beeing able to save document bounds (document preferences)
I have this problem, that my workspace layout has pallettes docked to the right screenside. With multiple document windows set to non tabbed (see screenshot; red area), the initial opened window will extend under my pallettes (green area), making it impossible to see the scroll bar. Also the document page isnt centered (blue area), and objects on the pasteboard are dissapearing out of sight under my palettes (yellow area).
I have this covered by a start-up script with an event-listener 'afterOpen': app.layoutWindows[0].bounds = [81, 40, 1357, 1762];
But i'd like to see this as an option.…

The fill and stroke selectors on toolbar when in the single column option are too small.
The fill and stroke selectors on toolbar when in the single column option are too small. By comparison in Illustrator in the same single column view they are much bigger and easier to select.

Tabbing Order when creating a new document
When tabbing on NEW DOCUMENT, the tab order goes from Width - Units - Height. It should go from Width - Height - Units. Illustrator does this correctly, Indesign has them in different (and distracting) order. Consistent between apps would be helpful!
6 votesThanks for making this feature suggestion. This is something that we had already started work on. Its currently in the Beta builds. I would highly encourage you all to try it out. You can follow the below link to join InDesign Pre-Release program, where the Beta builds are available for download.

Show options when placing artwork
In previous versions, I didn't have to click the options button to see the options for placing a graphic or PDF. The current version makes me click an option button. It makes no sense. Just show the options. Always. And have the program remember what you did the last time, or make make it so you can set a default the way you want it. Having the options visible without having to click another button would save me a lot of time. You had it right before.

Where do we enter InCopy/InDesign workflow requests
Seriously, InCopy-related questions get dumped into "Other"? Can we get a full-fledged InCopy category here?
3 votesThank you for the suggestion Anne-Marie. I have added an InCopy category to this page.

Reflowable EPUB Preview inside InDesign
The EPUB Interactivity preview panel is SO handy. Can we get one for reflowable epubs too (or add this feature to that one)? I would like to see the effects of chapter breaks, floats, image anchors, etc. within InDesign instead of the EPUB export dance all the time. BONUS if it can show me a preview that's roughly equivalent to a chosen preset like iBooks, Kindle, Nook, ADE, Overdrive, and so on.

Jump to page 1 = just go to first page already
If my document is numbered pages 43 to 59, for example, and I press Command -J and enter "1" for "Go to page:" PLEASE just take me to the first page in the document! Is that too much to ask? ;-)

Allow password-protected hosting, and hosting from a non-Adobe server
These two features would go a LONG way to making Publish Online a viable format for professional publishing. I'm sure many clients would pay an extra fee (nothing outrageous) for a self-hosted solution, if that would be necessary for Adobe to commit resources to make this happen.
230 votesPassword protection of Publish Online documents is available, starting with InDesign 19.4 version.

Open images from Package window
The package window is perfect to discover issues and problems with document or images. But when I find problems with image (RGB profile for example) why is not possible to open in Photoshop directly from that window with double clic? I have to write the name of the files and the number of page and go there to open them...

Add the ability to 'warp' live text
We do the vast majority of our designing in InDesign, so having to go to Illustrator to manipulate text is quite a disconnect to the workflow.
Unless you take the entire layout to Illustrator it is hard to get the text 'warp' accurate to your layout. It involves too much trial and error jumping between the programmes.
We know Illustrator is very capable, but so is InDesign. In fact some of the vector drawing tools in InDesign are far better designed than Illustrators equaivalents - so much so that it is often easier to create artwork entirely in InDesign.
Thanks!

Publish Online: comment mode
It should be possible to comment on specific parts of the page. Like in www.invisionapp.com So it could be possible to discuss an artwork with my client. Like I'm doing with PDF-comments at the moment. But in this case I could reply and discuss more. (show more than one versions of one page would be excellent!)

Publish Online: Sharper elements
InDesign seems to convert vector-based elements (linked eps/AI etc.) in JPGs when I publish online. But that's not sharp. Even with 144dpi (Retina Display …). But text is sharp … Is it possible to have alle the same sharp?! (if not the clients ask: why is the text sharp and these elements not?!) Maybe convert to svg or show a PDF …???

Add full fullscreen/splitscreen support for Mac OSX
OSX has a fullscreen/splitscreen mode, integrated into their Spaces (desktop view dedicated to one app only) support in almost any app.
Acrobat (!) already added this fullscreen support.
The classical design workflow would be greatly improved if InDesign (and most other CC apps) would support this native OSX feature.Especially corrections, copying text, comparing artwork and final lay-out, switching apps, would go much faster, with less switching of views, apps, moving windows around etc…
On a MacBook, this would make all Adobe apps much more useful. I (and many others) do not want to pay for a second monitor, only…

Master Page variables
Let's say you have a master page that your entire document uses. The document has several sections and is colour coded. The only difference between each section is a coloured band. It would be amazing if there was a way to set a variable to the section which would change the colour of that bar. Presently the only way to do this is to make several master pages and change the bar in each one.

I want to be able to select multiple table rows that are not connected.
I would like the ability to select multiple table rows that are not connected. For example, I expected to be able to CTRL+Select the rows I want to change the fill color. For example, if I have 20 rows, but I want to select Row 2, 6, 8, 14, and 17 so that I am able to edit the fill color/text color/row height, etc. in those rows only. Currently, I have to do them all individually and in much larger tables (50+ rows.) It's such a pain!
The ability to fill every other row, or every third, etc. in the…

Pair Kerning
There are many occasions where a specific pair of letters do not kern properly, such as ". I would like to be able to select the pair of letters from a particular font that I want kerned throughout an InDesign document, and have them automatically kerned. I don't want to have to apply a style to each instance, or find and replace each instance.

Link to a specific page on a PDF or Excel Workbook
I get output in the form of either an Excel Workbook or a PDF with multiple pages.
One task I have is to assemble a book from these unsorted output files.
It would be AWESOME if we could link content from Excel Workbook tabs and specific PDF pages so when I get output, I could just put it all in a folder and InDesign would be smart enough to link everything in the book design from the previous year.
Annual publications for TONS of folks would go faster if we didn't have to paste the data page by page every…
