  1. Add option to open current working folder when using "relink" option

    Hello,

can we please have an option to open/search in current working folder (where the .indd is saved) when using relink function, rather than opening previously used links folder.

make it a toggle option for users that prefer its current state

  2. "Go back to a specific page"

"Go back to a specific page" - meaning if I have text links in the file and move from page 10 to page 110, give me an easy way to return to where I came from. In this case, page 10. Like a back button navigating through webpages.

  3. InDesign keeps crashing while copying and pasting text between files

While copying and pasting text from one InDesign file to another, the program often crashes. Today I finally understood what helps to avoid this: You need to break the links to all paragrahp styles before copying and pasting, then it works fine. Please try to fix this bug, it´s really annoying...

    Thanks!

  4. Svg clipping mask not applied

Svg clipping masks are not applied to svg files linked in indesign. This makes it impossible for me to create an svg and import it to indesign.

I have attached the original version created in inkscape as well as the imported version in indesign.

  5. How about a progress bar when relinking images?

I just got back an InDesign document that someone else had edited, and I needed to point it towards my own copies of the links. I spent about 3 hours trying to figure out why InDesign would seemingly crash every time I tried to update the links (it would put up the "Spinning Rainbow Pizza Wheel of Death" cursor and "Force Quit Applications" would say that the program was "not responding.") I finally figured out that it was just taking 10-15 minutes to process all the images in the folder, but not putting up any information or a…

  6. Use relevant error messages

    "Cannot copy necessary linked file(s)"
"Failed To Export The PDF File"
These messages sucks. Why keeping the reasons in secret?
Which file cannot copied? On which page/object failed the export?
Users spend many working hours to find the problem, which ID have to know, but don't publish.

  7. Automatically change text in alternate Design

Having a design A and creating an alternative design B, that the texts stay linked, example: if I change a text in A (a misspelling or a word) that text is also changed in the alternative design B (with its style B alternative)

  8. group images by page

we would like to have the option to show links or images grouped by page because we have some time same images in 60 pages and we then want to replace them only on specif pages. so instead of doing it one image at a time, we could then just replace the images based on pages.

  9. Packaging cloud

When you package a file, it would be helpful if InDesign took any cloud documents and then saved them as part of the packaged file. Currently when you send someone your packaged file, the links are broken/missing because they still exist on the original designer's cloud.

  10. Removal modal warnings when opening a document.

Such as missing links, fonts, etc. Perhaps a docked issues panel once the document is open, but modals block the loading, and if you happen to be opening several old documents at the same time... Also the one that needs attention inevitably pops under the one that says the document is loading. Just remove them all and find another way to give the user feedback.

  11. No transition effects to assist loading pages with identical backgrounds.

By default Publish online introduces a fade on page load even when there are no transitions applied in InDesign. This interferes when you use multiple pages to spoof the appearance of navigating within a one-page environment.

When I export to PDF the background isn't redrawn so the appearance of the linked page appears smoothly. Publish Online is clunky when loading the next page as it momentarily goes black and then fades-in the page items.

A bit of background .... I've created a page with a number of rollover buttons, then a duplicate of that page which is navigated to…

  12. Preserve Formatting Pasting text from CC Apps

I just did a nutritional label in ai and linked it to an indesign project, but wanted it to be more flexible using Indesign's text frames. As you know, nutritional labels require a TON of font size and weight variances so it really threw me for a loop that I couldn't retain all the formatting I had done when I pasted the text into indesign. Ruined my day sigh

  13. Drag Edited Images in Lightroom Directly to InDesign which automates Export and Creates Shadow File Folder Structure of Edited Files.

Drag Edited Images in Lightroom Directly to InDesign which automates Export and Creates "Shadow File Folder Structure" of Exported Edited Files. This would allow easy Image Navigation for visually identifying assets from Lightbox environment and directly linking them to INDD files without the cumbersome and redundant step of Exporting and then searching for exported file in FINDER. This is a no brainer for LR IND Integrated workflows! Please prioritize!

  14. Network package issue

I get a error message when I try to export a PDF or make other package from a file that I packaged from company network server. Is like I can't access the links files anymore. And I even can't delete them!

I'm using the Indesign 13.1 and macOS High Sierra 10.13.6

  15. Focus the application after drag-and-drop

Scenario: 2 monitors, on the right Bridge, on the left inDesign. When I drag-and-drop a file into a container, as expected, the linked file does change.

Problem: inDesign doesn't focuses - Bridge remains in focus, so any shortcut key goes into this. Example, Ctrl-Z removes the last copied file... :-(

Suggestion: focus inDesign after an external drag-an-drop is accepted.

  16. Auto Package INDD files by Default

It would be helpful if InDesign packaged documents by default when they are created. Ideally, as fonts and linked images are added to/deleted in the document, they are auto added/deleted in the package.

This would be a time saver and would ideally eliminate the unnecessary duplicate INDD file created in the current package output and ensure all the current assets are in the file without ever having to manually update.

  17. Update only some pages of an earlier exported PDF

When Exporting a big document, sometimes after a change it would be nice to update only the changed page in the exported file.
    - it would save time as the export would complete faster
    - no need to have all the linked files of the whole document locally just to update one page
    - it would save me exporting one one some pages and then opening the old PDF file in Acrobat and replacing the updated page manually.

  18. Indesign 2024

    To the developers:

I am in charge of a newspaper in the north of Spain, ALERTA. I am considering whether to switch to the new InDesign 2024 following the information from the presentation meeting your company held. It has taken me time to adapt our catalog to your new policy on Type 1 fonts. Once this issue was resolved, and I was able to look at the new features of the new version, I found that some of the things said in that presentation are either false or not entirely true to reality. That story about the new paragraph styles…

  19. Keep saved video attributes when opening packaged file and relinking media

I am working on documents that are published online, with video and sound features. If a file is packaged and sent to other members of a team, upon opening the Indesign file, you are required to relink all media in the Links folder. However, some features are then lost, like the Poster frame settings for Video files (set in the Media panel).
It would also be useful to be able to have the option to have sound on or off when publishing online, without having to do this in another application.

  20. Choosing the number separator yourself

When you translate a pricing table the decimal comma might change to a decimal point. E.g. German to English. Even when i changed the language of the file to english, there was no way for me to change the decimal comma to a decimal point. I used a GREP search and replace for that. But as soon as the linked excel table updates, i have to remember to do the GREP search. I managed to change the decimal seperator in excel, but indesign seems to override it by using the systems language.
