More options when creating Forms via InDesign
InDesign has a few features that make it possible to export an interactive PDF-Formular directly from InDesign.
This CAN save a lot of time when customers require changes on these Files but sadly InDesign is missing out a lot of features that Adobe Acrobat has - even though it'd be a lot easyier to set everything up in InDesign.
So in my opinion the Formular menue needs some improvement and get more functionality (In Acrobat you can define a font VS via InDesign you can't) since more and more customers request Interactive PDF-Forms etc.
It would be valuable to us…

Enhance the new Suffix feature for exporting single Pages or single Spreads as PDF
The new Suffix feature allows three parameters: ^#, ^P and ^S. So far so good.
To make the feature complete I would suggest a couple of other parameters:^N for page names
Page names like i, ii, iii or a, b, c or 001, 002, 003 would be possible.
Also names like 200 for the first page in a document that starts with 200 for page one.^X for section prefixes ( max. of 8 characters )
^A for names of Alternate Layouts
^W for width of page
^H for height of page
^Pt , ^mm, ^In etc.pp. for unit…

"Force quit" a background task
In all the years that we've had background tasks, I've almost never been able to cancel one successfully. Whenever a task hangs up for unknown reasons, and I hit cancel, it just hangs on the 'cancelling' step and the only way to stop it is to force-quit InDesign, which can equal lost work and damaged files.
I would like to see a more assertive way to force shut down of a background task that isn't cooperating.

Form Field Calculations in InDesign
With InDesign's form tools, we're missing the ability to add calculations to form fields in InDesign, and that task must be done manually in Acrobat.
To start, I'd like to be able to build simple calcs into my InDesign forms. Example:
And expense report has a form field for each day of the week, and then a total for all of the days. Would like a simple summation calc that I could use for rows of fields or columns of fields. Or both!
Another example: multiplication of quantity times price. Or multiplication of 5% sales tax on an amount field.

Move "missing links" prompt to before PDF export dialogue.
Please move the "missing fonts" or "missing links" prompts to BEFORE the PDF naming and features preferences. I makes me nuts when navigate to where I'm dropping the final export, then name it, only to have an alert pop up telling me I'm missing something. I should be told that IMMEDIATELY.

Open hyperlinks in new tab
You could update the software with the function to open hyperlinks in new tab within PDFs and other formats. This is very necessary.

Export selected pages
I very frequently need to export only certain pages to PDF. I know I can type a range or multiple ranges. But it would realy speed up my professional work if I could just select the pages and hit 'Export selected pages...' in the contextual mouse menu.
This feature was present until CS6 by a plugin named HandyTools by DTP Utils.

Export PDF Booklet
Instead of having to do "File>Print Booklet" and hassling with making a post script file and making a PDF from that (which doesn't ever seem to work the right way for me) there should be an option to export a booklet PDF. So many of the printers I work with request a booklet PDF and it would make everything so much easier if there was this option.

Preserve filename on PDF export
This is a common issue having looked around the internet for a solution...
PDF export uses the name of the file up until the point where a user changes the name of the PDF before export, then saves the file after the export is done. That changed name is then written into the file and used as this is the expected behaviour.
However, this becomes an issue if you are repurposing the same artwork at different sizes (for example) where you have to manually override the filename on each export.
It would be great if a future InDesign build had…
64 votesThe feature to “Preserve Filename on PDF Export” was introduced in InDesign 2019 in the PDF Export dialog.
The option is called “Use InDesign Document Name as the Output Filename”.Marking this Feature Request as Completed.

Multi Export
An export option that would allow the user to select multiple options for exporting their document, in one simple 'Multi-Export' option.
An idea of how this would look could be in the 'Export' dialog box, the user would be able to check a box that would enable 'Multi Export'. This would mean you can choose multiple methods to export in one easy opportunity in the Dialog Box. An example of this would be;
I, the designer or user of InDesign need to send a client a Medium Resolution copy of the file before we hit print, but I also want…

The option to remember PDF export settings on a document by document basis
Currently InDesign remembers the PDF export settings across the program which is good but we have to export either print or interactive based on the file. It would be really useful to have the document itself remember the settings so we don't have to keep changing back - often forgetting and sending clients print PDFs where they should be interactive.

Improve tables for tagged pdf and accessibility
Tables needs some improvement for better and accessible PDF output.
- There are no options for vertical table headings. I’m not talking about complex tables just simple tables with a custom amount of heading columns from the left or the right. InDesign should tag those cells as <TH> as it does for horizontal table headings or footers.
- Those simple tables and its table headers should get a scope attribute which says if the heading is used for a column or a row. The use of the either the scope attribute or id’s is a PDF/UA requirement.

After data merge, export to split PDF
I do lots of work that involves creating personalized documents for event attendees (schedules, welcome letters, etc.). I merge attendee data from the registration site. Upon rendering a merged document, I should be able to export each page as an separate PDF using data fields as filenames. "Smith, John Itinerary.pdf" for each person, for example. The workaround for this involves generating and exporting bookmarks to Acrobat, which is convoluted and doesn't always work.

Accessibility—PDF Export Preset
In PRINT PDF export options, we have the option of saving settings as JobOptions which can be selected in the future from a drop-down menu.
Need the same capability in INTERACTIVE PDF export options, too.
And we also need preset for accessibility from both PRINT and INTERACTIVE PDF exports, one that ships and installs with InDesign and PDF Maker (MS Office) to automatically set the options for tagging and tab order.

Interactive/Button and Forms/PDF Options - Add Text Field option for flush left, centered or flush right
Text Fields are all flush left. Add an option to make them flush left, centered or flush right. I create interactive PDFs. Every time I export to a PDF, I open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Pro and have to manually change Prepare Form/Text Field Properties/Options/Alignment to the desired alignment to "centered" or "flush right" since the default is "flush left." This option would be a great time saver and save on my frustration.

Export PDF comments
InDesign 2019 -- PDF comment import works fine, however what is the point if I cant then export back to PDF for further review and INCLUDE those comments?
Seems like the import PDF comments without including them in the export to PDF is an incomplete feature.

Improve InDesign Accessibility Export to PDF
ARTICLES AND LAYERS
When the logical reading order is set in Articles, it would save time if Layers could replicate the same order, whether it’s automated or if there was a way to select “Use Articles reading order for Layers.”TABLE STRUCTURE
Set header scope for both columns and rows in cell properties in InDesign.Simplified complex table structure.
FOOTNOTES
Set the hyperlink and correct tags when footnotes are referenced in tables.More layout flexibility would also be helpful.
