  2. Export Interative PDF - Create Tagged PDF checkbox Bug

All my paragraph styles are set to corresponding tags (eg., H1, H2, etc.) for export options. When I export to tagged pdf, the tag names generated in PDF were paragraph style names not "Export Tagging" names.

Please look it into this and do the needful.

  3. export to PDF

    Why has the export changed?
Exporting the catalog directly from InDesign in August 2019 was 6MB.
Why, the same catalog, export Jan 2020 is 35 MB?
Everything is fine, same setting, quality, .. but the size is bigger and it is impossible to get to the original size.

  4. moire

Our cover has a smooth gray area that looks fine in InDesign, but has a moire pattern in PDF exports — even the Press Quality pdf.

    This is NOT ACCEPTABLE!

  5. Disappearing footnotes on export

Since updating to the latest major release of InDesign (14), we have been experiencing issues in one of our templates where footnotes have been disappearing from chapters (documents) in a Book when exporting the Book as a PDF.

This was not an issue in previous versions of InDesign and the template has not changed.

    Is this perhaps a bug?

  6. Cannot export a PDF to tmp folder

When I try and export a PDF to the /tmp folder I get the error "Failed to Export the PDF File" with no other information whatsoever.

Exporting to the desktop worked fine with no issues.

It does not appear to be file-dependant as I even tried creating a brand new document with a single line of text and exported using one of the presets.

    OS: macOS Mojave (10.14.3)
    ID: InDesign 15.0 & 14.0.3

  7. have to choose export folder every time

In CC2019 and before, Indesign seemed to remember, in which folder it was exporting last. So when I was in Job A, it would offer me Folder A to begin with. When I was in Job B, it would offer mit Folder B to begin with.

In CC2020 (under 10.15.1) it seems Indesign shows the last folder I was woring in. So when I am in Job A an chose Folder A by hand, then close the job and open Job B, When exporting the file would be saved in folder A. Which is quite annoying to be honest. I…

  8. Exporting PDF from InDesign to an encrypted folder fails

We have an enxrypted folder on our NAS. We use BoxCryptor to encrypt and access these documents.

When we open a document in InDesign and try to export it to the same (encrypted) folder we get an error and the PDF is not created. The error mentions the background task not being able to export.

Exporting the PDF to a different location (not encrypted folder) works OK. So I guess the encrypted folder is the cause. The worksaround is to just save the folder somewhere else, and then move it to the encrypted folder. So we can manage ;-)

    But…

  9. Image tags all grouped in their own article at the end of the tags panel

I have set up articles in multiple files InDesign 2020 (files first created in InDesign 2019 and updated to 2020 yesterday and today). When I export to PDF, all image tags are added to a new article in the bottom of the tags panel in Acrobat DC rather than in the articles that I assigned them to in InDesign. Luckily, I preserved a version of InDesign 2019 and can open them in there and export to have the tags show up in the correct place. FYI, I also made sure my layers order in InDesign is as I want it…

  11. Weight remains on text when exported to pdf even if changed to zero.

    I am using InDesign CC 2019 14.01 x64.

Once a stroke weight has been added, if you then change the stroke weight back to zero, then when you export to pdf the pdf will have a stroke weight added to the text, even though the indesign document looks correct. It may not have the original amount of weight that was added, but it will definitely have what looks to be around a .2 weight added.

However, if you were to start a new document, then add stroke weight, then click edit - undo stroke weight, then it would export to…

To identify the cause of this issue, we had started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.

We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding : Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.

We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.

If you still face this issue even after updating to the latest version of InDesign, please submit the crash report to us. (The guidelines to submit crash are available at (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html)
We seek your support in our continual effort to improve InDesign.

  13. INDD 15.0.1 can not save PDF.

INDD 15.0.1 can not save PDF.

"Fehlermeldung: dieses Dokument enthält Verknüpfungen mit Dateien/Urls, auf die nicht zugegriffen werden kann. Überprüfen sie ihre Netzwerkverbindung bzw. die ursprüngliche Inhaltsquelle."

The same INDD File on PC is possible to export to PDF - no problem.
On Mac (10.15.1) we can not export to PDF.

One Day bevore the automatic update to INDD 15.0.1. we worked normaly and PDF was possible.

  14. PDF Hyphenation Bug when line has cross-reference, hyphenated word, and option is to create Tagged PDF

When exporting an InDesign document to PDF, the hyphenated word is displayed incorrectly in the output PDF.

It only happens with a line that has cross-reference object, hyphenated word, and option is to create Tagged PDF.

InDesign 2019 (14.0.1) (MAC/PC) . Also tried it with previous versions and it has the same issue.

  15. password protection makes it impossible to watch PDF on iOS

There is a bug in exporting a protected PDF to iOS Adobe Acrobat Reader. If I put a password protection for printing, text editing and content coping in the PDF, the Acrobat Reader on iOS can't show the file. The app crashes or every (!) page needs between 4 and 7 minutes to show up. Within this 4-7 minutes the page is simply grey or white. If I export the same InDesign document without password protection, the iOS Adobe Reader shows it perfectly and normal. As a workaround I exported it without password protection, opened on the Mac in Acrobat…

  16. Accessibility and data merge

    Windows 10, ID 14.0.2 (2019), Acrobat Pro DC 2019.012.20036.
Using Data Merge to create many pages of text from a large Excel file. Each row produces two pages. I have set up all the tags, reading order, bookmarks etc for the file but they are not reproduced for subsequent pages. When testing in Acrobat, the screen reader only reads the first two pages. There are no tags or bookmarks for subsequent pages. Can this be resolved?

  17. Output intent broken in 2020

Seems that Indesign 2020 shouldn't have been released since one of the most important things is broken.

We tell our customers to use PDF/X4 to export pdf's so that we get a correct output intent profile in the pdf.
The problem is that it doesn't seem to matter what color settings I have, the output intent is always set to US Web Coated in the Output tab of the export window. So now everyone has to change the output profile manually in the output tab to the color profile setup in color settings. This is really bad and alot of…

It looks like the Synchronize Color Settings in Bridge was not syncing the color settings in InDesign. Changing the settings once again in Bridge sorted out the issue of synchronization.
Based on this information, closing the thread.
Thank you Anders for prompt back & forth communication and help in troubleshooting the glitch.

  18. Multipage PDF Export failure -Backgrond task running constantly

PDF export constantly runs as background task with zero percent progress until I force quit InDesign, delete the temp recovery file, and delete the "zero bytes" PDF that InDesign failed to genereate. If I leave it and reexport once running InDesign again it happens again. I've found it takes deleting the recovery file (.idlk) and the PDF that has zero data at the location I tried exporting to. Once I do that it seems to work. My InDesign file is multiple pages (32). Smaller page counts and data files seem to work although my InDesign file isn't that large. Once…

Need More Info  ·  amaarora responded

    Hi,
Can you please share a sample INDD file at rdubey@adobe.com with which issue is reproducible?

We tried with some custom InDesign files, but export works fine

    Thanks

  19. Wrong Swedish translation (greyscale downsampling) - very old bug!

    InDesign 15.0.1
    MacOS 10.15.2

The word "under" marked with red should say "över" not "under".
There should be three "över" "över" "över".
The English version use "above" "above" "above".
The Swedish version of Illustrator and Acrobat use "över" "över" "över".

It's a clear mistake in the translation. No debate needed.

I found the file below with Google. It's made in 2005 with InDesign CS. The same error can be seen at page 20.
    https://docendo.se/ovningsfiler/Färghantering.pdf

So it's a stupid irritating error in the Swedish translation that no-one ever bothered to fix.

Could you please just do it now?

  20. PDF Export

InDesign CC2019 / PDF Export Print (Druck)
It is no longer possible to export correctly to PDF x3 or x4; and it is no longer possible to change the export settings of colour profiles (for example to FOGRA 39 or ISO Coated etc…)
