  1. Make text wrap around Drop Cap

Please make the text wrap around the Drop Cap as it does when you make the Drop Cap into an object. See examples. This would save about 10 minutes of faffing around for every Drop Cap. Doesn't seem like much but it's a pain when you're working on a book with many chapters.

  2. Option to select all text over multiple components in InCopy

It is impossible to select all text in an article that exists over multiple components.
Now you can only copy text from one component at the time.
Would be helpful, for example, if you need to quickly copy the article to be pasted in an email so it can be send to somebody to review.

  3. Vertical tabs (for better vertical justification in/between para spacing)

There are already similar requests for a fix for the Vertical Justification problem & I'm dealing with this at the moment: several paragraphs & needing the bottom-most para (a 2-line inline table) to appear on the bottom line of the text frame. I have spent so many hours & tried setting it in a table (amongst other things) but, really, it makes more work & I need a Paragraph Border at the sides as a column rule - which was great in a table but which doesn't seem to work on the bottom table paragraph. I'd prefer it as…

  4. Make gradients faster

    1. Sélect Colors or frame Colors (2 or more if it's possible)
    2. Right clic or using shortcuts
    3. Made the gradient directly in the swatches or in a Group
    4. The gradient is made in order the colors are selected

I think this feature can save time and made easier the way to do gradients

  5. Make the visibility of a form field contingent on text entered in a previous form field.

More specifically, I need text entered into a previous form field prior to the visibility of other fields. For example, you cannot fill out a title field without completing a name box previously. Ideally, this could be an option under "event" on the "Buttons and Forms" menu.

This is valuable when creating a form where data needs to be input for followup form fields to become visible.

  6. Swapping Images Command

Please develop Swapping Images Command in Indesign so very easy to swap pictures each other in the document for everywhere means in table or frame.
Even Big to Small or small to big jus select to frame or table and press the command or shortcuts key of swapping images and It's very useful.

  8. Ability to change text from a dialog box like Corel Draw

I use Corel Draw from time to time and when I need to edit a string of text it lets me edit it from a dialog box instead of only on the page so I do not have to zoom up on any text strings to edit them. Can this be done for InDesign and Illustrator as well.

  10. Allow character style to affect tab leaders

I applied a tab leader in my paragraph style in order to force dots to appear between my text and page number in my table of contents. However, there is no way to style those leaders. InDesign manual says: To change the font or other formatting of the tab leader, select the tab character in the text frame, and use the Character panel or Type menu to apply formatting.

This is fine except when you have a really long table of contents and want to format each tab leader. I chose a smaller dot by choosing a light font…

  11. Pathfinder operations working on open paths

Pathfinder should work with open paths. That would make it easy to cut a number of open paths to form. Can be very performant for preparing threaded text paths for curved prints like adhesive labels, stickers or price labels where text must follow the outer shapes.

Alternatively: Allow text wrapping with text on text paths!

  12. publish online accessibility

Since the web has accessibility standards and guidelines, the documents created and hosted online using Publish Online should follow those guidelines, at least the most basic parts.

For example, a screen reader cannot read out any text on the pages because all the text is embedded into images. This makes the documents unusable for anybody with vision difficulties.

Please consider adding an option to create these files with the actual text saved as HTML paragraphs, headers, lists, anchors, etc. This would make it suitable for the web and much more appealing.

  13. Image Captions correctly (numerically) ordered in TOC

Currently it appears that numbered image captions that are anchored in text frames are sorted in a TOC according to location from left to right on a page regardless of image number ordering (ie logical numbered order of images may not be correctly sorted in the TOC. I would like to see the images sorted with reference to the 'logical' (numerical) order of the text anchors when the image caption text frames are anchored into a page text frame.

This will provide flexibility to locate image captions anywhere on the page while maintaining…

  14. Enable slanted headers in tables

Right now, in order to create a "slanted" header for tables (see attached graphic) you either have to create a separate table and slant the entire object, or create a slanted effect by using lines and text boxes. It would be great if there was an option to slant the entire row of text in a table.

  15. Hide all text and picture box borders when hiding Guides.

I wish InDesign would hide all faint text and box borders when hiding the document Guides. I am forced to go to Overprint Preview to hide those, which slows down the design process, because Overprint Preview mode is very slow and not at all smooth to scroll through multiple book pages to preview designs without the distractions of seeing any faint text boxes. I don't see this ability in any of the Settings menus. Indesign 19.2, Mac Ventura 13.6.4

  16. Table numbering and easier cross-reference/text anchor setup in tables

It would be nice to be able to automatically number a specific row by just pressing a button, instead of using the "End Nested Style Here" command and copying/pasting in the following rows. It would also be nice if the corresponding column would read the number and be able to set up a text anchor for a paragraph number cross-reference.

  17. Add Anti-Alias Intent to text for graphic export

As web publishing has been an important part of InDesign since 5.5, it would be extremely helpful if anti-alias intent could be determined, either at a paragraph level or on output. Both Photoshop and Illustrator have this feature, and without it, export jpeg and png for web use is not up to publishing quality.

Relatedly, when an image is placed in a document at a scale other than 100%, it would be helpful if the downsampling/upsampling intent could similarly be chosen by the user.

Currently, the only way to produce publishable web materials from InDesign is to export a lossless…

  18. Text + Format comparison between two InDesign files

    Hello,

I just want to start eBook creation. I have many different users to write content from manual book. I need files from few users(at least two) to compare them with Text + Format comparison to minimize human errors like spell mistakes, format mistakes etc. I need it as basic feature to me to purchase InDesign as I am really impressed with all other features. But without this comparison feature it is baseless to me. Can you please provide me update is it possible in near future and some solid plans if you are okay.

    Or else if you can…

  19. Online InDesign document for client text edits — like InCopy but online without the need for technical know-how or files to move around

I wish there was a way to post InDesign files online that would easily allow proofreaders, editors, clients or anyone without a lot of technical know-how to log in and make text edits. Freeing up designers from spending countless hours making text edits.

We tried InCopy, but we store files on a shared server and move files up and down through a project management tool. Being able to properly move the InDesign and linked icml files was way too confusing for our writers and proofreaders and out of the question for clients.

When we work on PPT presentations, we post…

  20. Make Anchored text box and table content visible in InCopy story editor

Anchored objects only appear as icons in the InCopy story editor tab. This is no problem for photos and graphics, however:

My editors can't see tracked changes if they can't view the anchored text or tables in the Story Editor. They can make edits in Layout view, but can't tell if another editor made any edits.

Unlike InDesign where I can see track changes in the Story editor just by clicking in the anchored text or table, InCopy has no alternative — editors have only the Story tab and it doesn't appear there.

This is a crucial feature for us.…
