1. shortcut presets resets to default

   Several people in our team have the problem.
   That every time we restart InDesign CC23 (18.5) the shortcut set is reset to default. the saved shortcut set is still availlable but we have to select it again.

   We work on MacOS 13.6 with Apple M1 Chips.

2. align panel

   My Align panel is just blank. Some of the Align options are showing up in my top dock area, but I need the Distribute options and those are nowhere to be found. All of my software is up to date (I'm on an iMac), I've tried restarting... still nothing. This was working find just last week and a couple days ago I noticed the panel was blank.

3. Modifier l'original

   Je cherche à modifier dans Indesign, l'application qui s'ouvre par défaut lorsque je veux modifier une photo.
   Je veux que Photoshop s’ouvre et non Aperçu quand je clique sur « Modifier l’original »…
   Et éviter de passer par "Modifier avec…" qui est beaucoup trop long pour 500 photos ! Avez-vous une solution ? Merci d'avance.

4. Publish online - Play videos

   I was trying to play a video in Publish Online there are 4 buttons to play each video but every time I click on one button, it all comes out in one click.

   The links to each button seem all correct but when it comes to playing online it seems the button doesn't control the videos

5. Align to decimal tab stop behavior changes to left justified if ligatures present

   Indesign 19.5

   Create something like a manual numbered list with the first tab set as a decimal tab stop and any word in the first line that contains a ligature.. It can be as simple as "[tab]2. fi".

   Expected result is the period would align where the decimal tab stop is set. This will happen up until a ligature is introduced.

   Once a ligature is present on the first line, the decimal tab stop behaves like a left-justified tab stop instead.

6. GDI Handles

   Indesign 19.5 x64 does not cleanup GDI Handles on Windows 10 build 19045.4529, version 22H2.

   This only occurs when the feature 'Turn on Overprint Preview' is enabled, and you start scrolling. When you disable that feature, you can scroll again without the GDI Handles being hogged by Indesign. The handles rae, after the feature is disabled, not released.

   A 28 page project, and a scroll up and down trough the project, costed me almost 600 GDI handles, and when I'm at 10.000, Windows just stops serving new ones and Indesign will crash.

   Expected outcome: GDI Handles do either not increase upon scrolling within the 'Overprint preview' function, or they are released once I disable the feature.

   Currect outcome: GDI handles are held by the Indesign.exe process, up and until the 10.000 counter, with as a result that InDesign becomes unresponsive to the Operating System, debuggers cannot be attached anymore and the only option is to just kill it.

   I've recorded my steps and included screenshots of the GDI Handles counter being aggressively moving up when I'm scrolling. However, it is in a ZIP file as how Windows serves them. This is the public link to the file in my Google Drive. It will be there for a few months, then I'll remove it, so please get it before then.

7. Indesign 2024 Unable to Recognize Variable Fonts from Documents Created with Previous Version

   InDesign 2024 (v19.0) fails to recognize variable fonts from documents created in previous version. Specifically, Helvetica Now Variable weights and widths are reported as missing. Running MacOS Sonoma (but the same system opens the file without issue when using InDesign 2023… can’t be an OS issue.)

8. responsive

   InDesign is not responsive, when I open it on my Macbook pro, it gets "stuck" and does not adapt to the screen size. Plus when I click on the full screen enlargement icon it doesn't work.

9. Please Support Folder Tags for Mac OS

   Finder Tags in Mac OS are used to quickly filter documents and folders in Application dialog boxes, as well as in the finder itself. Folder tags have never worked with InDesign, despite the function being supported by other CC apps. I use folder tags all of the time to organize artwork, as well as documents. Please fix this.

10. When duplicating page(s) the layout breaks

    I'm on windows 11.
    Since updating to 19.4 i noticed that everytime i duplicate a page it moves my whole layout around. It happens not only if i alt drag the page, also if i right click duplicate and when i made an alternate layout in the page panel. It also doesn't matter if i lock a layer. Everything gets moved a little bit to the right or the left, to the top or bottom. Sometimes it also slightly scales an image i believe. The only thing i can do against it, is copy the whole spread and paste it on a new blank page, but that's really annoying, especially since it doesn't copy it to the different layers it was on.

    The first screenshot is an example of how it's supposed to look and the second how it ends up looking if i duplicate it.

11. Reading order issue when a footnote is split over to next page or column

    When a footnote split over to next page or column, the accessible PDF generated from InDesign CC 2023 has notes reading order messed up. The first note reference on the page where the portion of a note comes in from the previous page/column reads the continued note text and likewise the second note reference reads the first note and so on. Eventually the last note is read at the end regardless it's note reference. It's a serious issue because not only the reading order needs to be fixed for the last note on the page that has splitting to the next column or page but also all the notes appearing on that page where the split portion has come in will also need to be fixed manually.

    To my mind It's a critical bug that is making InDesign unusable to create accessible content and needs to be addressed on highest priority.

12. Acrobat extension for Chrome renders sheared rectangles incorrectly in PDF exported from InDesign CC 2022 / 24

    Filled sheared rectangles in PDF documents exported from InDesign are rendered incorrectly in the Adobe Acrobat extension for Chrome, but displays as expected in other PDF readers [ Preview, Safari, Quickview, etc. ]. The sheared rectangles are displayed as a box of the fill colour with the outer bounds of the sheared shape. Adding a stroke suggests the sheared rectangle is preserved, but is not honoured by the fill.

    Work around: Adding an additional anchor point, or rounding the corners, appears to correct this issue.

13. Hide Frame Edges

    I'm working on Windows 11. I'm not sure what the InDesign version is but I just bought it two days ago.

    Everything has been smooth so far but when I needed to hide the Frame Edges I met this issue. From what I found out there are two options: View > Extras > Hide Frame Edges or simply Ctrl + H

    Neither case worked.

14. UI settings greyed out

    No one EVER solves this. Those of us who work on TV monitors (for the large size) can never get the panels text (among other things) to scale up so they are legible. This causes great eyestrain and is just terrible, over all. Usually, it is suggested that I change my resolution, but I can't do that, because it would ***** up everything else on my computer, including ID. This problem has been around for about 20 years, and the folks at InDesign don't care. They have never fixed it.

15. Indesign transparency effect doesnt work when published online

    My Indesign is the newest version,19.4.
    The text transparency effect (multiply) doesn't appear in the online published version. it goes back to the solid color, not the color + multiply effect
    Preview is working fine and I had no problem when its exported to PDF

16. [ID-4245419]Auto-Sizing of text frames results in abnormally long widths

    InDesign 2023 v18.1 (Probably occurs in all versions after CS6)

    There is a terrible bug in Auto-Sizing for text frames that causes the width to become unusually long.

    Simple and reliable reproduction procedure

    1. Create a new document
    2. Set all units to points in Preferences
    3. Create a new text frame
    4. Set paragraph style to “Basic Paragraph” and clear overrides
    5. Set Auto-Sizing
       -->Change to “Height and Width” --> Click the upper left corner -->Turn on “No Line Breaks”
    6. Insert Spacing to 1 pt
    7. Corner Options to 1 pt and Round
    8. Enter “0 [Line Break]” repeatedly (about 20 times) in the text frame

    Workaround

    Set Columns
    -->Change to “Flexible Width”
    -->Set Maximum to a very large value (like 1000 pt)

18. InDesign V19.1 Updated Jan 18 2024 Bug: Double click on text frame moves the frame every time

    With the new version 19.1, every time I double click on a text box to change text, after each double click the text box is moving a tiny bit. This happens every time in any document and after a program restart.

19. Apple's Spoken Content not functioning in InDesign 19.2

    I use Apple's Spoken Content to have my Mac read my documents back to me as a way of proof reading sections at a time for continuity and structure (something no spell check provides). When I highlight text I want read aloud and hit the keyboard commands for Spoken Content, the Mac reads the actual file name of the document! If I copy and paste the text into a .indd file for InDesign 18.5.1 and repeat the steps, it works correctly and reads my text out loud. It works if I open any .indd file that is not saved in 19.2.
    PLEASE FIX THIS - accessibility for Spoken Content is a necessity for ADA users.

20. Text box (&photoBox) LAG & MOVE after clicking / editing

    When clicking on TXT box indesign freezes for about 1s then it's moving text box ON ITS OWN by few pixels (please take a look at video: 1-2s, 12-14s, 22-24s) like how is this happening??? It doesn't matter if the document is big or small, new or old - I've tried all options it's doing it every single time!!! I can't work since it;s driving me crazy FIX IT ASAP:

    Additional info:
    1. tried on multiple documents all have the same poblem
    2. new document with one txt box and some copy also have the same problem after clicking
    3. tried almost everything to get rid of that stutter and txt/photo boxes moving by thier own but nothing works and trust me I'm advanced user when it comes to software
