2. CC Libraries

   InDesign 16.1. CC Libraries gets stuck. I cannot select any pictures Editing is only possible again after a complete restart. After a while it gets stuck again.

3. 复合字体(fuheziti) in CHINESE INDESIGN CC 2020 & 2021

   First reported in case : ADB-18557554-K6D2

   Any one of these action will definitely CRASH InDesign:
   1. Try to create a character style using a predefined fuheziti
   2. In default mode (no page opened), try to import character/paragraph/object styles that uses fuheziti from a page.

5. no correct hyphenation of German words with dashes

   In German we have many terms consisting of two or more words with dashes in between. Everybody would hyphenate these naturally behind the dashes. InDesign is unable to do so, but suggests multiple wrong or ugly hyphenations and leaves the dashes as if they were non-breaking hyphens, which they are not! I know this problem since several years. I had it in CS5 and 6 as well as in every later version and today in InDesign 2020.
   For example: In cookbooks there are often intermediate products consisting of two or more ingredients. Some (artificial) examples:
   Das Mehl mit dem Kakaopulver, dem Backpulver und 1/4 TL Salz mischen und unter das Ei-Butter-Gemisch rühren. Die Mehl-Aprikosen-Flüssigkeit unterrühren. Die Eigelbe wie im Grundrezept beschrieben unter die Butter-Zucker-Mischung rühren. Ein Drittel Eischnee mit dem Mehl-Backpulver-Ansatz unterrühren, dann die restliche Ei-Bananen-Milch mit einem Holzkochlöffel vorsichtig unterheben.
   „Butter-Zucker-Mischung“ everybody would preferably and correctly hyphenate (\) like this: Butter-\Zucker-\Mischung, but InDesign produces only something ugly and devious like But\ter-Zu\cker-Mi\schung and so to speak considers both dashes as non-breaking hyphen. My only solution each time is manual hyphenation or an own entry in the user dictionary. The effort is too much because it happens too often.
   In German you can combine nouns arbitrarily and optionally separate them with dashes, so that the text is more clear and comprehensible. As the given combinations of nouns vary all the time it is an unnacceptable effort to define a hyphenation exception for every one of them in the user dictionary. InDesign just has to acknowledge that hyphenating directly behind the dash(es) is the first choice instead of simply wrong!
   I cannot imagine that a general rule like this would create a problem in other languages and different contexts. Hyphenation directly behind the dash(es) is always by far the most aesthetic solution.
   The problem does not only affect cookbooks. There are millions of possible cases, such as: Stephen-King-Filme, Agatha-Christie-Romane, Freund-Feind-Erkennung, Ein-Aus-Schalter, Paul-Ehrlich-Institut, Tag-Nacht-Schaltung, Willy-Brandt-Allee (along with thousands of other street names), Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität …

6. Rendering problems on second monitor

   Just updated to Illustrator 16.2.1 and discovered a bug I didn't have last week. This is reproducible even over a restart. What I'm doing: opening two documents and moving one to a second monitor to compare the layouts. MacBook Pro 2.4GHz Core i9 Radeon Pro 560X 4GB, Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536MB. When I move a window to the second monitor (the Intel card), the display first is very large (one page, as opposed to spread view). Then as soon as I scroll, the content rendering gets corrupted. It might be totally upside down; or it might smear during scroll. Scrolling top to bottom smudges; scrolling bottom to top resets. It doesn't make a difference if the window is the main work window or a separate one. Happens even with a new document and placeholder text.

7. Indesign is having difficulty reading some unsaved changes in 'doc_name'

   After update to indesign version 16.2.1.102 (macOS Catalina version 10.15.7), indesign is asking to repair document and won't save without a 'save as'. The doc can then be saved, but closing and reopening the doc results in having to go through the whole process again!

8. freezing in Indesign version 16.2.1

   Hi all

   I was working on a very important file yesterday morning using Indesign version 16.2.1 on PC window 10 and was linking images to the file when my indesign just froze. I've been having issues since where it takes for ever if at all to open any indesign file. At one stage it didn't recover my file so a message came up to ask if I wanted to recovery it....what ever option I chose I was left with Indesign unable to still function properly. (I had also renamed files incase the file was corrupt) Also noticed when force quiting the program using "Task Manager" that Adobe Notification Client - says suspended, so we don't get a crash report window) and also it always says indesign is not responding. Found in a forum about clearing the " Indesign Recovery" File area. This doesn't seem tohave helped. I also tried installing an older indesign version to see if it would not remember any setting/issues but it did the same thing.....Can you please advise what I can do to solve this as I cannot use Idesign at all currently.

9. Cross references rendered to big/wrong line break

   Text with cross references isn't rendered correctly. The line break is triggered far to early (see IDML and PNG) image.

   The line break works with the Adobe World-Ready Composers but not with the Classic Composers.

10. Hairlines/artifacts randomly appearing on screen

    1) InDesign 16.1 (and othre versions)

    2) Place an image or object. Apply a drop shadow. Pan/scroll, zoom, enable or dissable output preview

    3) Consistent rendering.

    4) Glitches of bands of light or dark pixels may appear over images, in transparencies and effects. These may come and go depending on resolution preview mode, zoom and/or if overprint preview is rendered. (The lines are similar to tiling lines in PDFx1a in that they are rendering glitches presumably caused by floating point calculations)

11. When opening up files I get an error " Missing required parameter 'from' for method 'open'.

    This started happening after I upgraded indesign. 2021
    I reinstalled the program issue still present.I uninstalled all other version of indesign and re installed after this still happens. In order to work I have to restart the machine or copy the file to my desktop.

12. Character Styles do not honor symbols

    I can not use the Find/Replace feature to globally assign a character style to a symbol (+, *, etc.). Tech Supp tells me only text can accept the character style assignment. It would be very helpful if you could fix this. I had pages of graduates to assign honors levels to using symbols and mosta of them had to be handled manually

13. Takes about 2 minutes to start up since the most recent update

    Initial boot up is terrible!. What used to take 20 seconds is now taking 2 minutes and more. I have done nothing to my computer. Please correct!

14. InDesign 16.1 menu unclickable. Always shows hour glass cursor on Windows

    Hi,

    Starting today morning I am facing issues in accessing menu items on my InDesign 2021 16.1 on Windows. The application cursor is the wait cursor mode and clicking on any menu item does not have any effect. Even keyboard can't be used to select any menu items. However, I can open a new document using "Create new" button as shown.

    I can't understand what's the issue and how to resolve. FYI, I have InDesign 2015 Release and Debug versions installed on this machine

15. Vertical lines occur on the right side of the page when exporting to JPEG

    I'm experiencing issues when exporting my INDD-file to JPEG. It seems like the export process adds a thin, black line to the right side of the document that is not supposed to be there. Worked with InDesign for many years and never experienced anything like it, must be a bug. You don't notice this effect if you'll just use the image to upload it towards a transparent background or look at it on the screen.

    However, I'm designing posters and when sending these exported JPEGS to my printing house, they will add a frame of one additional centimetre for the printing process. Then all of a sudden there's a tiny, black line coming from nowhere. I've gone through every setting I can trying to remove this but it's just impossible. Please look into this! Screenshot attached.

16. indesign crashes when inserting copied text from an external document

    indesign cc 2021 16.1

    I open an existing indesign document
    I copy text from a google doc / external file
    I insert text into existing connected text frame with the text spreading over both frames

    -> indesign crashes

    (restarting indesign did not help. restarting the mac did not help. wirting text by hand without copying works. copying text within the document works.)

19. no PDF x-3 or x-4 export

    Suddenly i cant export any X-3 or X-4 PDFs. Fields are greyed out. No possibility to set certain profiles like FOGRA39.
    Sounds like the 2 year old bug has reappeared...

20. ID will crash on awake (MacOS)

    Adobe InDesign, for the last two, three versions (current 16.2.1), will crash 100% of the time when the Mac comes back from sleep mode. I'm running MacOS 10.15.7 on two separate Macs (iMac 2020 and an over Mac Book Pro), both with plenty or RAM, and this will happen 100% of the time on both systems. I've reported this several times but when you issue a new update to "fix bugs" this one persists.
