Rollover images "stick" in Interactive PDF
Hi, I am working on the document that contains multiple rollovers. All of them "stick" at one point or another, the images will change to "rollover" state but not to the normal state when hovering off. This is very confusing for the end-users. Please see attached pdf. I am using InDesign CC 2018.
20 votesThank you all for reporting the issue to us.
We have concluded our investigation into the issue. As per our findings, the bug belongs to Acrobat and there is little that can be done at InDesign’s end.We have already notified the concerned team, internally and they would be working on the same.
For now we are closing this thread for InDesign.

Export options locked
Hi., When customising the Workspace [ i.e. colouring menus and adding Panels to the Panel Dock ] on an Apple Mac, and then subsequently using File->Export, the Drop down list of Export formats are locked out [ i.e. I cannot go from PDF Print to any other format ]. To resolve I have to go back to one of the default Workspaces such as Essentials etc, and then the Dropdown can be accessed. This happens in all recent releases of InDesign including 2019. I imagine the root cause of the fault is more the colouring of the menus rather than…

pdf
Since the last update Indesign export to pdf in all resolutions don't compact the files down. They are huge. Everything up to the last update pdfs even if high resolution would size way down. Now it is almost like it doesn't do anything. Need this fixed. It is almost like the coders for Illustrator went over to Indesign to put in their bad pdf export routine. Illustrator has never compacted pdfs well ever!. I demand that the pdf export get fixed pronto and put back the way it was. Sending pdfs by email is now useless. I shouldn't have to…

Accessible PDF Exported from ID contains SPANS in Reading Order panel
InDesign Version: 13.1
To reproduce issue, create an InDesign document with some styles, map styles to tags and export to PDF with tags (accessible pdf).
Expected result is that in the Reading Order panel (and Content pane), each paragraph is wrapped in an appropriate container.
The actual result is that each line of text within a paragraph is wrapped in a span container.
Although this doesn't seem to directly affect the accessibility of the file, it makes additional remediation difficult because of the many containers found in the PDF file.

We acknowledge that the issue is slowing you down and we regret the same.

The problem has been communicated to the relevant team.
In the meanwhile we are closing this thread for InDesign.Regards,

Export PDF causes unresponsiveness when clicking "same as Document Name" box and changing the filename manually
InDesign freezes and becomes unresponsive when...
Using the latest version of InDesign 14.0.1 on macOS Mojave 10.14.3 and exporting a press ready PDF (setting modified to include bleed and crop marks), checking "Using InDesign Document Name as the Output Filename" and then adding some text or changing the filename manually in the save dialog, InDesign freezes afterwards. The PDF is exported successfully, but the program locks up.
When not checking the box and exporting a PDF there are no problems.

InDesign exporting wrong PDF size
Jan. 18, 2019
My document settings in InDesign are 3.66x8.5.
When I export to any type of PDF it shows as being 4x9
No bleed, no slug. I know sometimes the numbers are rounded up when you look at the size on a PDF but this is odd. When I do a test with a document size of 3x8 I'm still getting a 4x9.

Images with transperencies and placed in formular fields are separeted wrong when exported as PDF.
PNGs and PSDs with transparency and directly imported in an InDesign formular field are separeted wrong when exported as a PDF and separeted to cmyk. The images are too dark with a green tone.
This happens in the last InDesign versions til the last CC2019 (14.01).

InDesign performance issue: Hangs when exporting to PDF
- Latest Indesign CC, Windows 10
- ID would sometimes not finish the export to PDF task and hangs for minutes. It must then be killed in the task manager. During this it constantly consumes a big lot of RAM and CPU power. See attachment.

PDF export - massive file size difference between 143 and 144 dpi
I've been exporting a couple of display stand artwork pieces from inDesign cc19. My background flattened jpeg in the inDesign document is 200dp and the rest is a few vector objectsi. I export using the PDFX1a:2001 spec as this is what the printer requested. By default the file size for 1.07GB, which is huge. I adjusted the downsampling on export and found that setting it 143dpi produces a 15.3MB PDF, yet changing it 144dpi makes the file hundreds of MBs. So 1 dpi changes drastically how big the PDF output file size is. Why is this?

PDF Export Formatting Issue
I found that no matter what export options I use or how I format my file, it exports incorrectly. My content is in 2 columns on InDesign but when exported it seems pretty random how the PDF is structured (see the image).
This poses a problem for parsing software to be able to read the document in the correct order. It's common practice within most companies to use this for resumes. I'm sure it's also used elsewhere as well.
I've contacted support and they tried to resolve the issue by using my computer remotely. They found that this feature is…

cc 2019 Book (.indb) Export to uncompressed PDF creating low-res PDFs
Twice this week, I've had a problem using Books (.indb) with cc 2019. When exporting with no compression, 300 dpi images are compressing down to 33 dpi.
The only solution I've found is going back to cc 2018.

Cannot export pdf from Adobe InDesign. Latest version. Latest Mac OS. Hasn't worked since September 2018.
I am beyond frustrated with Adobe. I cannot export a pdf from Adobe InDesign either conventionally nor when publishing online. I am running the Latest version. Latest Mac OS. Exporting hasn't worked since September 2018. This is debilitating to my business. I need a solution and not a workaround, please.

A few of pages are generated as the empty page in the exported PDF file from time to time
When I try to generate my INDD file to PDF via the Export to PDF function of InDesign, a few of pages are generated as the empty page.
. This happens from time to time (not always), even though I perform it with same file. (For example, if I retry to generate the PDF file without any amendment in the INDD file, this problem is fixed.)
. Here, "empty page" means that all object is not shown on those pages - doesn't mean that the objects moves to the next pages.
. I am using 11.4.1.102 x64 build with Windows…1 vote -
booklet
Hi there, I have a problem too with my exported PDF out of PS when printing a booklet. No matter what settings I run the PDF will come out in portrait aspect ratio and not in landscape when I print as DEVICE INDEPENDENT. Mine is a booklet half Letter, classic 2 staples in the fold (5 pages front & back, 4cl.). I can print it 8.5''x11'' but not with bleed and crop marks. Any idea why, please? Thank you! (This problem was not in 2018 version).

InDesign produces 'failed to open the pdf file' error when importing pdf with dotted lines
Using InDesign v13.1 on a MacBook Air (12 inch, 2017) running iOS 10.13, importing a .pdf generated using attached MS Powerpoint file LA02examplerunFigure.pptx resulted in 'failed to open the pdf file' error if the lines added to the graphic are dotted lines as shown (see attachment). Changing these lines to solid lines before exporting to .pdf solved this (see 'LA02examplerunFigure(noDotted).pptx). Upon experimentation, addition of any dotted line to the graphic in Powerpoint results in this error when the file is exported to a .pdf and imported to InDesign.

Using text variables causes highlighting text in PDF to be inconsistent/scrumbled
When exporting to PDF from a file including text variables, it results in text in pdf that it is impossible to highlight correctly. and therefore - it is impossible to mark PDF comments on it. Screenshot and PDF files are attached.
It only happened with ARIAL font, and only in certain book files (that were created in previous ID version). I couldn't recreate the bug in another file.
When I removed the text variables the PDF was exported fine.
I also had another kind of conditional text I made in these files - it was a sentence written inside the…1 vote -
Tabs in Arabic text move weight declaration to the wrong place
When placing an Arabic weight statement (e.g. "13g") followed by a tab and a percentage (e.g. "19%"), the weight declaration ("g" or "mg") moves to the percentage when exporting to pdf. Only when setting PDFX/1a:2001 is selected the output is correct. But this setting removes all layers and flattens transparencies so it's not very useful.
A workaround is to place a space after the tab (so on the left side since this is a right to left language).
See screen shot in attachment. On top = InDesign file, bottom = pdf created from this file using PDFX/4. The top line…1 vote -
Export defaults are not sticky anymore after update
When you hit Ctrl+E it used to use the last [pdf] export profile that had been used, but now it's always 'Adobe (Interactive) PDF' now. Might sound like a minor issue, but when you have to go through lots of pages one by one it just a massive waste of time going each time through File-Adobe PDF Presets-Needed One (using mouse).
Can't see where it can be backed? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Henry
p.s. Thought it could be resolved through Keyboard shortcut, but apparently you can't make it for a specific preset, and Ctrl+E [as mentioned] is not "sticky" anymore
