  1. Stop turning all your products into Canva

The pop ups and changes to the UI are unnecessary and disruptive to decades of established workflow. Stop treating your established customer base like they're idiots and not design professionals. If wanted to use Canva I would.

  2. Keyboard shortcut for Align Justify w/last line right

The default action in the Align Justify keyboard shortcut is to align the last line in the paragraph to the left (Shift+Cmd+J).
There is no keyboard shortcut to align the last line to the right. Please add it; it’s very important to my RTL text workflow.

  3. Export from InDesign to Adobe Express with frames & keep the frames as frames not as shapes that can't be filled with photos or color.

Export documents containing frames from InDesign to Adobe Express & keep the frames as frames not converting them to shapes that cannot be filled with photos or color.
I'm working on a project with a document created in Adobe InDesign, which may have photos, fill colors, or be blank to fill in Adobe Express. When I export to Adobe Express, the frames convert into elements/shapes, preventing me from placing photos or changing the fill color. This limits my ability to design efficiently and uniformly. Recreating in Express or using new boxes and masking doesn't solve the issue, especially for custom…

  4. Provide Options for Export to Express

Please provide choices when using the export to Adobe Express function. Right now there are none, and I cannot directly export a high resolution, letter-sized, print-ready document into Express without dimension downsizing and image resolution loss.

Having these options via a direct transfer into Express is critical to being able to quickly transfer current Indesign documents into correctly-sized, print-ready, editable templates for use bt non-design users at my organization.

  5. Warn about font managers

Performance problems and crashes are frequently caused by third party font managers calling faulty macOS code that InDesign itself knows to avoid. Move all offending OS calls that end up in a font manager to a separate "sandbox" thread, and alert the user to disable incompatible software when the call does not return.

  6. Option to Set Default Save Location for AI-Generated Content to Project Folder in InDesign

Thank you for introducing the new AI-powered image generation feature in InDesign.
I would like to suggest an improvement to the way AI-generated content is stored. Currently, these assets are saved by default to the local user folder, which can become problematic when multiple team members need to collaborate on a project. Since the assets are not stored within the shared project folder, this can lead to missing files or confusion when the document is opened by someone else.

It would be highly beneficial to have an option that allows users to set the default save location for AI-generated content…

  7. Numbering positions

I'd like to be able to place numbering AFTER text, such as "Recommendation 1.2" and be able to cross-reference that in the appendix as "1.2", but all of the work-arounds I've seen are very clunky and prone to issues with long report documents.

  8. Share for Review - needs added feature

It would be extremely useful to be able to stop specific reviewers from commenting at a certain point - allowing others to continue. This would allow the wider group in an org. to comment - but then have the ringleader sort through their internal comments, accept them or remove them - then provide me (the designer) with a draft to make my edits from. Right now, people can still comment way after they have been told the commenting time is over.

  9. A preset to limit your FONT view to preferred language, such as the one chosen by OS/region.

I have to use Noto Sans; Its required by my work at my University.

Is there a way to limit your font view to preferred language chosen by OS/region. My font menu is a mess of languages and it's hard to navigate to choose just "Noto Sans." Try it... really.. Try and Type "Noto Sans"... I never get the one I type it's always one of the other languages versions.

    • So when a user choose their working language, InDesign offer them the right set of font.

Font lists are wayyyy tooooooo long to contain all the wolds languages by default!…

  10. rename character and paragraph styles using a batch renaming feature

It would be incredibly helpful if we could rename character and paragraph styles using a batch renaming feature, similar to what is available in Bridge. This would be especially beneficial when creating accessible PDFs through a Book file. When the same style names appear across different files, it causes tag issues during export via MadeToTag, requiring manual adjustments to all the styles. Since we frequently work with a variety of documents, this process becomes quite cumbersome over time. Thank you so much!

  11. Allow Share for Review Comments to be Printed or Exported

I can't believe you can't print or export comments created during a Shared Review. I had a reviewer ask for her comments to keep as a record for the next round of document updates and there is NO FEATURE in the browser, or InDesign that will allow those comments to be printed, PDF'd, or exported (so I could import them into a PDF for permanent archival).

This is a HUGE missing feature.

My company archives all comments from InDesign's Share for Review and in some cases I've had them disappear entirely.

Adding the ability to print those comments to a…

  12. A better, user friendly, way to create fractions

There should be an easier way to create a fraction beyond changing to an open type font that supports fractions. Something similar to what QuarkXpress does with its Make Fraction feature that can be applied to any font type at any font size.

  14. Allow placement of PDFs/images by actual page size, not their bounding box.

Enable an option to place or drag-and-drop PDF and image files based on their actual page dimensions (MediaBox or defined size), rather than defaulting to bounding box-based fitting—the following alignment of such is unnecessary hustle. Ideally with user-selectable placement mode (bounding box vs. full page).

  15. Create a checkbox to block and unblock text edition.

I work with book layouts and sometimes will accidentally type in a letter into the already written text while formatting it. Most times I noticed and undo it, but here and then a mistake may go unnoticed and risk having that typo printed.
It would be interesting to rely on a feature that allows me to easily disable and enable writting.
For instance, when the box is marked, I can still edit size, color, all that, but can no longer add or delete any text.
When it's unmarked, it works as usual.
Another option would be a "popup" that shows…

  16. Interactivity, LIVE while using InDesign - Object States and Buttons that work at ANY time - ala AE 'Essential Graphics'

Interactivity, LIVE while using InDesign - Object States and Buttons that work at ANY time - ala AE 'Essential Graphics'.
There is the potential for InDesign to be a powerful QC authoring tool in our industry. We apply technical charts over the images which designers have created, like pitch/checker-decks. We need many different aspect ratios but repetition of the overlays and much of the info. We previously had over 90 layers the user would need to make visible or invisible - this is tedious and antithesis of good UX.
Essential Graphics in AfterEffects is somewhat close to the idea we…

  17. Password requirements / limitation for publish online function

We are facing an issue, that we have to use a specific password, which the customer define and we have to use for protecting the documents. It's not allowed, to use a different password.

This password is longer than 20 characters, but you have rules for the password and one of it is defined, that the password has not to be longer than 20 characters.
That means for us, we cannot share any Adobe files with these customer, which means, that we have to use competitor tools, which allows a password with more than 20 characters...
    Would be great, when…

  18. Regarding New InDesign PDF Editing Feature

    Hi,

I hope this message finds you well.

We recently became aware of a new feature currently in beta within Adobe InDesign, which allows users to open and edit PDF files directly in InDesign. While we understand this can be a powerful enhancement for many workflows, we would like to raise a concern from the perspective of an enterprise customer.

We frequently shares open PDFs with clients and external partners for review and approval purposes. The ability to convert these PDFs into fully editable InDesign files—even in its current limited beta stage—presents a significant risk to the security and integrity…

  19. Display effective ppi and actual ppi of selected image at the Control panel

I'd like to see the effective ppi and actual ppi of an image displayed at the Control panel for easy of use. It's a very important information for me as I routinelly place several images on our publications and it's really cumbersome to have to open the Links panel or the Info panel just to check an image resolution while there's plentiful of unused space at the Control panel where this information could sit.

  20. Find/Replace Dialog box functionality was changed in 20.3 tabbing from Find now goes to the Special Character button

in InDesign 20.3 there was a change to the find/replace dialog box. When I tab out of the "Find what:" field it goes into "Specials characters for search" button instead of the way it used to work where it would tab into "Change to:" field.

I work on large books with data that I cannot control how it comes in and it is not connected. These books have three versions so there are three layers to work on. I need to make the same changes to all three layers. I have a rhythm, and I tend to work fast. At…
