   Hyperlinks to text anchors in separate interactive pdfs not working Indesign 19.5 & 19.4.
   1. create two pages with text anchors at the top. each page has two buttons, one leading the the other pdf (see files attached) each doc exported as Interactive PDF. In abode Acrobat (or any pdf reader) when you click the button it will not open the linked document.
   This feature does work in Indesign 19.3. But I would like to be able to update to the latest versions....

2. InDesign 2025 (v20.0) is allowing me to open the same file more than once

   InDesign 2025 (v20.0) is allowing me to open 2024 v19.5 files more than once. It doesn't seem to be an issue once the file is converted from 19.5 to 20.0 but it's concerning as I edit files made previously.

3. The first letter of the Arabic text should appear correctly in the exported PDF, even when it has diacritics

   1. Version of Adobe InDesign:

   All versions of Adobe InDesign 2024 and 2025, from version 19.0 to version 20.0.
   2. Steps to Reproduce the Issue:

   Open Adobe InDesign (versions 19.0 to 20.0).
   Create a new document.
   Insert Arabic text that includes diacritics (tashkeel) on the first letter.
   Apply full justification to the text.
   Use variable text features with the Arabic text.
   Export the document to PDF for printing.
   3. Expected Result:

   The first letter of the Arabic text should appear correctly in the exported PDF, even when it has diacritics and is fully justified.
   4. Actual Result:

   The first letter disappears in the exported PDF when the text is fully justified and the first letter has diacritics.
   The issue does not appear in the InDesign preview; it only occurs after exporting to PDF.

4. Moving pages not working because of "locked" content?

   In 2025 I have a file where I am trying to copy pages into another file and I get a pop up message saying "Cannot modify elements that contain locked content, or are contained by locked content. Please unlock or check out the content and try again." This makes no sense, I have never seen this before. There is NO reason for (as it turns out) having a locked object on a page to preclude me from moving/copying that page, this is isnane.

5. Selecting text on black background doesn't highlight selection

   Version: Adobe Indesign 2025 (20.0)
   The probled occured in a file that works perfectly in Indesign 19.5. However, when I open the same file in 20.0, the error occurs.

   Problem: When I try to edit text on a black background, the selected words aren't highlighted. It happens on some pages but not all. The layers aren't locked.

   How to reproduce:
   - create a master page with a black background
   - create several pages
   - add text boxes with white text in it
   - try to select the text inside the box

   Expected result:
   - selected text is highlighted in white

   Actual result:
   - on some pages, the text highlight isn't visible (although it is actually selected)

6. Problems with punctuation when exporting Hebrew files to epub

   Using Indesign V.19.5 on a Mac OS Sequoia V15.0.1
   
   When exporting a Hebrew document the punctuations move to the beginning of the sentences. I am unable to upload this book to an online shop. Had been in touch with Adobe support in the past but the issue remains.

7. interactive rollovers

   The Latest version of Indesign (20.0) has some bugs with rollover buttons in the EPUB Interactivity preview.

   Some rollover buttons work (buttons with basic changes made in the rollover state ie font/colour).

   Some rollover buttons do not work (buttons with different images placed in each rollover state) THE ROLLOVER STATE ALWAYS SHOWS, THE NORMAL STATE NEVER SHOWS.

   The 'publish online' documents work fine, this bug ONLY occurs with the EPUB interactivity preview in Indesign.

9. Multi-character input from Indic keyboards failing

   Tested in InDesign 2023 18.5.1 and 2024 19.1, on Mac OS Ventura 13.4

   Several Indic keyboard layouts include keys that input a sequence of more than one character as a shortcut for typing the common –ra,, r–, or other syllabic forms that Unicode encodes as a sequence of multiple characters. So, for example, the Mac Sinhala keyboard assigns the following multi-character sequences to individual keys:

   [`] = ්‍ර (rakārānsaya, U+0DCA U+200D U+0DBB)

   [Shift]+[`] = ර්‍ (repaya, U+0DBB U+0DCA U+200D)

   [Shift]+[H] = ්‍ය (yansaya, U+0DCA U+200D U+0DBA)

   But in InDesign only the first character of each sequence is input, the second and third characters are not input. I have tested the same keyboards in multiple other programs, including Adobe programs such as Illustrator, and they work find everywhere except InDesign.

   I have found the same problem with Indic multi-character keys testing the Mac Hindi, Kannada, Sinhala, and Telugu keyboards, so it seems to be a general problem with keyboards that input more than one character from a single keystroke.

10. New Document Preset Bug

    When setting up a New Document, I am entering the custom width/height/margins/bleed settings I need, but as I click out of the fields, the settings revert back to the default Letter preset.

11. slowdown

    Indesign is slow on opening and closing documents. I have reset preferences, installed the app and reinstalled, disabled plugins...everything I can think of to make it better. It's almost unusable. The forums are no help, I've tried the GPU toggle and their suggestions. It just sits there. This video doesn't show the spinning beachball but I get when opening or closing documents. It has destroyed my workflow and speed. What is there to do?

12. Color Profile Warnings when copying Objects and Text within the same Document

    Mismatching color profile warnings are very helpful when copying objects between documents with different profiles, which is why this is an always-on option for me.

    However, for some time now, such warnings seem to pop up randomly when I copy text between documents with the same profile settings, and sometimes even when copying text from one text box to another within the same document.

    My understanding is that this is a bug, as live text in an INDD cannot have different profiles. Is there a way to avoid these warnings and still get them when they are necessary (copying between separate documents)?

    InDesign 19.2 on macOS 14.4 (but problem dating back several versions of app & OS)

13. Pinch gesture in macbook changes size of selected image instead of zoom

    While working on a macbook air m3, you can use the pinch gesture to zoom in and out of the page, put when you select and image in a box (orange outline) and then use the pinch gesture while your cursor is hovering over any part of the image, even parts that are out of the frame/box, it changes/transforms the size/dimensions of the image instead of zooming. While the image is still selected and you move you cursor away from the image the zoom then works.

    The attached video shows how using the the pinch gesture zooms in and out until I select the image in the box, and then it scales it instead but once the cursor is no longer over the image, goes back to zooming.

15. Text not active after clicking on pdf markup comment panel

    After clicking on the comment in the pdf comments panel, and applying the comment (or selecting the comment after auto-applying), sometimes I have to click again in the actual text frame to start typing any adjustments i need to make. It would be great if I could just type in the text frame after clicking on the comment, without having to again click in the text frame.

16. Wrong position of autocorrect

    Sometimes when a pdf markup is for a space between two words, the autocorrect creates the space in the wrong place, one character ahead of where it should be, so for example, if the markup was to the words removespace, the result would be removes pace.

17. Sharing InDesign Library files (*.indl)

    Sharing InDesign Library files (*.indl) with others on my team.

    I spoke with InDesign "folks" at the recent Adobe MAX conference in Miami, FL, and they suggested using the CC Library to share these files, but they are not allowed to be posted. This was the suggestion given to me at the conference/convention.

    I need to be able to share access to these files (I have several libraries), but if I'm using InDesign, others can't even open them, much less get the content within.

18. Guides aligned with cursor and not object

    Just updated to InDesign 2025 (v 20.0) and had to switch back to the previous version due to the smart guides functioning strangely. The guides should show up in the center or edge of the object so that I can align it properly on the page and in relation to other objects. Instead, it's producing the guidelines from wherever my cursor is when I click and drag the object. This has made it much more difficult to do simple things like center objects, since it's just centering my cursor instead. I've never had any desire to align things based on where my cursor is. I don't see an option to turn this off.

    I restarted the program and checked for updates, and there were none. I also turned off and on smart guides, which didn't help. InDesign 2024 is still functioning correctly.

19. 2025 ID - Linked Files fail and just Spin

    Mac 14.7 - ID 2025 - Docs with Linked Files (simple PDFs and Jpgs) just produce spinners and never become workable. Display set to Typical. This happens AFTER a file is saved and re-opened. When it is made all is fine, until it is closed and reopened. Have reverted to 2024.

20. version 19.5.0.84 quits on open, OS ventura 13.1

    Indesign 2024 version 19.5.0.84, OS Ventura 13.1. It will open once, but after closing the app, and opening it the second time, it flashes the InDesign 'open screen' and then quits. The only workaround found is to uninstall and reinstall. I've been doing this for 6 mos, and it's getting old. We all pay for the software to work. I've been using Adobe products for decades and it seems it's worse now. What is the fix?
