  1. font weight mapping

Different font foundries/designers have different ideas on how to name the font weight. Unfortunately this causes problems, when you want using (character) styles like "BOLD" or "ITALIC".

More often then not, you need to change the definition (from "bold" to "65 bold" or "Italic" to "oblique") when changing the font.

If you have multi-font documents, you even need to assign styles according to the font instead of the weight. Building a hierarchy of styles gets more complicated too.

The idea is to have a table of weight mapping like:
    65 bold = bold;
    bold = bold;
    45 light = light;…

  2. Ignore pasteboard

I would like to "ignore pasteboard" when running spell-check. Often I have extra text on the pasteboard that I don't want to delete, but I don't want to wade through while spell-checking.

Related to that -- it would be great if we could indicate certain frames we don't want to spell check. I do publications that have long lists of names that take forever to work through. I don't need to spell check them. Or maybe an "ignore capitalized words" function could do that.

These would be enormously helpful to editors! Thanks.

  3. enable paragraph style groups to be added to CC libraries

Can you create the ability to group paragraph styles in CC libraries as they can in an InDesign file or template.
The idea is to have various groups of styles that apply to different document types that we create, and be able to share these across users in the company.

  4. when using the GAP tool, allow to enter the space size.

When i have a collage of many images and I want to have all the spacing between the images the same exact amount, entering a desired size will be a huge help.

  5. Color/swatches Library

In PS and AI, there're a lot of built-in color/gradient libraries, and when you want to select a color, you ca just append them or open a color library, but in indesign, there're no ways you can do so, a lot of the color selecting work is done by guessing unless you know which color you want to choose

I hope there will be a built-in color library (if the interactive buttons can have a built-in library and why don't we add a sample color library?

I know the "Official" way to do this is using Adove Color Theme Panel,…

  6. Notes for images/picture-frames (InCopy)

It's possible to select some text to attach a note, but it's not possible to select images to attach notes (for example the editor like to have the image brighter and like to communicate this to the designer)

  7. Improving footnote dialog

My proposal is to enable the ID program has more than one group of footnotes, or precisely two groups, with unique numbering each. The first which is being put under the text or at the end of a chapter, the ordinary ones. This as all know for referring or explaining the text.
The second is to be on the outer side margin of a page and out of the text block limits, to mension the diffirences of original manuscripts of the old and complex books, encyclopedias linked captions, or special explaining or commencing, I mean for more specialized use.

  8. Column view for index panel

Column view for index panel would be very convenient when working with large indexes. With this feature a large index could be edited and viewed on an external monitor.

  9. Cross Reference / Hyperlink - EDITING FACILTY

    Overview
I work on large catalogues all day (over 500 pages) and unfortunately the previous designers didnt have a naming convention for the hundreds of cross references. As a result its a MESS of meaningless names and broken links.

    Research.
I have looked over the internet to find a solution but there doesn't seem to be one (i found a script that looked promising but it didn't work).

    Request.
It would be great to have a panel that lists all the links/cross ref. in the document that allows you to RENAME, DELETE or EDIT the existing links.

  10. InDesign Publish Online Available Offline

Would it be possible to create a PublishOnline PDF that supported all the features and functionality of a PublishOnline document but without browser restrictions.

Currently we love the PublishOnline and use it for professional client work but it is limited due to cross browser compatibility issues and limitations.

  11. Packaged PDFs

Please make the default for packaging PDFs include a .125 bleed, not 0 bleed. As a printer, or best workflow is pdf, but 99% of files received from clients contain no bleed when they are packaged. Also, I have not found a way myself to change the bleed amount for a packaged pdf. Please make this easier to edit as well.
    Thanks

  13. Allow character style to affect tab leaders

I applied a tab leader in my paragraph style in order to force dots to appear between my text and page number in my table of contents. However, there is no way to style those leaders. InDesign manual says: To change the font or other formatting of the tab leader, select the tab character in the text frame, and use the Character panel or Type menu to apply formatting.

This is fine except when you have a really long table of contents and want to format each tab leader. I chose a smaller dot by choosing a light font and…

  14. Expose missing glyphs to scripting

It's very difficult to find missing glyphs with a script. There's a hack: look for glyph ID 0 in all the document's used font, but this hack is unreliable as it doesn't work in overset text.

To test whether a single character is a missing in its applied font you can (try to) convert it to outlines. That too is an ugly hack, and can't be used for longer stretches of text.

Please add a property to the Story object, say, missingGlyphs, so that the call

    myStory.missingGlyphs

returns an array of glyphs missing in a story.

    Thank you.

  15. Please add the possibility to place multi-page ID and PDF files like multiple images with gridify function

When placing a multi-page InDesign or PDF file it should be possible to use the gridify function the same way as when users place multiple images.

  16. [ID-4261542] Text variables to include auto numbers

When creating a text variable, it would be great to have it capture the auto numbering, e.g. if the heading is "1. Introduction" and the number is set as an auto number to the paragraph style, then the text variable that references that paragraph style should also pick up the number. At the moment, all you get from the text variable is "Introduction". Or at least have that as an option!

  17. delete to the beginning of the line and similar support for macOS

We already see the powerful shortcut being used in indesign to fast select to the beginning/end of the line (sht-home/end), won't it be nice if InDesign add a short cut to delete to the beginning/end of the line? like sht-cmd-del or fn-sht-cmd-del?

I been using macOS's own delete to the beginning of the line (cmd-del) for so long, and I really love this feature, it allows you to quickly cleara a line and beginning new one, and in macOS you can use opt-del to delete a word (fn-opt-del to delete forward), I just love the fact that these mac shortcut…

  18. Pixel instead of point sizes for type in a web layout

We would like to be able to measure the type size in indesign as pixels rather than points, when we choose a web layout. The same way that the document size is measured in pixels instead of mm. Thanks!

  19. Make the Buttons and Forms panel expandable

The Buttons and Forms panel is not expandable like almost all other panels. It's too narrow and when you have many buttons the Visibility list is much too short when it starts scrolling. Also, I want to move (drag and drop) the order of the buttons in the Visibility list.

  20. make book remember relative (to book file) chapter documents path

book should "remember" documents paths relative to book own file path.
After copying whole folder with book and documents files to new place, the book is opening chapters from old place instead of the one, that they are.
Just like it is in Framemaker.

To omit this error, you have to change the name of old folder.
