  1. Fully support Metric units of measure for ALL Adobe applications!

ALL Adobe products should allow type sizes to be specified using Metric units of measure instead of Imperial units of measure. This would avoid errors from converting between two different units of measure.

This website (https://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/metric-typo/) also recommends the use of a publishing 'metric point' equivalent to .25 mm because it corresponds to the dot pitch of many computer monitors.

There is also a unit of measure called the English Metric Unit that is equal to 914400, which would make it easier for your programmers to convert between Imperial and Metric units of measure. Please see http://polymathprogrammer.com/2009/10/22/english-metric-units-and-open-xml/

The progress can already be seen in the Background Tasks panel in InDesign.
We can also see the progress on the Top bar of InDesign.

    Thanks
    Javed

  3. Allow for an export with restrictions to have multiple changes allowed

When you export a pdf from InDesign, and you select the option to restrict editing with a password, it would be super helpful to have more than one option available under the 'changes allowed' .... for instance, if I want the pdf to be filled out AND allow for deleting of pages, I cannot do that. It would be great it you could chose as many of those options as possible upon exporting with a password.

  4. Add Button Functionality for the Ability to Toggle Conditional Formating Layers

It would be amazing to be able to toggle the layers under conditional formatting with Buttons. We have an Instructor Guide and a Participant Guide in the same document and the customer wants everything in the same document. Then the learner or teacher would be able to toggle the text with a button in an interactive PDF.

  5. Add scrolling feature to Publish Online

I create decks for brands and companies, and we often need to use interactive elements like videos and gifs — so we need to publish them online.

Because of smartphones, the design of most websites now, and the way people read PDFs in 'Reader', people expect to be able to scroll rather than clicking left and right.

I'm having a lot of requests now to create documents in non-adobe programmes, like Readymag — purely because they offer scrolling.

My contemporaries are having the same.

I hope this would be a small fix for Adobe, because it would make a…

  6. Make table cells clickable instead of just the content.

Make the table cells clickable for Interactive PDF. Currently only the content inside of a table cell is clickable so it doesn't work as a button.

  7. Conversion of Text Encoding

    1. InDesign is missing a built-in function to convert different Chinese text encoding, e.g. Big5 to GBK or vice versa

    2. Right now, the only way to do it is to do the conversion of encoding elsewhere and paste the text back in InDesign. But then all formatting will be lost

  8. Prevent multiple sound files on a page from playing at the same time in an Interactive PDF

Have 2 buttons on a page in indesign cc 2018, each starts a sound file playing, if reader clicks on one and then the second both files play at the same time. I want to click on one button and have it play a sound file and turn off the other sound files if they are playing. Think of it as a menu of sound files in a list but I want only one to be allowed to play at a time.

  9. Password Protection for Online Publishing

It would be incredibly helpful if, when publishing a pdf online - for both personal or professional use - there was an option to add a password protection to the link, so that if a link to an important document were to be shared, only those intended recipients - those with access to the password - would be able to access and view it.

  10. Print the contents of the book window

I'm working on a very long document -- a book with about 300 component files (2-4 pp each). They're all in the book window... but once you're past two or three dozen files, the organization of the book window becomes difficult to view and comprehend. I'd like to print out the contents of the book window (PDF, CSV, spreadsheet, text, whatever) so that I can review what's there and see how best to organize it. The book window allows me to print out the book in different ways, and I can print portions of the book... but not…

  11. Export from InDesign to Adobe Express with frames & keep the frames as frames not as shapes that can't be filled with photos or color.

Export documents containing frames from InDesign to Adobe Express & keep the frames as frames not converting them to shapes that cannot be filled with photos or color.
I'm working on a project with a document created in Adobe InDesign, which may have photos, fill colors, or be blank to fill in Adobe Express. When I export to Adobe Express, the frames convert into elements/shapes, preventing me from placing photos or changing the fill color. This limits my ability to design efficiently and uniformly. Recreating in Express or using new boxes and masking doesn't solve the issue, especially for…

  12. More stability with the CC account connection

INDD is most of the time unable to convert recent documents to an old version. Everything is connected, CC is active, but conversion fails.

Same with libraries. INDD is connected, but libraries are not available (disconnected of CC).

The only solution is to reboot the system, I can't spend my working time to reboot computers.

  14. InDesign review feature request - accept edits

As I am playing with the new review feature within InDesign, I noticed that it is not a robust as the PDF comments feature. There is the "resolve" button, but no "accept" button. I would like to request that there is an "accept" button so I don't have to make any type edits and adding in the risk of error.

  16. Repair Print Booklet please

Anyone finding this post will have the same question: why is it so hard to create an imposed .pdf in InDesign? Is it due to license wars?

I know, there is a workaround via .ps and distiller, but this fails, since there is no flexible generic ppd available. If your home printer only prints A4, you are not able to create an A3 .pdf to print at a printshop. Insane.

Please, Adobe, bring (back) this functionality to create imposed .pdf's at any size with the Print Booklet function, even when no printer is available.

  17. Share for Review - Image Quality

Bring the optimized quality of Share for Review images up to the level of acceptable web-based image optimization at 100% size.

I understand the need to optimize images for high-performance quick reviews. However, the current setting is far too low. Upgrading the image quality to an acceptable web-image optimization will help reduce feedback loops with concerns from stakeholders over bad image quality.

In my review workflows using Shared for Review, I am now constantly exporting and sending separate PDFs to reviewers to prove image quality based on concerns from the Share for Review representation.

    Please know that the Share…

  18. outline entire layer

It would be great if there were an easier solution to outline your tekst. I think I have a solution that would be great in a workflow.

It would be great if, in a indesign document, I could put all the text on one layer. Then, in the layer panel on the right, to right click the layer and convert all the tekst of that layer (throughout the whole document) to outlines!

Obviously, you could duplicate the tekst layer and set it to don't pint so you always have a version of the text to edit.

  19. Automatic detection of colors with values in all CMYK plates

    Background:
For DTP, the color mode must be CMYK. Therefore, RGB black (#000000) is converted to CMYK. This CMYK black color has a value in all CMYK plates. We fix this to K100.

    Request:
A function that automatically detects colors with values in all CMYK plates. It is best added to the preflight profile. It will greatly help the user.

  20. Checkbox to change style of linked object

I would like to use/export interactive PDF, which would allow user to check the checkbox next to object. Upon checking, the object hidden style would become visible.

For example: I have PDF with multiple images of cars. When I check the checkbox near the image of car, that image will be overlayed with green transparent effect to show this car has been selected.

I would like to have this feature available for my collection overview and to see the visual feedback of all collected objects would be satisfying for me.
