Easier Pasteboard Changes?
I'd like an option or a tool to quickly adjust the pasteboard size. I use that area for working out different layout and content options, and I find it strange that I have to go into the preferences to make the area larger each time I start a new file.
2 votesDoes changing the preferences when ‘no document is open’ help you achieve this? That way, you don’t have to do it for each new file that you start.

Export All Alternate Layouts as PDFs With Layout Name
I use the alternate layout tool a lot to group different sized content in the same InDesign file.
While I know I can select the layout as a range during export, it would be a huge timesaver to be able to export all of my layouts as separate PDFs and then just add the alternate layout name to the end of the PDF file.
Ideally this could be a check box in the export settings "export each alternate layout as a separate file"
12 votesInDesign versions CC2018 and above have an option called ‘Create Separate PDF Files’ in the Export PDF dialog. Using this option, you should be able to export all your layouts as separate PDFs.

Make OpenType SVG composed glyphs unbreakable
For now combined glyphs can be accidentally broken if they reach end of line.
For example, I add composed glyph 0x261d + 0x1f3fe (☝🏾) It is up pointing hand with skin tone modifier.
Applied EmojiOne font.
Now i start added dots before is (.........). When glyph reach end of text field, he will be PARTIALLY moved to next line. This moment it will be broken.
I understand why it happens, but this is unexpected behavior.
I think there should be an option in paragraph or character style, that makes glyphs unbreakable.

Ability to change the page of the linked pdf
I would love to see the ability to change the page number of a linked pdf in the links palette - as it stands you have to relink file, click 'show import options' (which then remains on when you don't want it to) navigate to the pdf then click through what page you want to display. It's slow and clunky. A simple icon next to the link where you could select the desired page would speed my workflow up massively.

More Scripting Control over Panels, MenuItems, MouseEvents/Selections
It’ll be great, if e.g. I could hook into the mouse right click context menu of the paragraph styles panel, grab, which paragraph style was selected by the user, and perform some scripting tasks on this user selected paragraph style.
Or the user can select pages in the pages panel, perform the script (or right click to run the script from the context menu), which processes it’s scripting actions on the selected pages.
I think, there would be thousands of more clever use cases for such functionality. Allowing such actions will extend the power of scripting tremendously.

fit frame to bleed
I would like to see a script that recognizes frames outside of the bleed coordinates, and snaps the frames to those coordinates. It just tidies up the pasteboard and helps with the center content in frame action. Thank you!

Content Aware Fit separate setting for rasters and vectors
I like using Content Aware Fit on most photos but it doesn't make it sense to use it on vectors like logos. So I have to turn it on and off constantly. Perhaps there could be separate preference checkboxes so that Content Aware Fit can occur when placing photos but not vectors.

Ability to turn on/off Effects by checking box
Often times when using a preloaded Effect, such as drop shadow, gradient, etc., after creating you realize you don't like it or want to see what it looked like without the effect.
Rather than having to click back into the options panel to turn off the effect, it would be nice to be able to click the check mark and turn it off or on without going into the options menu.

Option to disable corner rotation widget
Although the corner rotation widget is very practical, it gets in the way often, especially when working with smaller elements. Instead of resizing the item rotates.
Therefore I would like to plead for an option to turn this corner rotation widget off. This way scaling / resizing becomes available better, zooming in and out will be reduced which is more efficient.

Functionality to apply kerning before the first letter in a line
Feature Description: This feature should work like in Illustrator or Photoshop (even After Effects can do it). Please see attached screen capture.
How it should work:
1. Insert the cursor before the first character in a line
2. Use the kerning in the character panel or with the shortcuts (ALT + arrow keys)
3. kerning should be appliedWhy: This would be a productivity enhancement and make it much easier to optically align the first letter in a line manually without having to use the Optical Margin alignment that only works for a whole story.

Rename Hyperlink
Add the 'rename hyperlink' option to the 'edit hyperlink' window. I find it essential to identify hyperlinks by their names. But I often edit them. After I edit a link, and I want to rename it to better identify it, I have to open a new window just to rename it. This is quite inefficient.
2 votesIn the Hyperlinks panel, with the Name of hyperlink shown highlighted, clicking once more on the highlighted name enables you to ‘rename’ the hyperlink right there.
Hope this helps.

Update imagelink after edit the original and saved it as different filetype
following Workflow:
- Import image in Indesign (for example .jpg)
- open context-menu and choose "edit original" via photoshop
- Now i make various edits on the image, with multiple layer, effects etc.
- I save the finished image as PSD to keep the editability.
FEATURE:
Now, after i saved the image as psd, InDesign should recognise, that i saved the original image in a different fileformat and ask me, if it should update the imagelink or not.I think it´s simplifies the workflows of many users by reducing additional steps.

Option to change standard font family (Minion) in the Find Font dialogue box
It would be wonderful if it would be possible to change the standard font family from Minion to something else. Either by setting up the standard font for new documents, or by adding a checkbox 'Set as default'. Another idea would be if ID simply would remember the last font selected in this dialogue.
Also something isn't working right here. If you start typing the name of the font and hit Tab to jump to the style, it resets the font family back to Minion.4 votes -
A preference choice to disable the application of local formatting.
A preference choice to disable the application of local formatting. This setting would have fine tune control (similar to the eye dropper tool) to allow some local formatting, such as kerning.
This feature would be ideal for templates as well as team based workflow.1 vote -
lock imported pdf-comments
without beeing able to lock comments and elements like arrows and lines, its difficult to work with imported comments. when moving elements around, imported pdf-elements also move. would be nice to lock them or to convert them into an actual layer.

Add a “floating” option to anchor frames
It would be wonderful if InDesign could have a “floating” option for anchored frames the way that FrameMaker does: it allows one to define that, for example, an anchored frame would always be in the upper right corner of the page where the text flows that contains the anchor.
As it is now, if text is added above, the anchored frame moves down with the text, and if it hits the bottom margin, then text wraps to the next page without filling the previous page.2 votes -
Option to freeze zoom so it always remains on "fit spread in window" even when searching
When working on a large monitor where facing pages easily fit and are still readable, it would be very handy to be able to “freeze” the current zoom so it is kept when searching. As it is now, when one goes through a document finding the next occurrence, the zoom keeps focusing on the found spot, but on a large screen it would be much more agreeable and less strenuous on the eyes if there were the option for the zoom to remain on "fit spread in window"
