I would agree! I have been a user of Adobe products since the late 1980s, and there are scores of PageMaker 7 files that I created that would be of help to me now if they could be imported into InDesign 2023. Please give it serious consideration.

It seems ridiculous that Adobe, even in it's current CC2023 incarnation of InDesign, still maintains the import filter for Quark XPress 3.x and 4.x files, but decided to drop the filter for PageMaker. Considering the even wider appeal for such a filter now, it's time to bring it back.

I agree! I have loads of old pagemaker files I need to access like many others. Have no idea why Adobe will not help us with this issue. Seems crazy to me not to allow us access to download CS6

Adobe is acting like they have no competition. Oh wait ...
Come on Adobe!! Thousands of us have been using your products for years but we've been in this business longer than you have. We have tons of files we need to convert and you could help us if you only wanted to. If you knew we could leave to a competitor, you would move at light speed. Knowing we have no options, you are getting lazy and inconsiderate. -

Please make it possible to open Pagemaker files! They had been saved in InDesign CS6, and until a few months ago, I was able to open them. I'm unable to find the old version of InDesign to open/convert them so they can be opened in the current version of InDesign. I've owned Adobe products since 1989. I was an early adopter of the Creative Cloud concept and have been a loyal customer, paying monthly, ever since. I'd like to be able to use files that have been "saved" please.

PLEASE provide a convenient way for CC subscribers to open/convert PageMaker files.
Earlier this year, I could open my Pagemaker files in CS6 - downloaded from Adobe as part of my CC subscription - and save them as InDesign files. But now, I can't download CS6 from Adobe, nor open Pagemaker files in InDesign. As a paid-up subscriber of 5 years, it seems wrong that I can't access files that I created with Adobe products.

How about not a new fully editable InDesign file (if that's just too hard, too expensive or too much trouble to you) but just pdfs of the pages? I'd compromise on that if I had to.

Well, those comments all make sense, allow me to add my own cry for help and support here. I have early editions of my guide to the Maldives (Resorts of the Maldives, editions 1, 2 & 3) that I made in PageMaker and though I have the photographs, I cannot open the file of the books themselves. This is a huge shame for archive and historical reasons alone. Just a chance to open, convert and save the files would be so valuable.
And, as others have said, isn't this part of what we are paying for every month? All of that stuff that you provide and promote is great but most of us don't use most of it, as of course you know. This plug-in would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks Adobe, please do this.

I need this! Adobe took away access to InDesign CS6. This is an absolute need!

Yes, this is an absolutely necessary feature. At this point it is not even possible to install InDesign CS6 on a current MacOS and InDesign CS6 crashes all the time on an earlier MacOS installed on a virtual machine. Besides, those are old technologies with many known flaws. The only secure thing is for the owner of the file format, that is Adobe, to create an up to date converter and provide it to those who license Creative Suite. Isn't that their justification for renting their software instead of selling it? Keep everyone up to date with access to all of their Adobe software created files?

I also have many Pagemaker 6+ files, and occasionally I need to open them. Please make a plug-in to allow this. Thanks.

We too have many Pagemaker 6.5 files. I built a computer just to run PM. Our daughter is using InDesign and we are slowly moving them across. Seems a shame not being able to save time with an import feature. Will InDesign be replaced in future with a new program that doesn’t read InDesign files? Seems to be the way of technology.
CS6 had a feature no longer available- we have a copy of CS6 around so we do the two step solution. Make Adobe great again -

Dear Adobe,
I have 25 years of PageMaker work that I need access to. I am running Adobe CC, but it CAN NOT open PageMaker docs. I understand that Adobe removed the ability for ID to open PageMaker files,
but PLEASE MAKE A PLUG IN OR PATCH FOR THIS. I understand PageMaker is an ancient legacy program, but there are many people like me that have old work that needs to be accessed. Can you PLEASE provide me with a patch or plug in? If not, can you please give me access to download the last version of ID, so I can convert my files? I have been a loyal Adobe customer for many years, and I am paying for the full Adobe CC subscription every month. I have no interest in going backwards to an older version of ID, but in this case I need to have that older version for PageMaker file conversion.Thank You,
Thomas

Our Adobe Plan does not support to open pagemaker files. Earlier days, we stored the design files in cd/dvd's for backup purpose. If we want the file to work back / the hard drive corrupted, we restore the files from cd/dvd's. In this case our older design files in pagemaker version. When we move into indesign, the adobe subscription to allow install the indesign cs6 version. So we open the pagemaker file from indesign cs6, then convert it and stored in the indesign cc version. In 2020, we moved to adobe upgraded program the adobe creative cloud, it does not support indesign cs6. So our older pagemaker files does not open. Please provide a solution for open the pagemaker files (already backuped in cd/dvd) for our work.
