1. Show Hyperlinks

   I'm having a problem displaying hyperlinks. Absolutely nothing happens when I enable "Show Hyperlinks" in the menu. I need to highlight my hyperlinks, but the option isn't working.

2. Can't open or place files from Windows Explorer

   Updated to most recent version of InDesign (Beta) and Photoshop (Beta), and still can't open files by double-clicking in Windows Explorer. I also cannot drag-and-drop files from Explorer to either Adobe program. If I have a document open in InDesign, I can't drag-and-drop to place. The ONLY way I can open files in either InDesign or Photoshop is to use Open from the file menu. This is VERY annoying and time consuming.

4. Object Style defined to ignore Nonprinting changes Nonprinting status when applied to grouped frames

   Object Style defined to ignore Text Wrap & Other, when applied to a group of two frames where one has Nonprinting applied and the other does not, changes the Nonprinting status.

   Expected result: attributes in a category that is greyed out will be ignored, including Nonprinting.

   Actual result: Nonprinting turned off and frame prints and is visible in Overprint Preview.

   Pictured: The only intended purpose of the object style is to change position of frame. 1: The two frames are grouped. Large frame is live, small frame is note for designer. 2: The object style as defined. (By the way, the Text Wrap attributes are not listed in the style definition summary in the Object Style Options panel.) 3: After invoking the object style, the Nonprinting attribute of the small frame is now unchecked.

   The MathML module does not support Polish characters in formulas. Polish characters are displayed in a different font than the rest of the formula, which makes the entire expression visually inconsistent.

6. windows explorer crash after closing Indesign

7. [ID-4257194]page numbers on documents don't match page numbers in book window or pages pane

   Ever since InDesign updated from version 19.5 to version 20, the current page number marker on my master pages will not sync. Now, every document in my book just starts from page 1. So, in other words, every chapter starts over at page 1. Please help. I've included a screen grab of my problem. You'll see that the page numbers on the actual document don't match the page numbers indicated in the pages window or in the book window. I've redone the marker in the master pages and resynced, but no dice...

   To resolve this issue, please click on the 'Update page and section numbers' option (present in the book panel's hamburger menu) after opening any book(created in any previous version) for the first time in 20.0

8. Indesign 20.1 There is a delay in moving picture/text box

   Clicking on a text box takes about 5/6 seconds before it selects it to move it.

9. When waking from sleep, screen turns black or magenta

   InDesign 20.5 (and previous versions). Apple Mac mini M1 2020, 16GB, Sequoia 15.6 (and previous iterations of the OS). Samsung UJ590 UHD Monitor.

   Not the first time this has happened but as I’m on the latest version of ID now it’s becoming increasingly frustrating.

   When waking from sleep, in GPU Preview, my entire screen is either black or magenta and I cannot see the components of my file. If I turn on Overprint Preview the assets can be seen. If I then switch back to GPU Preview, the screen changes back to black or magenta.

   I have to quit and re-open to be able to work again. It seems to me that it's a GPU Preview issue?

10. InDesign exporting old QR code after editing URL

    InDesign is exporting an old QR code after editing the URL.

    In InDesign I can scan the QR code and it is correct. When I export to PDF, the old (incorrect) QR code is on the PDF. I can literally see the difference ,and when scanned, it goes to the OLD URL.

11. Alternate Layouts lost, names missing and out of order

    I've had a reoccuring issue of InDesign documents with multiple alternate layouts 'losing' their layout names and placements.

    I've attached a screenshot of what my alternate layouts should look like, and then again what they now look like.
    InDesign no longer sees it as an alternate layout.

    This seems to happen some time after working in a file, or re-opening a file.
    No updates have been made to InDesign between closing and re-opening these files.

    I'm on MacOS Sequoia 15.6
    Adobe InDesign 20.5

12. [ID-4256710]InDesign 20.0 is unable to open INDD files without any error or alert

    InDesign 20.0 can't open some files - they start to open and then the process is just somehow cancels and nothing happens. No error - you can try again but the files doesn't open.

    I have macOS 15.1 on a 2.4GHz 8-core Intel Core i9 macBook Pro

13. Error message "Unable to convert pdf file"

    InDesign no longer opens any pdf file. I tried plenty of times with various different files (even those that worked just fine a week ago) and nothing. It looks like some update completely messed up this function. I tried changing Acrobat's Enhanced Security and save file again I tried to re-export pdf again - nothing works. Other Adobe programms works just fine, it's just InDesign that suddenly lost its ability to open pdf

15. [ID-4255594]Hidden spreads are included in Table of Contents

    When you hide spreads, their individual page numbers change appropriately, but when you look at the table of contents and update that, the hidden pages still appear and the page numbers do not match those shown on the pages themselves.

16. [ID-4257736]InDesign hangs when placing CJK tagged text with ruby

    I'm currently using ID 2024, but I have tested other versions of ID, back to CS6, and they all have the same problem. I'm currently running Windows 11, but the problem also occurs in Windows 10.

    Steps:

    1. Install the Adobe font family, Source Han Sans TW, on your computer.
    2. Download TaggedText.zip and unzip it
    3. Open InDesign in the CJK version
    4. Create a new document with these grid attributes: Direction = Vertical; Font = Source Han Sans TW, Normal; Size = 16 pt; Vertical = Horizontal = 100%; Char Aki = 0 pt; Line Aki = 10 pt; Characters = 40; Lines = 15
    5. Go File > Place... > choose TaggedText.txt
    6. After TaggedText.txt is loaded into the "cursor" <shift-click> inside the frame

    It would be nice if InDesign would place the text and allow me to continue working with the data. Unfortunately, InDesign hangs and I have to kill it with the Task Manager.

    I'm pretty sure the problem is related to ruby in the tagged text. It is possible to place the text using the debug version of InDesign available through adobeprerelease.com which leads me to think that the tagged text is acceptable. My request is to fix the regular version of InDesign so that it can place this tagged text just like the debug version can.

    At this point InDesign is hung.

    We are experiencing a severe and persistent bug in Adobe InDesign 2024 Middle Eastern Edition (ME) where basic Right-to-Left (RTL) text properties cannot be set via ExtendScript, even though the same actions work manually through the UI.

    This issue effectively prevents any automation or workflow scripting for Farsi/Arabic content, despite using the designated ME version.

    1. Environment & Problem Summary Detail Value InDesign Version 2024 (Middle Eastern/ME Edition) Issue Scripting fails to set paragraphDirection, storyDirection, and justification to RTL values. Root Cause The ExtendScript Object Model exhibits a fundamental contradiction (a "Catch-22") when trying to set RTL properties.

    The core problem is that the application does not accept either of the two standard methods for setting an enumerated property: the string name or the numeric ID.

    1. Technical Breakdown and Error Logs The script attempts to set the properties to their RTL values (e.g., Farsi/RTL). We have confirmed the official numeric values for these properties:

    RIGHTTOLEFT_DIRECTION = 1920290924

    RIGHT_ALIGNMENT = 1852796515 (for justification workaround)

    WORLDREADYPARAGRAPHER = 1969449826

    The following errors were logged when attempting to apply the settings:

    A. Failure to Set Justification (Alignment)
    The script attempted to use the numeric value for Right Alignment as a workaround, but was rejected.

    Property Targeted: basicParagraphStyle.justification

    Value Used: 1852796515 (Right Alignment numeric value)

    Error Received: Script Alert: Invalid value for set property 'justification'. Expected Justification enumerator, but received 1852796515.

    Conclusion: The application refuses the numeric ID for justification, demanding the non-working Enum name (ParagraphAlignment.RIGHT_ALIGN).

    B. Failure to Set Paragraph Direction (The Core Issue)
    Previous tests showed that when attempting to set paragraphDirection using the numeric value, a similar error occurred:

    Property Targeted: basicParagraphStyle.paragraphDirection

    Value Used: 1920290924 (RTL Direction numeric value)

    Error Received (from earlier test): Invalid value for set property 'paragraphDirection'. Expected ParagraphDirectionOptions enumerator, but received 1920290924.

    Conclusion: The application insists on the Enum name (ParagraphDirectionOptions.RIGHTTOLEFT_DIRECTION) but simultaneously fails to recognize or accept that Enum when used in the script.

    C. Failure to Set Composer
    In earlier tests, even fundamental properties like the composer failed, suggesting a deep configuration issue:

    Property Targeted: basicParagraphStyle.composer

    Error Received (from earlier test): TextComposer is undefined

    Conclusion: This confirms a failure to recognize even basic object names for text engines.

    1. Final Conclusion and Call to Action The consistent failure across multiple RTL-specific properties, coupled with the application's rejection of both standard methods (Enums and numeric IDs), points to a critical bug in the ExtendScript API implementation of the InDesign 2024 ME edition.

    Action Required:

    Please investigate the internal mechanism that handles the conversion of Enums/Numeric IDs for RTL properties (specifically paragraphDirection, storyDirection, and justification) in the ExtendScript Object Model for InDesign ME versions.

    The bug must be patched to ensure that these properties can be reliably set using either the documented Enum names or their corresponding numeric IDs.

18. unicode devnagiri font text error in hindi text in indesign 2025, the worst /buggy indesign version

    in the newer version of indesign devnagiri font glyps are showing 0 like thing before maatra, please check screenshot, in indesign 2023 it is showing ok, there are many such bugs in indesign 2025, I think no improvement is there in this version of indesign

19. BUG - Text boxes unresponsive after accepting a Comment - it's infuriating PLEASE FIX THIS

    This has been going on for years, and I'm seriously at risk of smashing the Mac over this, IT'S DRIVING ME MAD!!

    1 - Every version since Commenting started
    2 - accept a comment and then try to type in the text box where the comment was placed
    3 - to type as normal and respond as expected
    4 - nothing. It is completely unresponsive, until you click in and out of the text box multiple times to clear whatever is stopping it from being able to type. I don't have time for this shiiiiiiii GAH!
    5 - recording of a typical annoying bug - I am trying to type, but you have to go in and out of the text box multiple times, before it works

20. Preferences reset popup penalty

    When an existing user has been driven by degrading performance to the extreme step of resetting user preferences, please do not also make us undergo the maddening experience of dealing with the ENDLESS blue popups / tooltips / ads for the features we've already seen and considered. You could make an argument for forcing a user to deal with the blue boxes on a major upgrade. A preferences reset is not the same situation. Please consider reducing the burden of this type of visual pollution in our workspaces.
