  1. InDesign White object exports as RGB in PDF/X 2008 PDF

Not sure if this is a bug or intended but I don't think I have had this before as I have saved this file in the past for printing.

    InDesign Vers. 14.0.3

White vector object (outlined text in InDesign not Linked/Placed) is changed to an RGB object when exported as a PDF from InDesign using PDF/X 2008 No Conversion Lab Ink Manager Values for Pantones are Lab for Spots & Convert all Pantones to CMYK.

Tried a test using the Save for Print default setting and it came out fine, as well as testing the Output Color Conversion set to…

  2. Exporting to PDF with print marks increases page size

Using CC InDesign 2019 14.0.3 on a Mojave 10.14.6 MacBookPro

For some unknown reason, for the last 3 months or so every time I export a pdf with any print marks, the page size is increased by 4.4mm on every side of the page ... eg I set up a document as A4 (297x210mm) with a 3mm bleed, set my content and then export it with print marks I get a 4.4mm increase on each side of every page - ie the resulting document size is 311.8 x 224.8mm instead of 303 x 216mm

This causes major issues with submitting…

  3. Text Alignment Issues on PDF

Mac OS (Mojave version 10.14.6) 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7, Radeon Pro Vega 16 4 GB Intell UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB

InDesing CC totally up to date, uninstalled and cleaned multiple times.

When I export a PDF, both with my own settings and the default High Quality Print the text will randomly not be aligned, for example I exported the attached page 5 times with the exact same setting and sometimes it was fine but a few it was messed up. No noticeable pattern, happens when exporting Print PDF and Interactive.

  4. PDF comment two-way sync

Let InDesign sync the status of comments (resloved/unresolved/...) back to the PDF.

OR let InDesign export PDF's with unresolved comments.

  6. Accessible PDF Alternative Text Fail When Object Set to Multiply

    InDesign 14.0.2

When an object is set to "multiply" in Effects and exported to Interactive PDF, there is a Alternative Text fail reported when running Accessibility Full Check. When the "multiply" effect is removed, there is a clean report. Please fix.

Attached are both the original file (with multiply on) and the PDF generated. If you remove multiply, it works.

  7. Lines appearing around transparent objects InDesign 14.0.2 – when printed from pdf

    Hi

URGENT: Our studio is currently experiencing an issue when printing PDF's exported from InDesign 14.0.2, which contain transparent images (Tiff and Psd). Flattening objects is an alternative fix, we know, but due to the nature of our business, we need to be able to import transparent images into InDesign, and have them printed, without any issues. Printing with lines occurs both on our studio printer as well as at our litho printer.

Please could you let us know if there is a workaround for this issue – an alternative setting we can use when exporting our pdf's.

  8. Making PDFs with files that have EPS graphics is slower than previous

Since the 14.0.3 update, I've noticed that exporting PDFs that contain EPS graphics is quite slower than under the previous version. Is this able to be confirmed?

  9. Appearance of Black set to "Ouput all Blacks accurately" will produce 95% Black Text in PDF

We use the Setting "Output all Blacks accurately" in the ID Preferences.
If we output a greyscale PDF. Black text is rendered as 95% Black not as 100% as intended.

I think this constitutes as a Bug.

  10. Selecting 'No language' from styles advanced options really exports the tag to EN in PDF

When you have a document with multiple languages and the main language isn't available in InDesign's presets, ie the document is mainly in Kirundi or Samoan and there are some English phrases, a user should be able to select 'No language' from the style's advanced options. Instead, 'No language' will export as EN and the tag in the PDF will have EN listed as the language in the tag's properties. This is problematic because the tag's language will override the document's language properties. This is a clear failure of WCAG SC 3.1.2 (language of parts).

  11. hyperlink is present for imported document outside of visible cropped area

I have 1 document (doc1) placed into another (doc2). In doc2, doc1 is cropped to not include a footer, which happens to have text in the form of URL, but not explicitly set as a hyperlink in the document. When a PDF of doc2 is exported, a hyperlink is created on the page where the URL would be if it were visible. The link is in the table at the end of the Jordan row over 0.086.

  12. Interactive fields - FontSize too small when populated from Database

    Dear sir or madam,

we've updated our InDesign from Version 13.x to 14.0.2. Now we encountered a problem with our interactive fields. The fontsize in our generated interactive PDFs is extremely small when populated with values out of our database. In contrast the fontsize is normal when the interactive textboxes are filled manually inside Adobe Reader.

When we export an interactive PDF from our same source-InDesign file, the problem occurs only with the export from InDesign 14.0.2. No fields or any settings were changed.

We're using iTextSharp for populating the interactive "AcroFields".

  13. Accessibility-Tag Tree-Data Merge

ID 14.0.1, Mac Pro, Sierra 10.12.6
Tags are not in proper order in exported PDF
Using Data Merge to create many pages of text and table from large Excel file Col A-FF. Each row produces one page. The first section of the page tags are at the top of the tag tree, followed by the first section of each successive page. Then the Next tags (from the tables) are listed, again by successive pages.
To remediate, all (table) tags have to be moved to the proper page.

  14. PDF-export: Small images (icons) seem corrupt on right side when compression is on

    Indesign: 14.0.2. x64
    Acrobat: 2019.010.20100

Win 10 pro x64, 1809 up to date

So small images look strange and you can see they appear corrupt on the right side. In the last 15 years I have never experienced an issue like this so I would like to know if this is an ordinary behaviour which I ran into by chance or bad luck.

The used image is a scaled down image of a rather small photoshop-file.

At first I thought my guides might cut the images, but they don´t. I worked on the .PSD file, I increased the size of…

  15. Export to PDF crashes when Printer's Marks checked on in PDF export window menu (ID 14.02 )

Reoccurring crash from back in February 2019:
When I leave Printer's Marks unchecked, Indesign exports effortlessly.

Crashing while exporting to PDF happens with any design, regardless of the contents in the design (RGB, .ai files, etc.)

I have tested it on exporting older designs that have already been sent to print with printer's marks, prior to this issue.

Note: checking or unchecking Bleed and Slug don't interfere – only Printer's Marks do.

(I have mailed all details in the crash report.)

  16. Tabs in Arabic text move weight declaration to the wrong place

When placing an Arabic weight statement (e.g. "13g") followed by a tab and a percentage (e.g. "19%"), the weight declaration ("g" or "mg") moves to the percentage when exporting to pdf. Only when setting PDFX/1a:2001 is selected the output is correct. But this setting removes all layers and flattens transparencies so it's not very useful.
A workaround is to place a space after the tab (so on the left side since this is a right to left language).
See screen shot in attachment. On top = InDesign file, bottom = pdf created from this file using PDFX/4. The top line…

  17. Accessibility Checker fails Radio buttons and checkboxes in Adobe Acrobat

    Accessibility Checker fails:
Check boxes (Tagged form fields - Failed)
Radio buttons (Tagged annotations - Failed)
InDesign copy changes, Acrobat Reading order missing tags.

Using MacOS High Sierra V 10.13.6.

Previous files, InDesign 2018 Export Adobe PDF Interactive Passed the checker.
Duplicate the pdf and rerun the checker and it passes.

Same file open in newer version InDesign 2019 Export Adobe PDF Interactive fails. This tells me the problem is with Indesign 2019.

This is happening with all my files. If I take a new Indesign file with no interactive functions and create them in InDesign 2019 everything passes.

    Indesign…

  18. 23.0.3 Adobe PDF Preset / Transparency Flattener Preset "Convert Text To Outlines" Not Working

In all previous versions of Illustrator and InDesign, when saving a PDF, I have been able to set my PDF settings to convert all text to outlines by checking "Convert All Text To Outlines" in my Adobe PDF preset. Since my recent update to 23.0.3, this feature is no longer working properly. The setting is still an option, however, upon save/export of the PDF, text is not converted to outlines as it previously was.

I have reached out to customer support for this issue and have been informed that this issue is "expected behavior of the software".

    How is this…

  19. PDF export name

Since the latest updated InDesign doesn't remember the the export name, it just reverts back to the indd's file name. It was super useful when using version numbers.

For example, when exporting from "file.indd" a "file-print (5).pdf", it remembered that name. Now it just goes back to "file.pdf" each time.

    Using 14.0.2 x64 on Windows 10.

  20. Bad PDF Export to x1a with indd placed in InDesign

    • problem in InDesign CC2019 / macOS 10.14.3, 10.13.9
    • no problem with previous InDesign versions (on 10.13 systems)

Sometimes i use InDesign document (page) placed into another InDesign document (because more work with some pages and reuse them in more documents). If these placed Indd documents contains RGB images with transparencies (like transparency in PSD files, or transparency effects applied to flat images in InDesign), these images are exported very bad, highly desaturated. But only when export to PDF X1a (required by our printer, i use profile "ISO Coated v2 300% (ECI)" in all indd). No problem when exporting to higher…
