placeholder and not the data curse an frame-overflow.

    Detailed description:
    You have a textframe with enough space to place the string "888", but not enough space to place "8888".
    You have a .csv table with a colum named "number" and values from "1" to "999".
    You select the file with data-merge and get a placeholder "<<number>>" and replace the "888" with it. Now you got a frame overflow.
    You select preview, and all values (1 - 999) shows up fine without any overflow.
    You try to export as pdf.

    You aspect: a pdf-file containing 999 pages with numbers from 1 to 999.
    You get: a pdf-file containing 999 pages all with the value 1. :-(

    Work arounds:
    1.) making the text-frame bigger, until the placeholder fits.
    2.) let data-merge generate a merged indd-file.

    Both work-arounds are no solutions! I often work with layouts where u can't choose option 1, small tickets for example. Solution 2 is a real nightmare if u work with graphics and many data-entrys.

17. ACTIVETED FONTS I work in file with the text on Gotham HTF

    ACTIVETED FONTS I work in file with the text on Gotham HTF. Book Font (original Apple) is my program for active/disactive fonts. On window (InDesign) Find Font I see that the Gotham HTF Bold is present 2 time, also Gotham HTF Book and Gotham HTF Blasck. But this problem is present only for Gotham, NO for Helvetica Neue Ltd std or ;inion or other fonts.

    Can someone tell me WHY? ... and escuse my badbad english I'm Italian ;)

18. 2020 moving pages

    If I move pages that have hyperlinks from a 2019 ID version (converted), the move crashes ID 2020. The only way to get the move to stop crashing ID 2020 is to delete all the hyperlinks in the source ID doc that was converted from ID 2019.

    Version is ID 15.0.1 ... and doing a reboot didn't fix it. I also saved the converted file as IDML to try and remove the "corruption" (that has worked in the past) and the re-constituted INDD file still crashes ID 2020.

    If I try to copy and paste a text block with links from the ID 2019 converted version, the paste also crashes ID 2020. Pasting the entire text block or pasting just the text from the converted ID 2019 text block into a new ID 2020 text block also crashes ID 2020.

    Remove the links and everything works fine. I have to recreate the links in ID 2020 to get the links back.

19. Footnotes disappear

    v. 15.0.1 x64, Windows

    I am working on a multichapter magazine.

    Every chapter starts with a title and the author’s name. After the name comes a footnote call.

    If I make changes that add or remove a page in a chapter, all the footnotes on the following chapters disappear. They can be recover by removing the asterisk and inserting it again.

    Hi,
    Part of this issue was fixed with the latest release of InDesign 15.0.1

    For all new files created with ID 15.0.1 the issue will not come. For older files opened in ID 15.0.1, you will have to resize, move or do some text editing operation to make the footnote appear

    In case you are still facing the issue in new files created post ID 15.0.0 , please share a sample file
