1. Convert or Make Dreamweaver able to edit and compose EPUB documents.

   I post this here because Feature Requests aro not longer existing for Dreamweaver, but hear me out. After you export an ePub from inDesing, sometimes is necesary to do some edits that can be done easily with an HTML editor. Extracting the files and restoring back the ePub format for publication could be cumbersome or difficult. You may even start an ePub directly from Dreamwever and finalize it for publication, tests included. I know other tools exist for something like this, but they don't have Emmet. DW could be a fantastic tool for ePub to be a companion for inDesign or just by itself. Thanks.

3. Show at least some info about an object when cursor hovers over it

   I used to use a plug-in that showed me info about any object on the page if I clicked it. That plugin hasn't worked for me in years, so I'm stuck opening and closing the Links panel all the time. I'd like ID to show me some info about objects just by hovering over them (like it instantly shows the grabber when you mouse over an image). Doesn't have to be everything that's shown in the link info. Could just be simple stuff, like dimensions, actual and effective resolution, file name. Or the user could choose from the same choices as are available for the links panel.

4. Right-Click to Duplicate Page Directly on the Canvas

   Currently, duplicating a page in InDesign requires navigating to the Pages panel, locating the desired page, right-clicking, and selecting "Duplicate spread." This process, while functional, adds unnecessary steps—especially in documents with many pages.

   Proposed Enhancement:
   Enable users to right-click directly on a page in the workspace to access the "Duplicate Page" option.

   Why this matters:

   Faster workflow: Eliminates the need to open and scroll through the Pages panel.

5. Have Type Colour always available to select/change

   Please can we have the Type Colour always available to select and change, rather than being hidden secondary to the Fill Colour.

   e.g. why is the Type Colour not in the Character panel like Photoshop has.
   why is the Type Colour in the main horizontal Control Panel not NEXT to the Fill Colour? ... Why do you have to click Fill Colour then T then select the Type Colour??? ... the same for the Swatches Panel - why is the Type Colour secondary to the Fill Colour.

   The same problem also goes for Stroke colour ... why can't the Stroke Colour be NEXT to the Fill Colour??

   The way it is at the moment is a complete waste of time.

6. Pencil tool to hold specific stroke and color

   In previous versions of ID i've been able to select the pencil tool (with no document open) and set it to a specific stroke and color and every time I would then click on the pencil tool to draw, it would do so with those specifications. In the latest CC version, that feature seems to be gone and now I draw and THEN have to set a stroke and color, which really slows me down! Tell me I'm not crazy like the pompous people in the forum! :)

   When I'm doing a layout and sending images out for color work, I can create a retouching layer and mark up all my requests.

   In previous versions of ID i've been able to select the pencil tool (with no document open) and set it to a specific stroke and color and every time I would then click on the pencil tool to draw, it would do so with those specifications.    This feature is required for InDesign. In the Pages panel, there is an icon to customize the page and on that menu, this could be the option or its icon should be added so the user could use it quickly which would be very useful.
   This Feature could be in the Layout Menu and it should be in the Properties Panel too.

8. Rethinking pages with an infinite pasteboard and multi-user collaboration

   Let us bring InDesign into an open and more collaborative world.

   The individual pasteboard and contained page structure of InDesign are very constraining. It is time for a different approach to how we do page layout.

   Let us move to an infinite style pasteboard canvas (a la Illustrator, or Adobe XD, Figma) where your imagination can run wild! Think of it as a blown-up version of the Pages Panel with the same click-to, snap-to rearrange functionality, but without the extra layer of InDesign UI baggage.

   • Pages would function the same way with a left-to-right, top-to-bottom order, snapping layouts into the proper page arrangement.
   • A visual thread can bind groups of pages together to maintain pagination and order.
   • The same thread could double as the indicator of the document's spine for printed matter and the starting point for the measurement ruler.
   • Master Pages would be more like how they are presented in the Page Panel, prepending the pages, but could live contextually, presented only when prompted.

   With this addition, it would be amazing to (fingers crossed) bring collaborative editing into the fold. Opening up the pasteboard makes working with other contributors fun, effective, and overall time-saving. Teams can work in tandem to concept out a project, work on specific areas of the design between page layout, copy editing, artwork creation, and overseeing the creation from afar. If anyone has used Figma, you know how great collaborative features would be if brought to InDesign. Forget about cobbled together documents with varying pages, typographic and object styles, and separate applications like InCopy. No more lone star designers feeling the weight of impending deadlines because “there can only be one” person in the doc at a time.

   InDesign would also become a better educational tool, allowing instructors to showcase typographic concepts and demonstrate page layout.

   A different approach to how we view layout structure and design in InDesign's, plus the ability to work together in a single document would evolve InDesign into a more intuitive and productive software.

   Let us bring InDesign into an open and more collaborative world.

10. Ability to turn on/off Effects by checking box

    Often times when using a preloaded Effect, such as drop shadow, gradient, etc., after creating you realize you don't like it or want to see what it looked like without the effect.

    Rather than having to click back into the options panel to turn off the effect, it would be nice to be able to click the check mark and turn it off or on without going into the options menu.

11. AI tool/agent for typographic/text related questioning of InDesign document

    I’m handling long documents (books, magazines) on a daily basis and would love to see an AI tool/agent inside InDesign, which I can ask various typographic questions via prompting, such as:
    * List all page numbers which contain orphans/widows.
    * List all page numbers which contain less then 15 lines of text in the main text frame/story.
    * List all page numbers where paragraphs end with a single word in the last line.
    * etc.

    Since these things can only be done by visually checking every single page or with partially complex scripting, such an AI agent would help to ease my daily work a lot!

12. Online InDesign document for client text edits — like InCopy but online without the need for technical know-how or files to move around

    I wish there was a way to post InDesign files online that would easily allow proofreaders, editors, clients or anyone without a lot of technical know-how to log in and make text edits. Freeing up designers from spending countless hours making text edits.

    We tried InCopy, but we store files on a shared server and move files up and down through a project management tool. Being able to properly move the InDesign and linked icml files was way too confusing for our writers and proofreaders and out of the question for clients.

    When we work on PPT presentations, we post the presentation on Office 365 and everyone could log in and make changes. The same is true when we work on Websites, by using AEM. And, for HTML email, we use a drag and drop email builder that allows the whole team to log in and make text edits. I wish that was possible for print material created in InDesign. There may be web-to-print tools, but moving away from Adobe is out of the question.

    Maybe there could be an InDesign feature similar to Publish Online but include a way for someone to log in and make text edits. Somehow the Local InDesign files would need to connect to that online document to automatically update the local InDesign file. Maybe, the designer would download icml files similar to an InCopy workflow.

13. Tool to check for if Adobe Creative Cloud Network Endpoints are being blocked by firewall

    For those of us deployed in large organisations with indifferent IT departments.
    It would be useful in Adobe provided a tool to check which of the (100+?) required Adobe Creative Cloud Network Endpoints were blocked by our firewall.
    It is not always clear which endpoint is being blocked.
    If Adobe provided a Creative Cloud App or web tool that checked your network and then provided a nice report we could present to the stubborn IT bods (who insist they have whitelisted all 100+ adobe links)

    (let not get started on why there have to be so many! Or why therer are regional variations? AWS? but why wasn't this considered and written around appropriately?)

14. 字取り機能の改善リクエスト (improvement to "jidori" feature request)

    日本語版独自の「字取り」機能で設定できるのは「文字数」に限られているため、不便な場面が多いです。
    文字数以外の設定はテキストフレーム/フレームグリッドに関わらずフレームグリッド設定に依存します。これを知らずに「字取り」を使いこなせていないユーザーも多いです。

    添付画像 1 に示したのは、私が不便だと感じたケースの全てです。そして（ ）の中には私の仕事での主な使い道です。
    本文とはサイズの異なる文字（見出し段落に字取りを用いる場合が多い）
    字間の広げられたフレームでの挙動（おまけ）
    ストーリー内に配置された、文字サイズの異なる表（一般に表の文字サイズは本文より小さい場合が多い）

    私はこれらの問題を、アンカー付きオブジェクトを挿入、
    あるいは「字取り」を用いずに、
    ホワイトスペースを挿入、トラッキングで調節、文字前後のアキ設定
    などで代用しています。
    つまり、とても不便なのです。

    今回、代案を考えてみました。なかなかの時間をかけました。
    皆さんの賛同が欲しいです。

    従来のグラフィカルなコントロールを廃止し、フライアウトメニューに格納することで、より詳細な設定を可能にすることを提案します。
    これは「縦中横」や「割注」、あるいは「下線」や「打ち消し線」と同様に扱うこととします。

    The "Jidori" function unique to the Japanese version can only be set to "character count," which is inconvenient in many situations.
    Settings other than the number of characters depend on the frame grid settings regardless of the text frame/frame grid. Many users are unaware of this and are not able to use the "Jidori" function well.

    Attached image 1 shows all the cases I found inconvenient. And in parentheses ( ) are the main usages in my work.
    -Characters of different size from the main text (in many cases, the character spacing is used for heading paragraphs)
    -Behavior in frames with extended character spacing (an added bonus)
    -Tables of different font sizes placed within a story (in general, the font size of tables is often smaller than the body text)

    I have solved these problems by inserting anchored objects,
    or without using "Jidori",
    I have used whitespace, tracking adjustments, and tracking/leading aki.
    In other words, it is very inconvenient.

    This time, I tried to come up with an alternative. It took me quite a long time.
    I would like VOTE.

    Attached image 2 is a screenshot of the text panel.
    I propose to do away with the traditional graphical controls and store them in a fly-out menu.
    This should be handled in the same way as "TateChuYoko", "WariChu", or "Underline" and "Strikeout".

    Attached image 3 shows an idea for a settings dialog.
    First, a checkbox at the top, similar to the other functions.
    This will turn on/off the "Jidori".
    Next, radio buttons for
    1 3 elements (Font size, number of characters, and character spacing),
    2 Directly set the characters width (or height for vertical formatting).
    Choose one of the above.

    How do you like it?

    The only slight drawback is that it is not compatible with lower versions of the application at all.
    But isn't it nice?

15. Relative paths to external files

    My goal is to do all the layout and linking in indesign then do an export to a PDF with hyperlinks. The PDF and all the external linked files will then be distributed to other computers via USB-stick or CD.
    The links has to be relative for this to work and I would like to have that option in the hyperlinks pod/panel or when doing a PDF (or HTML export).
    I have been waiting 10 years for this feature - I cant understand why it has not been implemented searching the internet. it must be a clear usecase for indesign.

16. Go to Source of Color

    I would like to go to objects linked to a particular swatch; similar to how you list objects in the Links panel and go to them with the GoTo icon at the bottom. Might be too lengthy to list connected type, but would come in handy for vector objects.

17. page sorter

    When I'm working on a long document, it's very hard to find a specific page that I know the look of, but don't know the page number to. And trying to move pages around is also ver hard in the small Page panel.
    It would be nice to be able to switch views in the main document window/panel to something that looks like the slide sorter on Microsoft Powerpoint. Where the thumbnails of each page isn't as small as they are on the Pages panel and there is a much larger screen real estate to sort through the pages.
    We could toggle between regular view and slide sorter view with a shortcut button maybe next to the Split Layout button on the bottom right.

18. Include search for cross references pointing to other documents in Preflight

    Until now, cross refs to other documents can kill Indesign in case that other document has been renamed, moved or deleted. ID would then, like, forever try to find that document, slowing itself down to the unability to work with it.
    That's why such cross refs should not exist, but they occur when copying text from one document to another. In order to find these cross refs, the only way is to hover with the mouse over the cross refs listing in the cross ref panel. That's annoying. Please include searching for such cross refs to Preflight.

19. ChatGPT Integration in InDesign for Text Editing and Proofreading

    Please add an option in InDesign to integrate text review using ChatGPT. Ideally, this would function as a standalone panel, where we could log in with our own ChatGPT account. Through this panel, we would be able to have the text checked either as a proofreader or as an editor in a special mode—for instance, if the text overflows, it could be shortened to fit the box or page. Similarly, it could generate titles based on the text.

20. Improve Preflight

    Isn’t it about time for an update and some enhancements to this great feature? Some suggestions:

    1. Change the default Preflight Profile to something realistic for quality printing. The absence of warnings is misleading, making people think that everything is fine.
    2. Divide the check for “Protected fonts” into two categories: 1. Fonts which do not allow embedding in PDF, 2. Activated Adobe fonts (the existing behaviour of flagging Adobe fonts as “not allowed” causes a lot of confusion)
    3. Change the wording “Transparency not allowed” to just “Transparency” Transparency is rarely a problem nowadays, though it is still good to check whether everything looks as expected.
    4. Give users the option to choose which kinds of transparency they want to check for, and which not – or at least between opacity, effects and overprint applied in the Attributes Panel.
    5. Give users the option to choose which kinds of bleed problems they want flagged, so they can decide if they want to include text frames (which are rarely a problem), lines, images and image frames. This would reduce the clutter that makes it all too easy to overlook something 
    6. Add an option to include Ink Limit. Looking though hundreds of pages in Separations Preview is very time consuming, and errors are easily overlooked.
    7. Make it possible to choose between the existing behaviour of zooming in on errors, and keeping the selected view. The same goes for when you are finding and replacing text an need to decide depending on the context. E.g., choosing to show a bleed error will invariable result in zooming so close that one cannot see what is happening and what can be done about it. The opposite is the case when checking large pages with lots of small images.
    8. Allow users to set a limit to how much non-proportional scaling is acceptable, such as “show only deviations larger than 3%”.
    9. Make it possible to tab through the error messages, to quickly see the Info. Or even better, add a column so one can see the values just beside the errors, instead of only in the Info window. My dream: Change the whole view to make it similar to the Links Panel, so you are free to sort errors by all kinds of criteria.
    10. When checking for colour errors, give users the options to distinguish between seeing colour warnings from images, and from the document (RGB in images may be OK, but not in the document)
    11. Make it possible to see the names of conditional text indicators which causes errors.
    12. Make it possible to check for missing links in Illustrator files.
    13. Make it possible to flag an error as being OK, and to save this info with the document.
    14. This is probably asking the impossible: It would be really cool if by some artificial intelligence you could detect “looks like 100% Black but is not” in vector graphics. With live text and graphics in InDesign itself, at least you can add unnamed colors to get an idea of the suspects, and perhaps temporarily change them to spots in order to “trick” Preflight to find them. Detecting Registration color in graphics works fine, but there are so many other varieties of black made from all the four CMYK colors, such as C=83 M=67 Y=51 K=95, which can look very ugly in print when used on thin lines or small text, and also cause problems on large areas because of too high ink coverage. Again, the only way I know is going through the whole document with Black turned off in Separations Preview, and try to spot thin lines etc. which would be safer to print in pure Black, a rather time consuming process.
    15. Bleed Hazard warnings should not depend on the document bleed settings, but only on the choices you make in Preflight options. Suppose my document setup has a bleed of 5 mm, and Preflight is set to minimum 3 mm, I will still get warnings about missing bleed for images which extend more than 3 mm outside the page margin.
    16. Paragraph marks, spaces, tabs etc. should not be marked as overset text. Please change this so that only real missing text is listed.
    17. Registration color is flagged even when it will not appear on print, like in backlists with cropped PDF’s of covers, or when illustrations are reused by placing print-ready pages from other books. Please change this so that only real problems are listed.
