Black only crops
When printing or exporting to a pdf file for print, can we have an option of black only crop marks. The reason is when we print to our Xerox Igen 4 and there is a mixture of color and black and white pages, the pages with just black text register as color because of the registration colored crop marks and on large runs it can add up to a lot of money. Add a discription in the PDF filename with PDF presets
Add a discription in the PDF filename with PDF presets.
For example when you have a PDF-preset named HIGH RESOLUTION FOR PRINT you can add PRINT at the end of the filename (filename_PRINT.pdf)
So in the future when you save a PDF file with that PDF preset, the word _PRINT will always be added to the filename. Off cours people can turn this off but it would be a nice feature :)

PDF Export Dialog
I still don't get the reason why you need to separate between Print and Interactive on PDF export at first stage where you choose your file format.
Please put make these options selectable in the PDF preset dialog insted.
It happens too oft to me that i don't look at the little format field at the bottom and just take attention to where i want to export my filesttoo and then am presented to the wrong dialog forcing me to abort the procedure to start over again.Thank you!

Scaleable exporting PDF
For many 'big print' applications, you need to upload your design in 100% off the format. But, in many cases, your design is made in 1:10 scale for better cross design, workflow and speed of Indesign.
It would be nice to 'export' your file in a scale. So that your Indesign doc remains the 1:10 scale (or else) and your PDF can easily be twice or ten times bigger. Changing pdf preset should reset page range to 'all'
Unfortunately InDesign remembers page range setting even when changing PDF preset from dropdown list in Export dialog. It would be awesome for page range to reset to 'all' when choosing another PDF export preset. I don't always remember check the range and have to do the pdf file twice. Not the major problem, but a little improvement :)

Placed pdfs lose accessibility and all the tags have to be re-created
When I import or place my pdfs and then export my indesign file all the tags disappear in the exported pdf. This is really annoying as all the tags have to be created again.

Empower Indesign "Books" to export PDF's that display perfect spreads between "chapters."
PDF is the only way to view a complete "Book." But Indesign is designed only to generate single-page PDF's. That is fine for final output for print production, when one needs a single-page document. But it fails during the design process, when one needs to show the clients a whole book (with complex visual/verbal design) as spreads. background tasks - interactive pdfs
I'm trying to export documents to interactive PDF, the option is only available via File > Export and seems to force the process into the foreground.
Please allow Interactive PDFs to be scheduled for creation via a background task so that I can continue to work in other documents.

Preserve PDF export settings for document only
PDF export settings are actually preserved application wide. When exporting different documents InDesign remembers the settings and uses them for the next document. If you have to export only one page of one document you will export only one page of the next document (if that page exists).
InDesign should be able to store the export settings in the document if the user wishes to.9 votes -
The option to remember FULL pdf export settings on a document by document basis
The changes that resulted in the previous similar request being 'closed:fixed' were only to remember the TYPE of file Indesign previously exported it as. Which is great, but we need an option for the FULL pdf export settings to be remembered. We need to be able to have documents remember all previous export settings as otherwise this very complex and problematic to communicate to others if working as a team. Or if you are exporting something again after a long while and no longer have the settings noted. Please help!

Datamerge export as PDF/VT or other variable print file format (such as VPS)
I use the datamerge function alot to create variable print products such as letters with names and address etc. I also use variable graphivs too. The problem is that when I have an 80,000 run the PDF files and ripping times are getting longer and longer. Ideally I want to be able to export as a PDF/VT file format or a VPS. This will mean that instead of sending the graphics 80,000 times to the RIP of the printer it will instead send the graphic once and the data and graphics are assembled as it prints. Extended PDF export features
To add a custom preset feature where you could export a duplicate PDF with crop marks as well as a clean PDF all in one saving action. There is a lot of times in my line of work where we need both options (one for print and one for archiving) purposes. As of right now I have to export 2 files separately. Having a preset where I could just check the box when exporting would greatly save time and effort each time we go to export.

Ability to add alternate text to long hyperlinks
One of the suggested techniques for complying with WCAG 2.0 AA is to provide alternate text for long urls so that screen readers read the alt text rather than the url when tabbing through. This can only be done in acrobat at the moment. Which means it has to be done every time a PDF is created. We regularly amend our files and have many documents with many long (2 line) urls so it is going to be very time consuming to do this every time we create a PDF. Estimated Output Size
When saving a PDF output, it would be nice to choose your saving options (image quality, resolution) and get an estimated size. Like if you know you need something under 10MB, you could adjust your settings to match that without having to retry saving until you get the right size.

Automatically convert table cells to fillable forms for PDF
Currently, as far as I know, adding fillable forms to a table requires drawing a text frame above each form. This is time consuming. It should be possible to create text fields from existing cells.

Fold marks in export settings for spreads
Hello,
I work with cover spreads quite a bit....3 facing pages. Back Cover-Spine-Front Cover. The printer I work with, a very large commercial printer, requests fold marks on the spine. They want them the same size/offset as the outer crop marks. When you have a spread and you check "crop marks" in the export settings, InDesign puts marks on the spine that are smaller and offset further away from the trim than the outer marks. Fast book export to PDF
When you have a book with a lot of files inside (more than 100), the export to PDF takes a lot of time. The mouse stucks and it ist not possible to work effectively.
Every day we are working multiple times with the book funktion.
A new PDF Export will be very nice and very very helpful.7 votes
