1. If you group paths, the shadow rotates with the path.

   Problem with InDesign version 2026: The shadow in InDesign rotates with the path. The problem is that sometimes you want to be able to rotate a series of paths, even complex structures, but the shadow doesn't rotate with the path. This is a problem. The only solution is to avoid using the shadow tool. You can create shadows alternatively with other paths, or you can have to re-edit all the shadows once the paths have been rotated. As far as I'm concerned, this is crazy. At least make sure that if the paths are grouped, this problem doesn't occur!

2. Please provide interface scaling as in Illustrator and Photoshop.

   Please provide interface scaling as in Illustrator and Photoshop. On a Mac / Retina display the panels and type is too small to read. Will not work to set the whole system to scaled as I go back and forth from Illustrator and PSD to Indesign, making it even more difficult to use. Thank you.

3. Resize Frames & Objects to Preset Aspect Ratios & Sizes

   It would be great to have a feature where a placed graphic, text frame or object could be quickly resized using the contextual menus to a choice of standard aspect ratios (4:3, 16:9 etc..) there would need to be options to crop, resize content proportionally etc.. Add the ability to add your own user ratios and physical size dimensions like the Photoshop crop tool and it would be very powerful.

   For example: it would be pretty slick if users could drop a 5:7 image onto their page and then right click to quickly crop to 16:9.

4. clipping path select subject

   Detect edges is way out of date. This should/could be replaced with the same sort of programing that the current Text runaround tool uses (select subject) this would give designers a ton more speed to get designs done rather than needing to go back and forth to Photoshop to create clipping paths. Currently want this mostly for the mock up stage of my design files but if the paths are good enough i don't see why they couldn't wind up being used in final production. This would save loads of time... Especially if it was object aware and could create multiple paths to choose from.

5. Fix "Analytics" on Publish Online

   The company I work for creates ebooks and then updates it by request of the clients. The links can't be changed as people use them in their communication so we have to update the ebooks instead of uploading new ones. By doing this we're unfortunately resetting all the analytics for the ebook. Trying to get the analytics with a delay of "approximately 90 minutes" is a joke in itself. So if I need to update a document I can't wait 90 minutes to eventually see the analytics and then save them somewhere. I suggest fixing this and turning it into a professional analytics tool.

7. Paragraph shading with rounded corners

   Paragraph shading is very useful, but for some reason clients always seem to want to have rounded corners on boxes/panels :)

   If we could have rounded corners that we can define the radius of this would give a lot more flexibility for layout. Paragraph shading works inside table cells too so this would open up a lot of possibilities for table styles.

8. See Page Content Order and Structure Types (as in Acrobat) in InDesign

   The InDesign/Acrobat accessible PDF workflow is a nightmare. Fixing reading order and tags in Acrobat is one particularly frustrating aspect of that nightmare.

   It would be very helpful – and a major time-saver because of these issues in Acrobat – to be able to see Page Content Order and Structure Types, as displayed in Acrobat when the Reading Order tool is active, in InDesign so that issues can be resolved BEFORE export to interactive PDF.

   A much more productive solution would be to have live updates in Acrobat as changes are made in InDesign. I'd be seriously impressed if you could get that to work. Forget rubbish AI-generated cartoons and concentrate on more practical issues, please. Improvements in the InDesign/Acrobat accessible PDF workflow are long, long, long overdue.

9. Pop window note

   I work within teams that open and close ID files. The existing noting and share for review is just too slow and complex for the majority of the work we do. It would be absolutely amazing if you could save a simple twitter style small note when saving. So when the next person that opens the file can read it as soon as it pops up on open and can either choose to keep it / ignore or dismiss the note. Which will get rid of it. And you can only save one note to the saved file which will open. This would be extremely small and useful tool if you work in fast paced and teams that are in a chain.

10. Package convert images to specific format

    For architects, urban designers, and artists, InDesign has become an essential tool. However, our needs differ from those of graphic designers, introducing unique challenges. We often maintain specific folder structures for original files, repurposing them for various mediums - be it print, websites, or emails. For instance, when delivering a poster, it's inefficient to include large PSD images in both the 'links' folder and another location. Notably, for academic submissions, recipients often don't require layered files; they need images suitable for websites, emails, etc. Considering that most competition or submission layouts remain static after submission, a "convert images to a specific format when packaging" feature would be a game changer. It would simplify archiving and accurately preserve the design's current status.

11. Provide an option for placing multipage PDFs where the number of pages imported into the InDesign document is variable.

    1. When I use the PlaceMultipagePDF.jsx script, the number of pages imported is static based on the number of pages in the PDF being imported at the time. However, if pages are added to the PDF being imported, then when I reopen the InDesign file, I only see the original number of pages and not the additional pages that were added to the imported PDF.

    2. The PlaceMultipagePDF script is a valuable automation tool for recurring reports with regular updates. However, I lose all this automation if the number of pages in the imported PDF changes. In those cases, I have to re-place all the imported pages and redo all the work of placing that I did the previous cycle.

12. It is recommended that “GREP”, “Shortcuts”, “PDF preset templates” in the directory can be quoted in the directory shortcuts.

    Just as I can copy the shortcut to my script directory (D:\myscript) to the InDesign script directory (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign 2024\Scripts\Scripts Panel\Samples), I can use my existing scripts without having to copy them to this location. I can use the existing scripts without copying them to this location.
    Just copy “myscipt.lnk” to Samples.

    For example, these locations, of course it would be nice to add these to the preferences to be able to import and export, that would be more convenient.
    The benefit of course, is that you don't have to worry about losing these files, because it's just shortcuts to the directories that are referenced.

13. Indesign CJK Version Request : Standard Vertical Roman Alignment

    Please add the simple feature of standard vertical roman alignment in adobe indesign CJK version as well.

    In all the other versions of Indesign, and also in other basic applications like the photoshop or illustrator, there is an option to vertically align roman alphabets. However, in the CJK version, the vertical writing tool only provides the option to typeset the roman alphabets and numbers in a 90 degree rotated way.

    If I wanted to write them vertically without having to rotate it, I have to manually do so in Character settings, but that is not a good option since the vertical kerning setting would not be applied, and would be forced rotated. 14. "Select All Unused Stroke Styles" option for stroke style deletion

    Give us an option to "select all unused Stroke Styles" so that we can delete them. This feature is already offered in other panels: object styles, paragraph styles, colors. Currently there is no way to clean up stroke styles without selecting each individual stroke to see which stroke style is applied. selecting all unused stroke styles and deleting them all at once would save a tremendous amount of time, cause less confusion when applying styles, and help keep things tidy. 15. Organize styles (any type: paragraph, character, objects, ...) like a PRO

    How WONDERFULL would be to have the possibility of AUTOMATICALLY order styles. How? I wish InDesign would assign automatic cascading numbering to folders and the paragraph styles that it contains.

    The idea would be that each generated folder would have an automatic number (based on its order in the window): 01, 02, 03, ...; and the paragraph styles within that folder would have that same numbering: 01.00, 02.00, 03.00, ...
    When adding subfolders to the main folder, the numbering would continue: 01.01., 01.02., 01.03, ...; and the styles within those subfolders would also have that numbering.

    I've been doing this manually for years, and having this option automatically would save me hours of work. The best part: if I want to change the order and move a folder up or down every folder and number within will change automatically too.

    I know it might sound like I'm being obsessive about organization, but it would be a VERY USEFUL tool for keeping styles tidy.

16. If Adobe could do a spreadsheet application

    This is not a specific feature request, but more a general idea about Adobe doing a spreadsheet application.
    Think about using functionality in Illustrator and InDesignTo be able to draw new sheets in threaded “Spreadsheet boxes” and “Cell boxes”, using layers for calculations/functions/data as well as text/graphic assets, writing functions and formulas in native language, using any graphics assets for conditional formatting and diagrams, place files in InDesign with full compatibility, advanced text formatting in Text Boxes nested with “Spreadsheet boxes”, tear-away panels.

17. Prioritize Adobe Photoshop in “Edit With” context menu

    Currently, InDesign relies exclusively on the operating system’s default application associations when generating the Right-click → Edit With menu for linked images. As a result, users often see irrelevant applications such as Microsoft Edge, Word, or generic photo viewers, while Adobe Photoshop (the natural and professional tool for image editing) does not appear by default.

    This workflow inconsistency is counterintuitive for professional users:

    InDesign is part of the Adobe Creative Cloud ecosystem.

    Photoshop is the industry-standard editor for images.

    Most users expect seamless integration between InDesign and Photoshop, without having to manually browse for Photoshop each time.

    Suggested improvement:
    InDesign should detect the presence of Adobe Photoshop on the system and always prioritize it at the top of the “Edit With” menu for supported image formats (JPG, PNG, TIFF, PSD, etc.). This would align with user expectations and the logic of Adobe’s integrated workflow.

    This change would save time, reduce confusion, and strengthen the cross-app consistency that Creative Cloud users rely on.

18. DATA MERGE - Multiple or Single Page Import from Ai or PDF

    I would like to be able to import multiple artboards or pages from an Illustrator file or PDF document when using Data Merge.

    For example:

    Column K
    @Images
    R:\Customer\SALES ORDERS\SOnumber\Working\01-0001.ai:1 ( Design to be printed in Artboard 1 )

    Column L
    @Images
    R:\Customer\SALES ORDERS\SOnumber\Working\01-0001.ai:2 ( Spot colours listed in Artboard 2 )

    I use Data Merge for creating Prepress proofs for large orders, and we have to show the design to be printed and the spot colours used on each document.

    The issue is that InDesign won't list the colours used per page only per document, so my solution is to create a color list using the new " Create Swatch Info " introduced to Illustrator.

    My limitation is that adobe Indesign only imports the first page of the document listed in the @Images column

    This would be such a time saver for me.

    ( Top Is where my image gets placed, bottom is where we list the colours and it would be much faster if it came from illustrator if each document has different spot colours using the create swatch info tool )

    PS. I have thought about saving a second ai file with the spot list only but that will just take as much time as copying and pasting from AI to Indd.

    I would like to be able to import multiple artboards or pages from an Illustrator file or PDF document when using Data Merge.

    @Images

    I use Data Merge for creating Prepress proofs for large orders, and we have to show the design to be printed and the spot colours used on each document.

19. User Interface Ideas for newbies

    I think a good change for newer users is to make it to where the user interface is more user-friendly. I don't mean the whole app I just mean certain things. For example, one thing would be, is to make the options panels easier to stick. I didn't know that you had to drag the box to one side of the screen to get it to stick to the app. It took me the whole day to figure this out, otherwise, when you move the InDesign app to another screen those panels get left behind. So either have a little help box when moving the tabs called "sticking problem?" and have a small explanation or have the light blue sticking indicator be triggered inches before you reach the edge of the screen and obviously, you'll have to test it out though.

    Put the "paragraph style" tab default on the paragraph tab. It's not there when I installed it, so I had to highlight something and in the properties and then I had to click the down arrow and click manage styles and poof there it was.

    Another fix is to keep the options bar at the top when under the essential workspace. I would watch tutorials where they had this at the top and would this couldn't figure out how to make it work. An hour later I found a video that told me how to fix it. I'm new to this app but it would make sense that the essential workspace having it and the classic essentials would not but they are a switch. just add the option to the essential workspace that would be my fix. I'm sure there are more improvements but I haven't run into them yet
    finally put on all your app, an ok box when either user first installs an or get an updated, stating that there's help for the user. And it would say instead of going to google or youtube that there are adobe cloud tutorials ready to go just for the user. :D. I didn't know this until I called customer support to help me with an issue.

20. Place and Link to user to work without having to map new styles

    To the InDesign Product Team,

    I am writing to provide feedback on the Place and Link (Content Collector) workflow. While the ability to sync text content across a document is invaluable, the current implementation of the "Parent-Child" relationship is overly restrictive and creates significant manual rework for designers.

    The Problem: Currently, when a Parent object is updated, the Child object frequently reverts its font size, frame dimensions, and character treatment to match the Parent—even when "Preserve Local Overrides" is enabled. While "Style Mapping" exists as a workaround, it is an overly complex solution for a simple design need: keeping the words synced while keeping the design independent.

    The Proposed Solution: I request a more intuitive "Link Options" toggle that allows a Child object to permanently lock its local formatting. Specifically:

    Content-Only Sync: A high-level checkbox that tells the Child to only accept string (text) updates, ignoring all Parent-side attributes like point size, leading, tracking, and color.
    
    Geometry Independence: An option to decouple the frame's scale and dimensions from the Parent permanently, without needing to dive into complex sub-menus.
    
    One-Click "Stay as I Am": A simplified "Link Options" dialog where "Preserve Local Overrides" actually functions as a master lock for all visual attributes, rather than being overridden by "Update Appearance" or "Update Styles" flags.
    

    The "Place and Link" tool should function as a content-management bridge, not a formatting mirror. Designers need the flexibility to use the same text in a large headline (Parent) and a small sidebar (Child) without the software constantly fighting their layout decisions.
