New Cross Reference > Showing Page number near the Paragraph Text proposal
Hi Guys !
Something that could be great in indesign is having the possibility of showing the page number corresponding to the Paragraph Text proposal, when we creat a new Cross reference.
For exemple, here I work with a big catalog of 500 pages, and 500 titles.
I need to creat a cross reference between intermediate TOC and the title,
But when I have MAny times the same title, it becames to be hard to test eache title to get the good page number
for exemple my search right now is :

Create a text variable window to see and edit values faster
Right now you have to open each variable independently. Then if you want to change the value you have to save and exit each variable. Also you have to open each variable to see the value.
Please create a Text Variable Window with two columns. One for the Name the other for the value. This way we can see the variable and edit the variable. Add the add icon, and add duplicate variable icon.

Besides entering coordinate values, does InDesign have a function to align two path points?
For aligning one or two points, the best way is probably to enter coordinate values, but can it be a bit slow sometimes.
Wouldn't it be cool to have this feature in the alignment panel.

Vertical tabs (for better vertical justification in/between para spacing)
There are already similar requests for a fix for the Vertical Justification problem & I'm dealing with this at the moment: several paragraphs & needing the bottom-most para (a 2-line inline table) to appear on the bottom line of the text frame. I have spent so many hours & tried setting it in a table (amongst other things) but, really, it makes more work & I need a Paragraph Border at the sides as a column rule - which was great in a table but which doesn't seem to work on the bottom table paragraph. It should be possible to turn on or turn off “Respect indents” in the Text Wrap Options.
For a long time InDesign did not respect the indenting of block quotes when text wrap was applied to photos. Then last year I was working on a big book with many indented quotes and many photos and was pleased to see the indent was respected when I set a text wrap around a photo. Now, in the latest version, that is no longer the case. This is a serious problem in large illustrated books with many block quotes. Swapping Images Command
Please develop Swapping Images Command in Indesign so very easy to swap pictures each other in the document for everywhere means in table or frame.

Allow negative indentation!
Please allow negative indentation!
That would make all kinds of hanging bullets, chapter numbers and outdentations easy without any workaround (like "indent everything but the headlines and lists" ...). It would make text layout faster, purer and cleaner, as the type area could be correctly defined just for the copy text.
I think this simple change should be easy to implement and bring enormous relief for our craft.

Interactive Form Fields need to be fully editable (i.e. Color, paragraph styles, Sample Text)
When exporting an Interactive PDF from InDesign, we still need to be able to assign Colors and Paragraph Styles AND retain the FPO copy we have typeset in the Text box.
For example, in my attached screenshot, when I choose to export as an Interactive PDF, I need to see all of the copy within the box show up exactly as shown. I have it set up so that it still feels slightly designed (despite being a form) and worded so that the client can follow along and replace certain parts with specific language. Put Distribute Spacing icons in the Control Bar
I use these controls along with the align controls every day. There's no reason they can't be grouped together with the align controls in the control bar.
I keep all my tool palettes on a second monitor, so the Align buttons in the control bar are 30" away from the Distribute Spacing icons in the Properties panel of the second monitor.

Select path for text wrap for Illustrator files
When applying text wrap to an image (PSD, TIF, JPEG) the user can select a path to apply text wrap to. This allows the user to edit the path within the image using Photoshop’s path editing tools. This is much better than InDesign’s pen for editing a text wrap path. This is probably the worst path editing feature in any professional graphics program. So it’s a good thing we can edit that path somewhere else.

Make gradients faster
- Sélect Colors or frame Colors (2 or more if it's possible)
- Right clic or using shortcuts
- Made the gradient directly in the swatches or in a Group
- The gradient is made in order the colors are selected
I think this feature can save time and made easier the way to do gradients

Is there a way to make “long text variables” wrap automatically?
Sometimes I encounter very long chapter titles, and when using variable headers, they don't wrap automatically. Is there a good solution for this?Currently, all the text is crammed into a single line.

Text selection does not work properly with inline images
Actual result: If you place an inline image in the paragraph and the height of the image is higher than one line of text, the text selection does not work properly: the height of the highlighted area is equal to the height of the inline image (in the attached sample three lines).
Expected result: the highlighted area should only appear around the selected expression, not two lines below it.

Don't add an extra page when endnotes are imported
The new endote option is nice (could be better, but hey, it's something). The only thing that bugs me is the fact that a new page is added everytime I place text that contains endnotes, or when I copy/paste that text.
It screws up much of my design, and I have to manually delete the page and put everything back in it's right place.
Would be great if the endnote frame would just be placed on the same page as the end of the text flow!

Please add an interactive box for images + option to set font color for interactive text boxes
I recently started to make interactive PDF forms in InDesign (which is a great tool!), but I was surprised to find out that:
- you cannot add an interactive box for images
- you cannot set color to the assigned font in interactive text boxes...
Seems like some basic functions like this are still missing in InDesign, so it would be greatly appreciated if you could add it to your to-do list.

Alignment of anchor points is a really important feature
In many many situations - when working with lines, shapes or boxes - being able to align and distribute anchor points is needed. Having to do this in Illustrator and then bring it back to InDesign is not ideal, it makes small adjustments or corrections arduous and time consuming.
