   My biggest frustration is the mediocre or completely missing spell check. It may work in English, but unfortunately not in Dutch. For me, and I believe for many others as well, this could be a great update.

2. Subject: Request for 'Point Type' tool in InDesign (Like Illustrator)

   Hi Adobe Community and Team,

   I am transitioning from CorelDRAW and Illustrator to InDesign for my publication projects. While I understand that InDesign is frame-based, I find it very cumbersome that we cannot simply click and type without manually creating a text frame first.

   In Illustrator, we have 'Point Type' where a single click allows us to start typing immediately. This would be a huge time-saver for small labels, page headers, or quick annotations in InDesign as well.

   Is there any plan to introduce a 'Point Type' behavior or a shortcut to create a text frame with a single click in future updates?

3. "Select Fully Enclosed Objects Only" Mode

   Subject: Addition of a selection toggle to include only objects entirely within the marquee area.

   Problem Statement:
   Currently, InDesign’s selection tool (Marquee Selection) selects any object that the selection frame touches (Crossing Selection). In complex layouts with large background elements or overlapping frames, this behavior forces users to constantly lock layers or manually deselect unwanted items, significantly slowing down the workflow.

   Proposed Solution:
   Introduce a toggle (e.g., in the Control Panel or Preferences) or a modifier key (e.g., holding Alt while dragging) that changes the selection logic. When active, only objects situated 100% inside the marquee rectangle will be selected.

   Key Benefits:

   Precision: Easier selection of small elements placed on top of large background frames.

   Efficiency: Eliminates the need for repetitive "Lock/Unlock" or "Shift-Click to deselect" actions.

   Consistency: Aligns InDesign’s functionality with other professional CAD and vector software (like Illustrator’s "Object Selection by Path Only" or AutoCAD’s Window Selection).

   Implementation Suggestion:

   A new icon in the Control/Properties Panel for "Enclosed Selection Mode".

   An option in Preferences > Selection and Anchor Display.

5. Proposal for Native Persian Language Engine in Adobe InDesign

   Dear Adobe InDesign Team,

   I hope this message finds you well.
   As a long-time user of Adobe InDesign in the publishing and design industry in Iran, I would like to bring to your attention a significant challenge that many Persian-speaking designers and publishers face when using this powerful software.

   Adobe InDesign has become the cornerstone of layout and design for books, newspapers, and magazines in Iran. However, despite the availability of the Middle Eastern (ME) version of InDesign, Persian is not natively supported. Instead, the software relies on Arabic language support, which leads to a range of issues due to the fundamental differences between the two languages.

   Key Issues Faced by Persian Users:
   Lack of a native Persian text engine: The current reliance on the Arabic engine causes incompatibilities, as Persian includes additional characters such as "پ", "چ", "ژ", and "گ" which are not present in Arabic.

   Different glyph shapes and behavior: Persian text often renders incorrectly or inconsistently due to glyph mismatches or substitutions, requiring manual adjustments.

   Default LTR text boxes: When creating a new text frame, the default direction is left-to-right, which is impractical for RTL languages like Persian. This requires constant manual correction or the use of custom scripts.

   Inefficient workarounds: Designers often resort to JavaScript scripts and time-consuming tweaks just to achieve proper Persian text handling.

   Proposal:
   To address these issues and significantly improve the experience of Persian-speaking users, I respectfully propose the following:

   Develop a native Persian text engine alongside the Arabic one in the ME version of InDesign.

   Automatically enable right-to-left direction when Persian is detected or selected as the document language.

   Provide complete support for Persian glyphs and typography, separate from the Arabic implementation.

   Consider Persian-specific typographic features, such as justification behavior, kashida, and numeral handling.

   This improvement would not only benefit users in Iran but also the wider Persian-speaking community worldwide, including Afghanistan and Tajikistan. We believe that Adobe, as a leader in creative software, has the vision and capacity to make InDesign more inclusive and better adapted to a wider range of global languages.

   Thank you for your time and for continuously developing such a powerful tool. We hope you will consider this request and help bridge this longstanding gap in support for Persian language professionals.

8. Place and Link to user to work without having to map new styles

   To the InDesign Product Team,

   I am writing to provide feedback on the Place and Link (Content Collector) workflow. While the ability to sync text content across a document is invaluable, the current implementation of the "Parent-Child" relationship is overly restrictive and creates significant manual rework for designers.

   The Problem: Currently, when a Parent object is updated, the Child object frequently reverts its font size, frame dimensions, and character treatment to match the Parent—even when "Preserve Local Overrides" is enabled. While "Style Mapping" exists as a workaround, it is an overly complex solution for a simple design need: keeping the words synced while keeping the design independent.

   The Proposed Solution: I request a more intuitive "Link Options" toggle that allows a Child object to permanently lock its local formatting. Specifically:

   Content-Only Sync: A high-level checkbox that tells the Child to only accept string (text) updates, ignoring all Parent-side attributes like point size, leading, tracking, and color.
   
   Geometry Independence: An option to decouple the frame's scale and dimensions from the Parent permanently, without needing to dive into complex sub-menus.
   
   One-Click "Stay as I Am": A simplified "Link Options" dialog where "Preserve Local Overrides" actually functions as a master lock for all visual attributes, rather than being overridden by "Update Appearance" or "Update Styles" flags.
   

   The "Place and Link" tool should function as a content-management bridge, not a formatting mirror. Designers need the flexibility to use the same text in a large headline (Parent) and a small sidebar (Child) without the software constantly fighting their layout decisions.

   Unlike Microsoft Word, Adobe InDesign lacks built-in tools for managing bibliographic citations, in-text references, and automated bibliography generation. This is a major limitation for users creating academic papers, scientific publications, books, theses, or any long-form documents with sources.Currently, we rely on workarounds like:Drafting in Word with citation plugins (e.g., Zotero, EndNote, Mendeley), then placing static text into InDesign.
   Third-party scripts (e.g., zot2indd for Zotero), which are unofficial and limited.

   Requested features:Native dynamic citation fields (similar to Word's References tab) for inserting in-text citations and auto-generating/updating a bibliography.
   Official plugin/extension support or API integration for popular reference managers like Zotero, EndNote, Mendeley, Citavi, etc.
   Support for common styles (APA, MLA, Chicago, IEEE, etc.) with automatic formatting and updates when sources change.
   Hyperlinks between in-text citations and bibliography entries.

11. Table of Contents updates

    When making changes in the TOC dialogue box, if you just press "OK", the changes are only made until you next update the TOC (why?? Where's the warning??!) It's intuitive to expect that pressing OK is updating the TOC style permanently.
    Instead, you need to press "Save Style" & go through the process of overwriting the style. OK should automatically overwrite the style & then you "Save Style" if you want to create an alternate.
    I had a large print job stuffed up because of this. I know that others have mentioned this (but I couldn't go through 57 pages of search results to find it).

    I also 'second' requests:

    • IMPERATIVE - be able to resize the TOC dialogue box (even automatically to fit the length of the list) - this is currently frustrating & time-consuming to have to scroll through to find the correct Paragraph Style & not being able to see the entire name of them (other boxes were previously changed to allow this but this one was neglected);
    • The ability to insert a set distance between the page number & the contents text to allow for automatic soft returns.

    • HANDY - To be able to update the TOC from the right-click context menu when the TOC text box is selected; &
    • Option to update TOC on export or close might be nice.

12. CRITICAL: Restore Hebrew Nikud Functionality in InDesign (Latest Versions) Issue:

    Issue: The latest Adobe InDesign versions have broken Hebrew nikud (vowel points) rendering, which worked perfectly in older versions. This is preventing designers, publishers, and educators from properly typesetting Hebrew religious texts, children's books, educational materials, and more.

    Impact: Thousands of users working with Hebrew content are either:
    Losing productivity and revenue

    Request: Please restore full nikud support as it existed in previous versions. This is not a feature request—it's a critical bug fix for a writing system used by millions.

13. Rounded Corners for Tables in InDesign

    Dear Adobe Team,

    As an InDesign user, I've encountered a limitation when designing tables in the software. Currently, there is no direct option to round the corners of tables, and this often leads to having to use workarounds to achieve the desired effect.

14. InDesign 2026 - PDF Export Generates Abnormal File Size

    After updating to InDesign 2026, exporting PDF files results in drastically larger file sizes compared to previous versions (e.g., from 6 MB to 50 MB) with the exact same content.

    The issue persists even when:

    The "Smallest File Size" preset is used.

    The Compression settings (downsampling) have been verified and correctly set to 72 ppi.

    This appears to be a regression bug introduced in version 2026 that either ignores or poorly handles compression settings or the management of vector/transparency elements during export.

    Feature Request: Set "Align to Key Object" default to select the object on the bottom layer

    Hello! I've been using Adobe Creative Suite products for about 20 years, and one feature that would be a huge and helpful time saver is to switch the default settings for the "Align" > "Align to Key Object" feature. Currently, the feature appears to always default to having the top object as the key object. However, in most cases when I want to use Align to Key Object, I want the bottom object to be the key object. Because of the current default, it feels super tedious and a time waster to have to manually make that selection every time.

    For example, I'm currently cleaning up a document that has text boxes on top of colored rectangular boxes. In every instance, I am selecting both objects and want to align the text box (top layer) to the colored rectangle (bottom layer). It is very tedious to have to select the objects, then choose "Align to Key Object," THEN switch key to the bottom object.

    I would guess that this would be the case for most designers (and pretty much every time I've ever used this feature, I've wanted to use the bottom object as the key), so it would be great for this to be the default mode for this alignment feature. BUT a compromise could be to add an option to set the default in the Preferences. (Please make this update in any/all Adobe products, especially InDesign and Illustrator.) Thank you!

16. How Strict Is the 4 Font Sizes Rule in Real Projects?

    Hi everyone,

    I’m a bit confused about the rule of using only 4 font sizes. Should this rule apply to the entire website or just per page (including header and footer geometry dash scratch )?

    For example, on blog pages I prefer 18px for readability, but on e-commerce product pages 16px works better for labels and compact layouts.

    How do you handle font sizing when a site has both long-reading content and more functional pages?
    Do you keep one consistent scale across the whole site, or adjust per section?

17. Large UI – Is there a way to make it smaller?

    Hi everyone, survival race

    Even at the smallest available UI size, everything still feels too large for me. In previous versions, I was able to use a much smaller (tiny) UI setting, which worked perfectly.

    Is there any way to reduce the UI size further?
    I’m using a 1080p HP laptop screen.

18. Selected or Page in Find/Change

    Earlier versions of InDesign included a “Search: Selected” option in Find/Change.
    This made it possible to safely replace text only within a selected area or page.

    In current versions, this option has been removed, and Search: Document ignores selections entirely, making page-specific replacements impossible when text exists in multiple, unthreaded text frames.

    This is a serious regression for production and packaging design workflows, where the same value (order number, batch number, SKU) appears multiple times per page and must be changed per page only.

    Please restore Search: Selected, or introduce a Search: Page scope in Find/Change.

19. Convert imported bullets to bullets when assigned bulleted style.

    When you assign a bulleted paragraph style to pasted or imported text, convert the imported bullets to the paragraph style bullets (instead of treating the imported bullets like the rest of the text resulting in bulleted bullets). It's tedious deleting, either manually or via F&R, all the imported bullets.
