Conditional rows and columns in tables.
I really miss the possibility to hide/show table rows and columns based on a condition. It would work exactly like conditional text that is already available in InDesign. You would select a table row or column and apply a condition.

dimensions lines, lines to show size between points
It would be nice nice to have a line tool or a text box that you can link to a line that shows the height or width of a line so you can create easy dimensions lines for products as we oftun need to provide dimentions and sometime they change so you need to change the text box value each time as well.
It should be CAD style feature please see reference image

Traditional Book Focus
I write long traditional books with hundreds of black and white text pages. Adobe's focus as a graphics company may be why it misses some important issues for people like me. Editing hundreds of pages of text and incorporating feedback is extremely difficult.
To accomplish this I have to get the full layout correct with many chapters all in individual files and then create a PDF version of the book. of course, when viewed two up the pages don' align properly if I don't insert a blank page as the first page using DC. Simple fix, give me a proofing…

Endnote text should appear in galley and story views in InCopy
They could work the same way that footnotes do, inside of a stylised bracket at the location of the note marker.

A more efficient indexing system for book files.
A more efficient indexing system for book files would be ideal. Also, when using the Index window, it would be great if the window could stay open and allow me to continue entering words. If I don't select desired text, enter index reference, "add all," then close the window, it doesn't populate correctly.
It would be ideal for me to keep the window open, enter desired text (without selecting in the file), click "add all," then continue with more entries .4 votes -
Find/Change "negatively" on a paragraph/character/object property (i.e., look for a style set to anything BUT 13pt)
It would be nice if find/change had to ability to search for everything BUT something. For example, if I had a style named "text" where the leading was defined as 13pt but I wanted to only find instances where the leading was NOT set the 13pt because of some local override. But these overrides might be 14pt or 15pt, but that would required 2 or more separate searches. I don't necessarily know how many paragraphs have been locally overridden from the set 13 unless I page through and look for each paragraph by sight. I realize the local…

Embedded Object Styles
I would find it helpful for inCopy files with an embedded Object to use the documents Object Styles.
At the moment I am creating bios, each bio requires a headshot. I have created a basic text box in InDesign into which I have embedded a small graphic frame to which I have assigned the Object Style "Headshot Box". Once this is created I open InCopy, place in the persons bio copy. Import the file into InDesign, edit it and place the relevant headshot in the "Headshot Box". I can then edit the Paragraph Style and Character Style, however to edit…2 votes -
Display progress bar for long operations
When working with a big document, there are many operations that take a very long time. For example, generating a TOC, deleting pages that cause text to reflow, etc. Tasks that happen almost instantly with reasonably sized documents can take many minutes when we get into 500+ pgs.
Currently we only see a spinning beachball (mac) when we get stuck in a long task. There's no way to determine whether it's just going to take a long time, or if indesign is completely locked up. The system sees it as "application not responding," but a lot of times patience pays…

Please give the option to remove the "home" bar (the one with the house on it)
In indesign, there is currently no way I can find to remove this bar that wants to live at the very top of my screen. I don't use it, it takes up valuable space and it has no purpose (at least for me). I want the option to turn it off, just like I can turn off the frame (which I don't use either). thank you
ps adobe support told me to post here for the issue.3 votes -

Possibility of defining several alternative Font Styles in one Character Style
Possibility of defining several alternative Font Styles in one Character Style.
E.g. Character Style: Italic
Font Style: Regular Italic OR RegularItalic OR Italic OR ItalicRegular OR Italic RegularCurrently working with two families of fonts, one of which has italic defined as Italic and the other as Regular Italic, this is impossible. You have to define two character styles and search the whole text.

Character Style contestual to Paragraph Style
Suppose you have a text, for example an introduction, with some word (i.e. titles) in Italic in it. Now you decide that this text must be in Italic. So, all the titles in it that were in Italic must be in plain.
In CSS this is easy to do; you'll have something like span.title { font-style: italic; } with the variant p.intro span.title { font-style: normal; }.
I think it's a necessity quite frequent. In other similar scenario you may have to use different colors, different weights.4 votes -
Gradient Angle should be saved in Swatches
Colour gradients can only be saved linearly without angles.
It would be nice if the angle could also be saved in the colour gradient, especially for texts and lines.38 votes -
Please add the possibility to create the page height below 73px.
Especially for the design of web banners sometimes a smaller page height is important.
Despite frame distances of 0px and web setting an error message appears with a page height of 72px or lower.1 vote -
Linked Docs: Seeing where the children of a linked item is from the parent document
File A is linked to B, C, D, and E (the children)
I want to see that information while looking at file A (the parent).Currently, we can only see the link path when the child is selected.
Example: I have used the content placer to link a block of text into 4 documents. I want to see which 4 documents that block of text is linked to while in the parent document. That way I can quickly navigate to those 4 documents rather than searching through hundreds to sync up any updates later.

Choose page number when inserting a PDF
When inserting a pdf into a frame box, it would be nice to be able to select which page number you'd like to insert (with a preview). Similar to when you open a PDF in illustrator.

Color-code GREP styles
Hello, InDesign team.
Please consider allowing users to assign a color to each GREP style, which would be applied as a highlight to text affected by the style. The highlight would, of course, be on-screen only, like the existing highlights for composition problems etc. This would be a quick way to ensure that the style is matching the correct text, without doing what I do now (which is to manually add a color highlight into the definition of each GREP style and then remove them later). Especially helpful for GREP styles whose effect is subtle. Characters affected by multiple…

Export correct unicode spaces to epub/html
Logging this as a new feature, but it could also be a bug? Also logging this under "EPUB" since thats most important to me, but it also affects "HTML"
Currently the only space characters exported by InDesign are the regular space and the non breaking space. All others are converted to regular spaces on export. These spaces should be retained in the epub, since they are supported by reading systems and in many cases it is typographically incorrect to use regular spaces.
Spaces with direct Unicode mappings:
Normal Space U+0020
Nonbreaking Space U+00A0Em Space U+2003
En Space U+2002
