1. swatch / colour display bug IND 19.2 - not all swatches used are appearing in swatch panel

   New update Indesign 19.2 swatches / colours in document not all appearing in swatches panel - you've always been able to easily delete a swatch in indesign and it'll delete everywhere if, for example, you paste something from another document and it brings in a conflicting colour, without having to use "find swatch" (which is great for finding where it's used but not as fast if you don't care where it is).

   Yesterday I noticed not all swatches used are appearing however. A text box I had used a colour background that definitely isn't in swatches. I also noticed one file in RGB didn't have a swatch appearing that was CMYK although I've since noticed it in other files without that conflict (and previously you could always have both CMYK and RGB swatches in a doc).

   Also noticing some line and type display issues, lines exporting different thicknesses despite being set to the same, and text not centred vertically when I always set up my text boxes to autosize and using baseline set to cap height, with vertical justification set to align centre in text frame options, always works, now it's not displaying great when zoomed out, but exports ok, or the other way around, looks ok then exports to jpg mis-aligned. Sometimes on the same page multiple frames set the same way, some will be fine and others slightly out of alignment...

2. Safari stops rendering while InDesign is open

   macOS Sonoma 14.2.1, M1 Mac mini 16Gb

   When InDesign opens, Safari stops rendering pages. Each tab in the web browser window becomes black.

   Bonjour,
   Il serait très utile d'avoir un raccourci (bouton ou raccourci clavier) pour réaliser cette action :
   Intervertir l'emplacement de deux objets (un bloc de texte, une image, une forme...). L'objet A et B : L'objet A passe à la place de l'objet B et vise versa en cliquant sur un boutant. Ce bouton aurait tout son sens de figurer dans le volet "Alignement"

4. Imported PDF comments on graphics transferred to text on page

   1. InDesign 19.0
   2. Add Acrobat comments to placed Illustrator graphics in an exported PDF, then import the PDF to PDF Comments in the source InDesign document.
   3. One would expect a warning dialog or just unmapped comments in InDesign.
   4. Instead, InDesign tries to map the comments elsewhere on the page.
   5. Screenshot shows the example I encountered with strikethrough markup. Instead of the % signs in the graphic, InDesign wants me to delete random letters and spaces in the text.

5. Adobe must immediately prioritize the RENDER OF FILE THUMBNAIL PREVIEW of .indd file on Mac Desktop/finder

   How can a an application of visual asset creation not render a visual preview thumbnail on Mac OS Finder? This is patently absurd and frustrating beyond comprehension! Please prioritize the RENDERING OF A THUMBNAIL PREVIEW for all INDD Files on Mac OS!!

6. Gradient Panel and Color Panel missing all options

   After using InDesign 18.5 for some time the options for adjusting color in the Color Panel and Gradient Panel go away. This can be fixed by resetting the user preferences/settings (hold shift/cntrl/option/command while opening Indesign). This fix is only temporary and eventually the options disappear again. This is driving me nuts!

7. [ID-4235479] InDesign 2023 (18.0) Screen not refreshing

   Half the time or more, page down/up and zoom do not refresh the screen. Attempting to select something just draws the rectangle around nothing. Finally through a variety of erratic body movements, thrashing and random gestures, ID wakes up. This is a huge step backward from v17. Productivity severely hampered.

8. overprinting a flat white color

   I ask for a simple flag that allows any color - even white - to behave as an opaque spot color and also allows overprinting as is the case in screen printing or offset printing in special colours. This request is not a chimera, but a real need of enormous importance.

9. suggest uppercase accented characters as alternatives

   Italian keyboards with accented characters, do not have any way of typing uppercase accented characters. Consequently, when CAPS LOCK is on, all characters will be uppercase except the accented characters. When selecting an accented character, I get the suggestion to use the alternate glyph (which is often like a small caps character). It would be useful to have the choice of the uppercase version of a character among the suggested alternate glyphs. I suppose this could work both ways for all characters: uppercase should be a choice of alternate glyph for all lowercase characters, and lowercase should be a choice of alternate glyph for all uppercase characters.

10. Workspace dissapears when selecting objects

    When selecting objects with the mouse cursor or selecting text, the workspace disappears and everything becomes white. Once the process is finished, everything appears normal again.
    I use Adobe Indesign 19.1, macOS14.2.1, Apple M1 Max 32GB.

11. InDesign won't finish export IMDL file. Hangs at 38% and must force quit program.

    I can’t export to a file IMDL. The export process stops at 38% and won't finish. The problem is only with this file. Other InDesign files export to IMDL as expected. I have InDesign installed on 2 computers. One running win11 and one running win10. Same problem occurs on both machines. No errors reported on original file.

12. find/replace font dialog box freezes InDesign program

    InDesign on Mac Sonoma 14.1.2
    Select Find/Replace Font.
    Dialog box appears.
    Program freezes completely.
    Need to Force Quit InDesign.

    We have released InDesign 2025(v20.2.0.036) with many stability fixes. We recommend you upgrade to the latest version (if you’re not already using it) as it is more robust.

13. Across platform seamless real-time collaboration

    I think this issues is raised with the co-auther note, but it's slightly ambigious what's meant. Therefor I'll just restate that an option to collaborate and work seamless across workstations in the same InDesign document would be very helpful. Something similar to the Office-package in this regard would be amazing, where you can see what and where the other collaborators are editing and in what sections. It's a hassle to have multiple copies and remember to copy every edit into a masterfile in the end.

14. Actual text duplicated as Alt-text on images in a list

    When setting only actual text on images in a list, the images output with actual text but also Alt-text. This unnecessarily repeats information to assistive technology.

    When the same image with only actual text is inside a paragraph instead, the actual text (and no Alt-text) correctly outputs to the PDF.

    This happens in 19.0.1 (2024), and it happens in 2023.

15. InDesign 19: 'Search for missing links in this folder' not working

    InDesign is not finding other missing links in a folder after reorganisation. All links have to be linked individually – which is much slower than version 18.

    This happened to me after all links were reorganised after packaging, that is, they were moved from the Links folder into other folders.

    When I reverted to using the Links folder, all links were marked as Modified. 'Update all links' command did not work. Links had to be selected in the panel and updated by using the Update links button.

16. Data Merge merges only first record repeatedly

    Using InDesign for Windows v18.5.

    First of all, I TRIED to upload the InDesign file in question to this forum, and get an error message stating that uploading of InDesign files is not allowed. In an InDESIGN FORUM?

    The issue here is the failure of InDesign to properly merge records from a CSV/TXT document. I have a source document (tab-delim text) and multiple fields in the InDesign document. (I am NOT trying to place multiple records per page. It's a single record with multiple tab-delim fields per page.) When I do a preview of the merge, the preview looks perfect, all records imported and in the right place. When I try to export that same merge into a PDF file, it merges ONLY the first record of the data, repeatedly, for the entire merge. I've tried recreating the file from scratch, per other users in other forums, but that doesn't work.

    Using InDesign for Windows v18.5.

18. Red shapes appear on Indesign Pages

    • Indesign 18.3 (but problem has persisted from earlier versions)
    • Mac Book Pro with M1 Max running Ventura 13.4.1 (but problem has persisted from earlier versions)

    This bug has persisted since I upgraded to my current MacBook. When dealing with (usually large) documents, strange red shapes appear on the pages in . Zooming in or out or changing the view or Display Performance settings can get them to disappear, but they eventually return. They are not actual objects and I have not had any issues with crashes or with the resulting files. See the attached screen shot for an example of the glitch.

    When importing HEIC image files, the orientation of the picture stored in the metadata is being ignored. This is very annoying, since one has to rotate the image manually each time this is imported.

20. crash at every startup

    InDesign crashes on every startup from this computer (Win11 Intel i9 G13, 64GB RAM, nvidia RTX 3600). This bug happens in all versions of InDesign installed trough CreativeCloud (also the 4 previous versions). When I start the app trough the CreativeCloud application it starts up without issues. When I start it trough the TaskBar icon, StartMenu or by double clicking an indd file it craches. Crash information bug report attached.

    Note: My Windows user account is always elevated (admin privileges) and UAC is disabled. I tried starting up Indesign as a normal user but the salme crash happens.
