   When importing files from QuarkXPress into InDesign, clipping masks on placed images end up completely out of whack. See the attached screenshot and the QXD file that produced this problem when imported (and the PDF which illustrates what the correct appearance of the document should be).

2. Reaching InDesign’s limits when importing XML

   Late 2013 Mac Pro (3.5 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5, 16 GB 1866 MHz DDR3, AMD FirePro D500 3072MB, Mojave 10.14.2)

   2017 iMac Pro (2.3 GHz Intel Xeon W, 64GB 266 MHz DDR4, Radeon Pro Vega 64 16GB, Mojave 10.14.4)

   InDesign CC 2019

   Steps to reproduce the issues:
   - Create XML file (8k lines) to import copy into InDesign with tags and linking to 700+ images (343x343px, CMYK jpegs)
   - Create 74pp InDesign template 12 text boxes per page, content flowing, with 50+ paragraph and character styles
   - Expected result: Text and images flowing through text boxes, allowing editing and tidying up.
   - Actual result: After getting through some pages the software is slows down, beach-balling, the screen goes blue. 50 pages seems to be the maximum it can handle.
   - BUG: Even with very powerful Macs with massive processors, graphic cards etc. Producing a book (400+ pages) the XML and the inDesign document needs to be split in files 50pp or less.

   I can’t upload samples as files are confidential (annual international publication) and there’s too many. Happy discuss in private and transfer some packaged inDesign files and xml to private and secure location.

3. indesign canvas can not be 6500mm in CC

   can not create a canvas with 6500mm, it reverts back to 5486.4 mm

   As an industry standard software, you would expect that there is no limitations to the canvas size.

4. Lag due to "corrupt links"

   Case Number: ADB-10686986-C0K0
   Issue: Performance
   The file I am working on is part of a network located book which included 15 separate indesign documents and links to many images. Working on the file last week everything was fine, however this week when I type even a single character there is a tremendous lag (30 seconds to 2 minutes). This has affected every file in the book that I have opened this week so far.
   The adobe tech had me create a new file and "move" all the pages to that file. This resolved the lag however it also broke the relationship to the pdf comments and now they cannot be imported. The solution also will require me to import missing formats (table of contents) and manually make all edits but is still faster than working with the original file.
   Unsure why the links "became corrupt" especially when they appear fine.

   The advanced technician identified something she called "corrupted links" which she mentioned "happens sometimes" . I propose an export to new document feature since all I had to do was move the pages to a new document to fix it. Adobe should be able to figure out why the links are not ok in one document but work fine when move to a new one. The old file is the one with the issues.

5. can't export tagged pdf

   Much time has been spent setting up accessible document in InDesign - added export tagging instructions to paragraph styles, added alt text to all images and figures, anchored images and objects to text, set up reading order using articles. The document will not export to PDF when "create tagged pdf" is selected. Program crashes every time before exporting is complete. Have tried on different computers. Applications are up to date. Have tried exporting from .indd and .idml file types.

6. InDesign 14.0. freezes after opening

   After opening InDesign 14.0 I can open project. But as soon a leave first running screen with InDesign, work on 2nd Screen or even just opening explorer or browse in the internet, InDesign 14.0 is freezing. I cannot even close it. I have to restart the system. In fact I cannot work with it. I have to run 13.1 (2018) to work with ID.
   I am working with Desktop PC and Win10

   Hello All,

   Thank you for your patience all this while.
   This issue is now fixed in the latest update (Id 14.0.1) of InDesign CC.
   If you are unable to see the update notification yet, open the menu (three dots) from the top-right of Creative Cloud desktop application and click on ‘Check For App Updates’.

   Once the update button is shown against InDesign CC, click on the button to update your InDesign to Id 14.0.1 for the fix of the issue.
   Do let us know in the comments, if you face any problem with the new update.

7. Text Box Cutting off Copy with Auto Height On

   I am using version 15.0.1 but this also happens in previous versions. We use multiple paragraph styles to format our text. We have noticed in some cases, not all when we copy the text frame the text box cuts off the last line when copied. Also when you click in a text box and begin to edit the last line disappears. We use many layers and many versions so we copy the text very often, this is causing problems with missing text.

   To get our text formatted we use paragraph styles, we hit enter to go to the next style, this has always worked really well. Recently however, our style changed and they want the text to flow, not be on separate lines. We go back and delete the return to flow the text. I have also tried this same effect with nested paragraph styles, even with nested styles we get the same text box issue with the last line being cut off.

10. [Windows] InDesign/InCopy CC2018 is crashing on document close (icml file with anchored pdf file)

    InDesign/InCopy CC2018 have an issue with PDF (and probably AI) files used as anchors in text frames when the Display Performance/Vector Graphics option is set to High Resolution.

    Steps to reproduce:
    As I'm unable to attach a zip file in here (why?) here's the link to the example:

    1. Start InDesign/InCopy (with settings/cache cleared)
    2. Menu: Edit -> Preferences -> Display Performance -> Adjust View Settings -> Vector Graphics [set to: High Resolution]
    3. Open "crash-example.idml" file.
    4. Select "Update Links" in the dialog (if asked)
    5. Replace crash-example.icml file with a file found in "replace-file-1" folder
    6. Update Content of the text frame (menu -> InCopy -> Update Content or CTRL+F5)
    7. Close the file with CTRL+W (or by clicking "x" in the tab)
    8. When asked to save changes select "No"
    9. InDesign (or InCopy) crashes.

    Additional info:
    * Changing Preferences/Display Performance/Adjust View Settings/Vector Graphics to "Proxy" - the document closes without a crash (but only if the pdf was first loaded with that setting).
    * InDesign versions affected: 13.0.0, 13.1.1
    * InCopy versions affected: 13.0, 13.1.1
    * Versions not affected: 10.0, 11.0, 12.0, 14.0
    * Operating system affected: Windows

    Please provide a fix for this issue in CC2018 as it makes InDesign/InCopy unusable in some workflows.

11. Indesign performance issue : slow opening, saving, exporting files

    InDesign taking up to 5 minutes to open a file. The file is a one-page document. Two minutes of nothing, then 2 minutes of a blue status bar, then another minute watching the tiny status bar on the application icon in the doc. Once the file is "open" it isn't visible until I toggle back and forth between InDesign and another application. Saving, even after changing only one text character, takes 55 seconds. Exporting a 30 page document to PDF took 20 minutes.

    The custom baseline grid is not working at all if a table's text frame is rotated.

14. Book panel - button "Add documents" does not work properly

    Adobe InDesign, Versions 15.0.0 and 15.0.1
    Steps:
    - Open a book or an indb file, respectively, or create a book (File - New book)
    -> the book is shown in the book panel without content
    - Press button + ("Add documents") at the tool bar at the bottom
    -> the file file selection dialog is opened with label "Add documents"
    - Select an existing indd file and press button "Open"
    Expected result:
    -> The indd file is added to the book
    Actual result:
    -> The indd file is not added to the book; the file selection dialog is opened again, but selecting the file again leads not to the expected result

    (Note: I am forced to rollback to version 14.0.3 because of this issue)

    Thank you for sharing the feedback with us.
    Please note that the design axes names are provided within the font itself, therefore the translated string for these axes names cannot be displayed unless the font designer has incorporated it in the font.

    However, Adobe Illustrator explicitly translates 5 predominantly used design axes names(Weight, Width, Slant, etc.), but this does not seems appropriate for fonts having more than 5 design axes(like Amstelva Alpha which has 16 axes).

    Hence the attribute names are not translated.

16. text variable "Year>Modification Date" prematurely outputting "2020" (in 2019)

    I just updated to InDesign 2020 on 12-27-2019 and today (12-30-19) was updating some ID documents that have a text variable in the master pages (defined as Year > Modification Date), which suddenly (a few days premature!) is now showing up as 2020, even though we're still in 2019! I thought that changing it to Year > Output Date (which changes the field to show the correct 2019) was a temporary solution, but then my new PDFs output with the date field changed to 2020! ANY document I generate a new PDF from now automatically changes the date field to 2020 in the PDF, even if it still shows 2019 in the ID file.

    Do I have to live with this for just a few more days, or in 2020 will my Year variable fields all move to 2021? This is definitely a bug, since before upgrading to CC 2020, I had never had this probably occur before; the years changed when the ACTUAL year changed. Any ideas WHY this is happening now?

    (I'm on a MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017) running Catalina 10.15.1 and InDesign 15.0.1)

17. 14.03 still will not activate Adobe fonts!

18. Wrong translation of “rule” in Czech version of InDesign 2020

    Please stop using Google Translate to translate Adobe UI to Czech language.

    The new feature Column Rules is translated into Czech language as Regulations for Columns! (Pravidla pro sloupce) This is totally wrong! It should read “Linky mezi sloupci” (lines in between columns). Also the word “linie” is wrong, it is not used by designers. You should use “linka” as it is already in use in other UI dialogs in InDesign.

    Fix for this issue is now available in the latest update of InDesign 2020 – that is, InDesign 15.0.1

    In the Creative Cloud Desktop application, click on the Updates section on the left. You should be able to see the Update available for InDesign. Please update your InDesign application to this version to try out the fix.

19. When converting files to a new version, some converted files have "copy" added to the name.

    Opening a book from a previous version, with automatic doc conversion selected, causes some files to be overwritten when saved with "copy" added to the name. This nuance has caused a cascading calamity for our file management. If this function is intended, then it's execution is downright dumb. Nowhere was this pitfall mentioned when opening the files and saving them. Automatic Document conversion should be just that, automatic.     Can you confirm the version of InDesign with which you are facing the issue?
    It will be really helpful if you can share a screen recording of the workflow with us. It will give us unambiguous insight into the issue.

20. Missing Objects in Word pdf printing

    The file prints the banner and logo okay in pdf. But when I place them in Indesign 14.0.3 x64, and print them from there, two objects disappear. I'm also using Windows 7 7601 and latest Suitcase Fusion.

    It seems to happen with pdf files that are exported from Word from my clients.
