Locate where a specific colour is used in your document
It would be really useful to be able to find exactly where a colour is used in a document. When you get a document from a third party and there are extra colours in it that you are trying to eliminate it is sometimes very difficult to track them down.
You can convert the colour to a spot colour then turn on separations and do a visual check but, apart from being time consuming and relying on it being large enough to be easily spotted, it won't help if the colour has been defined as part of a style.
395 votesThe ability to find colors in documents in now available in InDesign’s latest release 16.0.
It can be found in a new tab of Find/Change dialog – Color.
Please let us know your feedback in comments.Regards,

ENHANCED CROSS-REFERENCES - FOOTNOTES
I was working on a document where the client had references in footnotes to other references: e.g. "See footnote 6". It would be great to have that be an auto updating cross-reference. (like paragraph numbers or page numbers work now)
You can already choose the "footnote" paragraph style, but the reference footnote number cannot be included in the script. Please fix that

Advanced HTML5 export camparable to FrameMaker
I need an HTML5 export comparable to FrameMaker: I need all these options and even more. One of the most important one is splitting of HTML pages and automatic creation of a navigation structure based on these headings.

Stop making the CC Libraries the default!!!!!!!
I am sick and tired of the Library panel popping open because there are embedded defaults that make EVERY new thing I make think it needs to be added to the cc library.
I DON"T WANT TO USE THEM AS DEFAULT!!!!
If I want to use them I will decide.,
STOP MAKING IT THE DEFAULT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Border also as character style instead of only paragraph style
Title describes itself. I would like to have the ability to "span" one or more characters instead of a whole paragraph and assign a border to them. Just like I'm able to do with css

touch bar support
I've been using the touch bar of my MacBook Pro for a lot of things, including Photoshop. As I am mainly using Indesign in my everyday work, it would be great to have touch bar support, for instance for applying paragraph styles to texts.

Image frame option 'fit to bleed'
I'd like to have option 'fit to bleed' next to 'fit to frame' etc. options. So I wouldn't need to move graphic frame corners manually to bleed area.
Not a major issue, but a little improvement :)

Changing pdf preset should reset page range to 'all'
Unfortunately InDesign remembers page range setting even when changing PDF preset from dropdown list in Export dialog. It would be awesome for page range to reset to 'all' when choosing another PDF export preset. I don't always remember check the range and have to do the pdf file twice. Not the major problem, but a little improvement :)

Trim dimension text variable
Client: “THIS IS THE WRONG SIZE!”
Designer: “But I put the trim dimension text variable in the slug area! Oh, right. There is no trim dimension text variable.”

Add option To Find/Change dialog box to search within notes and conditional text
I would like an option to search within notes and conditional text. In the Find/Change dialog box, there are options on what to search through: Document, Selection, Story, Include Master Pages, etc. There should also be options to search for text in hidden conditional text, as well as in Notes. Please see the attached mock-up User Interface changes for the Find/Change dialog box.

Allow spread view documents published online to be downloaded as single page view pdf's.
An InDesign document in a spread, 2-page view format that is published online turns into the same spread, 2-page view when it's downloaded as a pdf. It would be nice to add a control in the online version to allow the view to select one or two-page formats in the pdf that they downlaod.

Libraries
A really small thing that has tripped me up a more times that I wish to admit is that in Indesign the CC Libraries is called "CC Libraries" however in Photoshop & Illustrator it is just called "Libraries"
If this could become standardised across the Adobe Suite that would be great.

Cannot paste grouped object into graphic cell - when could previously.
Adobe InDesign CC, 2017.1 Release
Version 12.1.0.56 x 64 buildI used to be able to paste a grouped object (for example, an image with a bit of text overlayed on it) into a graphic cell in a table. Currently this is not working - I can put a regular image (just a linked image) into a graphic cell, but as soon as I try to "paste into" a copied grouped object, it does not even offer paste into as an option.
This issue is present in tables used by multiple users in different files - not a bug in…

Indesign CC 2017 Place Option
On CC 2015 when placing a pdf the Options (Show Import Options, Replace Selected Item, and Create Static Captions) show up by default.
On CC 2017 Options is collapsed making and extra step to show up the option. I work in a production environment and visually it's faster to move forward (like in CC 2015). Is there a way to make it behave like 2015, so that Options show up by default? Hope I'm making sense.1 vote -
add flowchart feature (or plug-in) for family trees
Making family trees is very popular yet the supposedly cover-all creative suite doesn't do it!

Improve the tabs window interface
No matter what size your text is or how much Iyou zoom in, when you open the tabs window to set or modify tabs, the window is WAY too small, and the little arrows to adjust the tabs WAY too fussy. It's almost impossible to grab the existing tab to move it over or even select it, and you end up creating 4 or 5 new tabs because you're clicking on the ruler trying to select an existing tab. I wait for this to improve with every update. Going in to my 25th year as a graphic designer, and I…

Center Fold Lines in Column Gutters
It would be nice in InDesign and across all other layout and design programs to be allowed the option (button) to display an nonprinting center fold line when setting gutter spacing on a layout with two or more columns.

Make the standard fonts within InDesign and other Adobe design softwares ALL the same across both the Mac and PC platforms.
I am a college student studying graphic design. In my classes the school provides Apple Mac computers to do our in class work. However, I own a Windows Surface Laptop. So when I need to finish projects outside of the classroom it is very frustrating to choose a font on the Mac only to have it changed because the font is not available/has to be imported on the Windows PC (vice versa). I understand that the platforms are very different from each other, but it is the same software. How hard can it be for Adobe to make the fonts…

expand text frame's ignore text wrap
In the text frame's options expand the ignore text wrap checkbox to give the options ignore text wraps below, ignore text wrap above or ignore all.
As you can see in the attached file I want the text frame to observe the text wrap on the image to the left which is above the text frame, but I wanted to ignore the text wrap on the right-hand image which is below the text frame.
