Recent Fonts List Modification to maintain the last selected position
Currently, if you have Number of Recent Fonts to Display set to anything but zero (0), recent fonts appear at the font drop down list, but the drop down starts at the top of the fonts list no matter what your current font is.
If I am just wanting the next or previous font in the list from the font I am currently using, I now have to scroll all the way down to that font. When the Number of Recent Fonts to Display is set to zero (0), when the drop down is selected, it is positioned at the font you are currently using instead of the top of the list. This is preferable.
Can you combine these actions. When there is a recent fonts list, the drop down should be at the current font being used in the text that is selected.
This is something CorelDraw does and has done for years. Here's to hoping this would be an easy programming issue. Otherwise, I will not use that feature due to the amount of scrolling that needs to be done to get to the current font, or any other font I want to get that is not right at the top.

"Include subfolders" option when using "Relink to folder"
When choosing "Relink to folder" in the Links panel, there should be an option to "Include subfolders". In large documents with hundreds of links that are organized into subfolders, it is a huge chore to have to click through individual folders.

Collaborative, Syncing, Files
Add collaborative qualities to files so multiple people can edit at the same time and sync to update. This is VITAL for team work and educational work. Group work and teams will never go away.
34 votesThanks for making this request. In order to understand the use-case more better I have a few questions:
1. Whats the role of the different people working collaboratively on the same file. Are they always only designers or are other personas also involved.
2. What are the different kind of files (brochures, books, magazines etc) for which this is required.
3. Where is the file on which these different users need to work together on be placed. Should this be on a cloud server, or a shared server.
4. How do you workaround this need today? What are the most important problems with the current workaround? -
Export as TIFF
Some applications often request TIFF files. Especially, when the file size exceeds PDF dimensions. The work around of export to a PDF and then to a TIFF does not work in these situations.

Allow removal of the "publish online" button that appears when you embed a published InDesign document.
Allow removal of the "publish online" button that appears when you embed a published InDesign document. This can be distracting to users and potentially direct them away from the content they are viewing.

Would like to be able to anchor images anywhere and have the text wrap respected
Specific anchor location is important for placements in ePub/HTML exports. However, there are a couple major drawbacks with InDesign's current anchoring abilities.
(1) If an image is supposed to appear after a certain paragraph, but that paragraph ends on the previous spread, you cannot anchor the image to the paragraph it belongs with on the previous spread. (see screenshot: ToPreviousSpread.png). This seems to defeat the purpose of an anchored object. It can't be anchored so will not travel with re-flowing text and it will not Export to ePub/HTML in that specific location.
(2) Images cannot be anchored after their placement and retain their text wrap. See screenshots 01.png, 02.png, and 03.png. The image belongs with the red paragraph and needs to be placed at the top of the right hand page in the print book. It should also appear after the red paragraph in the ePub/HTML. However, if you anchor the image to that location, the preceding (red) text disappears behind the image, thus, negating the image's text wrap. There are workarounds, but it would be nice to be able to do this without modifying/re-sizing the text box.

text anchor list
There is lack of TEXT ANCHOR LIST window
Is it very hard to manage such anchors.I'm finishing a very long scientific publication containing over 650 pages and 1600 footnotes. I have to make about 100 internal hyperlinks and cross references but there is no simple way to see available text anchors in document.
Please think about it.

Multiple styles per element with cascade like CSS
So many documents get output into electronic formats now. The limitation of only one style per element (paragraph, character, object) makes it difficult to map what is happening in InDesign to good HTML and CSS.
If InDesign allowed multiple styles to be applied to an element, with cascade rules like CSS, then electronic output would be easier and the quality of generated markup could be improved. In addition, being able to apply simple style changes to override more comprehensive styles would simplify documents and reduce the number of styles needed to make little variations of design possible..

Please expose a PDF's page count to scripting
To place a PDF in InDesign, you have to know the PDF's page count. The main point of the PlaceMultiPagePDF script is to show how you can place a PDF without knowing its page count, but it's slow business and get very tedious when you want to place part-ranges that include an open-ended range, such as 10-20, 30-
There is a hack, but it's ugly and unreliable.

Underlined spaces at the ends of lines in running text
- It would be nice if, when an underlined space falls at the end of a line in running text, the space "disappears" so that it's underline isn't hanging out in space like a ghost..
- It's valuable because it looks weird when an underlined space sticks out beyond the last nonwhite-space character in the line. It's particularly noticeable in justified type, but I think the same principal applies regardless of the justification.

Swap graphics/images…
I know it exists as a script BUT i've been waiting a loooong time to get a very basic SWAP function between 2 inDesign frames'content.
Say I have 2 frames on a page, one contains image A, the other contains image B.
I select the 2 frames, in object menu, I have one option (usually grayed out if 0, 1, 3 or more objects are selected) (+ same in contextual right-click menu).
That option says "swap images" (in french "permuter les images").
Everything in one frame goes to the other.
That implies groups of items.
That implies taking care of the adjust/resize options :
- If set for both frames, use frame options.
- If set for none : use previous coordinates.
- if set for one only : swap frame options too.It shall work too if an image is selected, and not its frame.
Inside frames. It sounds like a JDI feature, it already exists :
here :

or there :
http://indesign-faq.de/en/swapping_images_enI know it's an install away, but it would be a nice addition.

Remove the menu bar from Publish Online when in full screen mode and make sure any remote clicker device can be used to present.
Several users in our practice would like to present animated InDesign presentations using Publish Online.
However nobody likes the menu bar appearing across the bottom of the screen, it's very distracting for anyone presenting onscreen.
Also, most people presenting onscreen would use a remote clicker to move through the slides, as you would in a PowerPoint presentation. However the remote clicker does not work with Publish Online. I would say that I could move our entire practice, with over 1,000 users over to Publish Online from PowerPoint if these two major factors were addressed. It's a shame because they are currently losing interest and reverting back to PowerPoint. This is very disappointing for me as an in-house Adobe trainer. Our users love InDesign and really wanted to get going with the animation and Publish Online, but these two issues are major problems for presenters all over the world.

Outlining text removes underlines (line above and below)
When supplying PDFs to printers they often/always require all text to be outlined. If you put an underline on any text and than go 'Type > Create Outlines', only the text becomes outlined and it completely removes any underline (line above and below that I've setup in paragraph styles). Expected results: To have the text outlined and retain the line above/below.
33 votesThanks for reporting this issue. We understand why the present behavior is not desirable for your needs.
We are going to consider this as a Feature Request. Accordingly, we’ve moved this to the Feature Request category in Uservoice. Thanks,

Find all instances of a Paragraph Style
Find all instances of a Paragraph Style in a document via the Paragraph Styles panel. Like you can see with Links, be able to view the pages that the styles exist on and jump to these pages by clicking on the page number in the panel or be able to navigate through them with up and down arrows
